Back in the waking world, within the convention hall, Morpheus and Corinthian stood facing each other.

Morpheus examined the scar on his hand, the remnant of the earlier knife wound inflicted by Corinthian, and noticed that it was healing spontaneously.

Corinthian removed his black glasses, exposing his teeth eye sockets, "If you think I'm going to the Dreaming with you …," His sentence trailed off as he glanced at Morpheus and was interrupted.

Morpheus interjected firmly, "You won't be returning," he stated. "I brought you into this world to aid humanity, not to prey upon it," he clarified.

"Do you understand my motivation?" Corinthian inquired. "I do it to experience the sensation of hunger," he confided, revealing his longing. "And as for you, you're not concerned with humanity. Your priorities revolve solely around yourself, your domain, and your regulations," he accused Morpheus with anger in his voice.
