Chapter 41: The Freckles

Ron had a memory from his past life and all the horrors that had come with it. He held the wall in the hallway next to the elevator, forcing him to believe that he was just seeing things.

It was not possible, Ron decided and he pressed the button for the ground floor. Bella was safe in her company. Meanwhile, he needed to distract himself.

He hailed a taxi and made his way to the Freckles. The job for Tilly was still pending. He intended to wrap it up quickly.

“Shit,” Ron muttered when he realised he had forgotten to pick up his clothes from the dry cleaner. “Now I’d have to come back.

The driver glanced at him through the rear view mirror. “The name’s Jason. Do you think you could give me a five star rating on the app?”

Ron nodded, doing as he asked while the ride went on. It took about ten minutes for the man to weave through traffic and drop him off at the main entrance of the bar.
