Inside the classroom, their curious eyes shifted from Dana, Jerome, and then Finn who just sat there, staring at the book in front of him like he didn't just see his girlfriend kissing another man.
They all knew about Finn and Dana’s long relationship. But they didn't know they had broken up Finn tried not to care even though he felt disgusted. Last night wasn’t the first time he’d delivered condoms to Jerome. In fact, it was the sixth—each time for a different woman. And who knows how many more times Jerome had actually remembered to bring protection himself? He found Dana pathetic being with someone like Jerome. She must feel so proud, but ignorant. Jerome grabbed her waist with a smirk and was about to take her out of the room, but she immediately said, “Love, wait, there's something I need to return to Finn.” Finn turned his gaze toward Dana. She walked toward him and slammed something on his desk in front of him. Then she removed her hand. “I think this belongs to you.” It was an iPhone 12. “I don't want anything trash around me anymore,” Dana continued with a frown. Finn stared at the phone he bought for Dana as a present. She had wanted it and he was finally able to get it for her after undergoing a lot of part-time jobs. She was so happy that it was worth it. “Look at this, Finn, take a look,” Dana flaunted a brand new phone in Finn’s line of sight. “Jerome got a larger model, iPhone 15 Pro with a price of more than a thousand dollars which is obviously much better than this old junk you gave me. See? Shouldn't you be ashamed of yourself?” Jerome scoffed, and added, “What do you expect from a low-life like him, baby? Someone who saved up half a year just to buy this cheap phone for you is an utter nobody! Totally unworthy of my love.” “Awww,” the class said in unison. Dana blushed. “I know, love. That’s why I dumped him. Anyway, enough of this. I've given you back what I owe you, Finn. I owe you nothing now…” In a blink of an eye, Finn got off his chair as he grabbed the phone, and threw it against the wall, startling Dana. She flinched, gasping in shock, her heart skipping a beat. The phone smashed on impact, and Finn glared at Dana who was looking at him, nervous. “Everything you owe me, really? You're lucky I never counted because that phone is the least if you were ever going to pay back what you owe,” Finn told her with a stern, hateful gaze. “Hey!” Jerome pushed Finn’s shoulder forcefully. “What the hell is wrong with you?! You better be careful or I will be forced to teach you where you stand. You do not want to mess with me!” Finn gave him an unfazed, daring look. “And what subject were you planning to start with? I think you should focus on getting taught instead so you can avoid continuous failure. That’s why you're in school, isn't it?” “You fucking bastard!” Jerome was about to throw a punch at him, but Finn caught his hand. “Not the face,” he told Jerome warningly. Gathering her composure, Dana pushed Finn’s chest away from Jerome in anger, and then she said, “Selling that phone could have helped you a lot, you fool! But that temper of yours will be your undoing, Finn! Jerome, let's go. Stop wasting time on him. Let’s go to the Palate Haven to celebrate me finally getting rid of him.” Jerome smiled at her. “Oh, yeah. It’s definitely worth celebrating.” The blonde girl beside Finn chuckled softly, “And here I thought you were different, Dana, but you're just as shameless.” Dana blinked, surprised to see Talia Montague speaking to her. “And what’s it with you, Talia? Mind your business as you always do.” Talia shrugged casually. “Sure, go ahead and tag along with Jerome. Who knows, maybe you’ll snag the title of ‘Whore of the Month’ while you’re at it. It’s always fun to be part of these superlatives, right? ‘Whore of the Month’ and ‘Biggest Flirt’ do have a certain charm to them, don’t they?“ Dana frowned and took Jerome’s hand. “Babe, let’s get out of here. Some people are just jealous.” Then they walked away with Jerome occasionally glancing back at Talia with an intrigued gaze. Finn sat back down, and looked at Talia with uncertainty. “That’s nice of you.” Talia just shrugged. Finn’s phone rang. He quickly brought it out of his pocket and saw the number. That was when he realized his friend, Nicholas Calvert, wasn't in class. As soon as he picked up the phone, he heard a casual voice. “Finn, I’m sure by now class has ended. I need you to come to Palate Haven on West Street near campus. I'm waiting for you.” Finn frowned slightly and said with some confusion. “First, Palate Haven is certainly not cheap, and second, I am not going there.” Nicholas paused for a moment, then he gasped, and spoke up, “Holy shit, man! Holy shit, man, I think your girl is cheating on you. She just came out of Jerome Danvers’ car. They’re holding hands! They're coming toward me, what should I do?” “Let them be,” Finn said, knowing Nick was capable of launching into an attack. “What?!” Nick blurted out. “No, man, don't tell me you knew!” “I found out yesterday, we’ve broken up, past tense, chapter closed. I don't care anymore,” Finn answered. “How could you not, Finn?!” Nick queried. “After everything you did for that UNGRATEFUL BITCH!!” he raised his voice as Dana got closer to Palate Haven’s entrance where he stood. She frowned at him as they made their way inside. Nick scoffed and continued, “How can you just let this go, man?” Finn shook his head. “Don’t worry, buddy. She already has a lot to lose. Let her have some fun first. Anyway, Palate Haven is the most expensive restaurant nearby. Have you made a fortune recently?” Nick laughed, “I wish! This isn't on me. Today is my aunt’s birthday. According to Angela, her mom was so happy that she gave a huge sum of money to her. Angela wants to treat her friends to a big meal.” Hearing this, Finn had a displeased frown on his face, and then he said with a low voice, “How is that any of my business, Nick? For one, Angela is your annoying cousin, and two, we’re certainly not friends. Why should I go to her party?” What made Finn more annoyed was the way Angela usually looked down on him. She was always so disrespectful, it was heart-wrenching. Nick, on the other hand, was oblivious to Finn’s anger, so he persuaded, “Why should you care when you're friends with me? Don't you want free food because it’s what I'm here for? Just come! Hurry up! I'm waiting outside for you.” After that, a busy tone came from the phone. The only reason why Finn went to the Palate Haven, a restaurant only for the rich kids in school, was because Nick wanted it. He was just one of the many people good to him since the start of school.Nick was his best friend. When Nick saw him, he was happy and he quickly led Finn to a private dining room on the second floor. When he entered, he met more familiar faces.Nick’s other friend, Billy Jones, Angela, and two of her female friends were present. And none of them liked him which made the situation more awkward.Billy had a deep glare at him which was actually understandable after a huge fight happened between them, and he broke a nose and fractured a hand. For Finn, though, it had been one of the best days of his life. He wanted nothing more than to crack a joke about Billy finally being free of his cast, but for once, he decided to hold his tongue.Upon seeing Finn, they all suddenly laughed.Wanting in on the reason for the sudden laugh, Nick asked with an amused smile. “Wh
“W-what?” Angela stuttered with an incredible look on her face. “How can it be that expensive? Are you sure you didn't make a mistake?”The waiter frowned and handed the bill to Angela. He explained, “The dishes each of you consumed are a total of $3500, and the red wine you ordered cost a thousand dollars. The lady next to you ordered two extra bottles of imported red wine which are five thousand dollars per bottle…”The moment the waiter said that, everyone gasped and looked at Rita who sat next to Angela.“You ordered two bottles of imported red wines?! For what?!” Angela asked her.Everyone was watching her.Rita panicked and explained with a pale face. “I’m sorry… I didn't know how expensive it was. I'm so sorry, Angela.”“Well, sorry won’t cut it!” Angela yelled at her. “Fourteen thousand five hundred dollars, and I've only got five thousand!” She let out a deep breath and looked at the waiter. “Can we just return the bottles of wine?”The waiter shook his head with a stern face
Nick looked at Finn with uncertainty. “Are you sure about this? You won't get paid, and it will be a waste of your time. Don't you have part-time jobs to go to?”Finn just shrugged.Angela looked at all of them with fear in her eyes. “Are you guys agreeing to this? This bastard is telling them to beat me.”“Don’t worry, I think ten slaps will suffice. It won’t kill you, just enough to remind you to watch what you say next time,” Finn said with a teasing smirk.Angela’s breath was getting heavy. “No…”Rita immediately chimed in, “I’m sure you can do this for us, Angela. I promise, I will give you the LV bag my boyfriend got for me, the one you like…”“Why don't you fucking call your so-called boyfriend to get us out of here?! Oh, wait, there's Jerome in the other room, I need to go to him…” As she moved, the guards blocked her path. “Please, I need to…”Slap!Angela gasped, feeling the sting, and she staggered to the side in shock. She glared at the guard and everyone else aside Finn s
Finn rolled his eyes the moment he heard his father’s voice. He looked at Nick, and said, “There’s somewhere I need to be now. Let’s talk later.Nick nodded in understanding. “Okay, man. Thank goodness today didn't ruin your part-time job. I’ll just take Angela home,” he said and walked away.Finn also began to walk as he replied to his father. “Long time, indeed, Dad.”“I trust you've learned your lesson,” his father, Mr. Baron Lancaster said over the phone.Finn nodded. “I certainly did learn enough for three years.”“Hmm… why does your tone suggest otherwise?”Finn scoffed, and replied, “I didn't know you sent me out of the house to suffer just so I could change how I speak, Dad.”Mr. Baron replied, “I guess people don't change that easily. All I wanted was for you to stop being such a pain. You needed a wake-up call. Now, I wanna ask. Would you stop being a pain?”Finn smiled and answered, “Of course not, Dad. You know me. But I will try.”“Wow. Three years certainly wasn't enough
As Finn stepped into the bar, the vivid glow of neon lights greeted him, while the music reverberated in his ears. His brows knitted in mild annoyance as he looked around.“Is this really the best place for a meeting?” he murmured, barely audible over the noise.“I apologize, Young Master Finn,” a voice replied smoothly from behind. “I had to choose somewhere close to your school.”Finn turned, his gaze falling upon a poised woman seemingly in her late thirties or forties with striking blonde hair that just brushed her neck. Her graceful conduct commanded attention. He had never seen her before but she looked familiar.Finn tilted his head at her. “Really? I'm sure there's also a coffee shop close to my school.”Lena blinked nervously, getting anxious. “Uh… my daughter mentioned that most of the boys from your school frequent this bar, so I just assumed...”“Your daughter?” Finn asked, his brow arching inquisitively.Lena nodded quickly. “Yes, she’s in the same year and department as
“Finn, I knew you were working here! You said you were here to meet someone, didn't you? Were you that ashamed that you had to lie?”The one who spoke was Lara, and she was looking at Finn with a displeased expression.Finn looked at her, casually shoving his hands into his pocket. “Lie? I never did. I just had to help my roommate…”His voice trailed off as something clicked in his head, and his forehead creased.“Vincent, that bastard,” he muttered under his breath with an annoyed look.“What the hell are you saying? Are you trying to come up with more lies to tell?” Lara asked, interrupting his thoughts.Finn answered, “As I've said, I’m not a waiter here. I was just helping someone out.”“Gee, why do you keep lying?” Lara asked in disbelief. “The truth is right in front of us, and you still don't dare to admit it?”“Because there's nothing to admit…”“I know it’s possible you might feel shy, but for someone as poor as you, you should feel lucky to have a part-time job in such a hig
Finn didn't move an inch. “Come on, Finn, don’t be shy,” the guy with earphones teased, his tone oozing mockery. He lifted the glass, the dark liquid catching the light as he swirled it casually. “What are you waiting for? You can drink this. Don’t worry; it won’t make a dent in our pockets.”He leaned forward slightly, the grin on his face widening. “Go ahead, take a sip. Savor it. This is the kind of drink you’ll only ever taste once in your life. I mean, I’m practically making history for you here!”The others around the table chuckled, fueling his arrogance. “Come on,” he pressed, holding the glass out toward Finn. “Live a little.”Finn shook his head, looking uninterested. “Well, I don’t—”Splash! The cold beer hit him square in the face, cutting him off mid-sentence. He instinctively closed his eyes as the liquid dripped down, soaking his shirt.Everyone burst out laughing at the scene.Finn wiped his eyes with a deepening frown, glancing down at his drenched clothes.“Aww, I d
The guy with earphones was Nathan Palace. As the second son of a prominent wine-producing family, he instantly recognized the Château de Nuit red wine and its exclusive reputation. His background made him well-versed in such luxurious products.“Did you just say a hundred thousand?” Lara exclaimed, her tone laced with surprise. “That’s insanely expensive.”Nathan nodded confidently. “Exactly. My family specializes in wine production, so I know these things. Did… did you order it, Lara?”Lara chuckled dismissively. “Nathan, you give me way too much credit. Even if I had that kind of money, I’d spend it on something like fashion, not wine.”Nathan turned to the others. “What about the rest of you? Did anyone order this?”His friends exchanged puzzled glances, shaking their heads in unison, clearly having no idea too.Disappointed, Nathan sighed. A small part of him had hoped someone in their group had made the extravagant purchase, and that was because he had never tasted such wine that
Colette’s high school classmate, Richard Washer, whom she had sought help from was a guy interested in Gia—love at first sight. Upon learning about Gia’s situation, he pleaded with his father, Philip Washer, to intervene.Philip, who had been college classmates with Julius Granger, the president of the Merchant Union in Green Hills City, decided to honor his son’s request. Recognizing Julius’s influence and capability, Philip quickly headed to the Merchant Union headquarters for assistance. At the Merchant Union Building, Julius was deeply engaged in high-stakes negotiations with an investment company. Each side of the table had ten representatives, and the deal under discussion involved a staggering sum of $800 million. The negotiation was approaching a critical juncture, with an agreement expected within fifteen minutes. Julius wore a confident expression, certain his team was on the verge of securing the project.Suddenly, the door to the meeting room swung open, disrupting the pr
Finn and Jeffer met at a small coffee shop. As soon as Jeffer spotted Finn, he pulled him into a tight hug. “It’s been ages, you silly bastard! Look at you, all grown up!” When he pulled back, his expression turned to a frown as he took in Finn’s appearance. “But seriously, what’s with this look? Are you testing out how pauper clothes look on you?”Finn scoffed, heading straight to the nearest seat. “I never told any of you, but my father punished me for that whole gambling mess.”Jeffer’s eyes widened in surprise as he took the seat opposite Finn. “Really? I remember being shocked, thinking your dad was letting you off too easy as his only son, especially after you lost that insane amount of money the first time. So, he actually punished you, huh? I told you that you were taking it too far.”Finn shook his head, his tone colder now. “I still hold him responsible for my mother’s death, but I have no intention of getting punished again now that the restrictions are gone.”Jeffer nodde
“Who?” Nathan asked as he sat across from Finn at the Neon Bar, where Finn had arranged to meet and discuss something urgent.“A bastard named Galvin Smith,” Finn replied curtly. “I’m sure you’ve heard of him.”Nathan nodded, leaning back. “Yeah, I know that piece of work. That guy’s bad news—definitely not someone to cross,” he said, glancing briefly at the waiter who poured their beers with visibly trembling hands before bowing and walking away quickly.Nathan blinked, noting how cautious everyone seemed around Finn. It still amazed him that Finn was the real deal—a Lancaster hiding in plain sight.“Finn, can I ask something?” Nathan leaned in, curiosity sparking. “Why do you keep such a low profile? No one would guess you’re a Lancaster dressed like this. And your name—Lachlan—that’s not even your last name, right?”Finn scoffed, a faint smirk forming. “That’s my middle name.”“Oh,” Nathan said, realization dawning. “So, you’ve been using your middle name as your last name to keep
Groans and the sound of punches echoed through the room, accompanied by frightened yells. In a campus playroom where the school’s privileged elites gathered to drink, play poker, and indulge in games like darts and billiards, chaos had broken out. A young man lay on the ground near the wall, battered and bleeding as he endured a relentless barrage of punches.“Stop, Galvin! You’re going to kill him!” one of the guys shouted desperately, but Galvin ignored the plea.He just kept punching, and punching mercilessly. Most of the room’s occupants froze, abandoning their games to watch the brutal scene unfold. Those who had been playing darts and other games flinched with every punch that connected, their faces twisted in discomfort and fear—except for one person, who remained disturbingly unaffected.“Lukas! Lukas! Can’t you get him to stop?!” Another guy begged desperately. Lukas, lounging casually on a sofa, barely spared a glance at the scene. His expression remained bored as he saw G
“The police?!” Melanie exclaimed, her voice rising enough to draw Gia and Colette’s attention.Vincent nodded, already pulling out his phone. “Yes, let’s call them or go to the station. This is exactly what the police are for.”“Are you guys dumb?” Finn asked them with a frown. “The police won’t do anything about this.”“And why wouldn't they, Mr. Know-it-all? Isn’t this the perfect situation for law enforcement to intervene?” Vincent asked him.Gia sniffled quietly and spoke up, her voice hoarse from crying. “Finn’s right. Calling them is pointless.” She slowly sat up, her tear-streaked face pale and her red, puffy eyes revealing her exhaustion.Colette handed her a tissue, and Gia wiped her face as she continued with a trembling voice. “If we involve the police… it’ll only make things even more troublesome.”Colette shot the boys a furious glare. “You guys are just so stupid! I don't even know what you're doing here! How could you possibly think involving the police is a good idea,
Intrigued, Finn and Vincent headed back to their dorm, eager to hear what Jason had to say.“So, what’s the deal with that rich girl?” Vincent asked as he settled on his bed.Jason chuckled, shaking his head in a mocking way. “You know I really find this funny. This is to show you that nobody knows tomorrow. A reminder that no one’s untouchable. Sure, someone might be rich, but there’s always someone above them. Even the Nexus Group has to answer to a higher power. God.”Vincent raised an eyebrow. “God? Not even the president?”Jason burst into laughter. “Oh, Vincent, you’re so clueless. Politicians rely on the wealthy. Think about it—without rich backers, where would they get funding for their campaigns or projects? There are so many corrupt politicians, and the president’s no exception! Haha! It’s all about who holds the purse strings,” he scoffed.Finn frowned, his curiosity deepening. “Are you implying the president of Nexus Group is corrupt?”Jason shrugged casually. “I’m not try
Finn couldn't help but sigh when Angela came after him. He leaned back in his chair, and lowered his gaze, having nothing to say to her. “I’m talking to you, you bastard!” she snapped, slamming her hands on his desk. The sudden noise grabbed everyone’s attention, including Dana and also Lara, whose tear-streaked face turned toward the commotion.“Hey, aren’t you Nick’s cousin? What could Finn have done to make you barge into our lecture room like this?” a guy in the class asked, his tone curious but skeptical.Angela scoffed, her finger pointing at Finn with unrestrained contempt. “Because of this bastard—” she began, but her voice faltered as a sudden realization struck. If she revealed too much, everyone would find out about her embarrassing failure to pay for the lavish meal she’d treated her friends to at Palate Haven. Her eyes darted around nervously, and a flurry of thoughts ran through her mind. ‘I can’t humiliate myself further than I already have.’Nick raised a mocking ey
“Was that the case or were you actually trying to hit me?” Finn asked, his tone calm and his expression blank. “Because last I checked, I was on the pedestrian path, and you were the one out of your lane.”Jerome raised an eyebrow and smirked mockingly. “Don’t say something stupid! I can drive in whatever lane I please and people like you are the ones to scram when you see an Audi driving your way! But no—you just fucking stood there like some statue! What’s wrong with you?! Do you have a death wish?!”Finn let out a dry scoff, shaking his head. “People like me, huh? It’s enough to know that this was on purpose. You wanted to run me over. I should be the one asking you what the fucking hell is wrong with you?!”Jerome let out a cold, mocking laugh, looking at him with a condescending gaze. In a low, menacing tone, he said, “And what if I did try to run you over? There's nothing fucking wrong with me and I'm as sane as ever, you worthless idiot! What could you possibly do if I really d
The boys returned to the dormitory and Jason turned to look at Finn who was behind him. Who would have thought Finn was such a pushover with the kind of attitude he had?Jason gave him a grateful look, patting his arm and keeping his hand there for emphasis. “I don’t know how you managed to get such an expensive wine, but thanks for keeping quiet. You’re a good friend, Finn. You didn’t let me down, and now Melanie thinks the world of me.”Finn’s face remained stoic as he brushed Jason’s hand off. “Whatever,” he replied curtly.Jason chuckled, loving how he could get away with anything. “You know, for what it’s worth, Finn, that girl, Gia, I think she likes you. I mean, the way she was looking at you? Man, I’d say you’ve hit the jackpot.”Finn frowned as he made his way to sit on his bed. “Hmm. I don't think so. She was probably just being friendly.”Jason laughed, shaking his head in amusement as he found Finn funny. “You really know nothing, Finn. Were you blind not to notice that sh
