Chapter 46: Taking The Brunt

Ron shook her hand despite his unresolved problem. “It was nice doing business with you, ma’am.”

She spared him a white smile, prolonging their hand shake and staring into his eyes. Ron felt uneasy. He cleared his throat and stepped back from her.

“You must stop by one of these days. We’d love to serve you here,” the woman said, walking him out.

Ron knew he’d have to come back here. The Black Scorpions which now belonged to him would be here for a while. He had another responsibility now.

He waved at the manager and patted Tiger hard on the head, whispering in his ear. “I want you to imagine your parts scattered across the floor every time you take in the view of the room.” He drew his ear harder again. “Do a good job here, so I don’t make do on my promise.”

The man gulped and bobbed his head until Ron let go of him. He put his jacket back on and arranged his cuffs. As Ron exited the building, his phone rang and he put it to his ear without checking the ID

“Hello?”

No answer.
