Time is passing. But they are unable to find any way to escape from this pit. They’ve spent the whole night just thinking about how to get out of here.

They can’t even start a fire. The space at the bottom of the pit is very small. Plus, it’s full of dry leaves. If they light a fire here, it will catch on those leaves. And once the fire starts, they will burn to death.

They’ve been sitting quietly for a long time. No one is saying anything. A storm of thoughts is going on in both of their minds. Suddenly, Peter spoke.

"How about we try something?"

Jack looked at Peter’s face. In the flashlight's light, he saw his face shining. By looking at his expression, Jack guessed that Peter must have found some way to escape from there.

"Yeah, tell me. What will you do?"

"I mean, what if we use two knives in both hands and climb up by hooking them into the wall?"

"I don’t think that will work," Jack said, shaking his head. "There would be too much pressure on your hands, and the knives won’t be

He shouted, "Snake... snake..."Although it was afternoon, the darkness under the hole was completely solidified. Jack turned off the flashlight, fearing the battery might run out. Hearing Peter's mention of the snake, he quickly turned the light back on. He directed the light to the spot where Peter was sitting earlier. What he saw there made him jump, just like seeing a snake. Peter, frightened, also looked in that direction. Their jaws dropped in astonishment. The end of a rope ladder was hanging there. The ladder, made of linen, was sturdy enough to be noticed immediately."Where did this come from?" Peter asked suddenly after a long pause.Jack absentmindedly shook his head. His expression of surprise faded. "I don't know. But someone is helping us. And they must have left this here.""But who are they?" Peter asked. In response, Jack shook hi

Due to the large hood on his head, his face was not visible. He held a golden cage in his right hand. In the moonlight, it shimmered with a golden hue. As he came closer, they saw the creature inside the cage. It was a giant crab scorpion, at least fifteen inches long. The underside

Jack picked up a magazine and flipped through the pages, avoiding eye contact with the girl beside him. If he looked at her again, she might throw another glare his way. But resisting wasn’t easy. They say that if a beautiful girl is sitting next to you, your eyes will naturally wander to her—whether you want them to or not. Jack was no exception. Peeking over the edge of his magazine, he stole a quick glance at her.Big mistake. The girl was already looking right back at him. Their eyes met, and this time, her gaze wasn’t sharp or annoyed. Instead, her blue eyes shimmered with warmth.“What are you reading?” she asked, reaching over and plucking the magazine from his hands before he could react.Jack froze. His mouth opened, but no words came out. He stammered for a second, but she just laughed—a soft, melodic sound that made it impossible to look away.Once her laughter faded, she said, “I’m sorry about earlier. Jo’s heart nearly jumped out of his chest. A small dog had been tied under the seat, and it lunged at his face. It was an Alabama breed, known for its fierce and aggressive nature. But this one? It was beyond aggressive—it was completely unhinged. Calling it wild would be an understatement. Jo had no idea why the old lady had brought such a beast along. Without wasting another second, he bolted, fear propelling his legs forward. While checking tickets, Jo got into a heated exchange with a middle-aged woman. He had asked for her ticket, and she rummaged through her bag and pockets but came up empty-handed. Finally, she sighed and admitted, “I must have lost it.”“Then you’ll have to pay a fine,” Jo said, firm but calm. The mere mention of a fine sent the woman into a rage. She insisted she was a regular on this route and argued that fining her was completely unreasonable. But Jo didn’t budge. “Either show the ticket or pay the fine,” he repeated.Frustrated, the woman snapped, “How muc

The rain quickly washed away the blood smeared on the window. Joe peered through the glass, but the darkness outside revealed nothing. Inside the train, murmurs among the passengers grew louder."What happened?" Orin asked, her voice laced with concern. "I don’t know," Joe replied, shaking his head. "Wait here. I’ll check outside." "Should I come with you?" "No need." Joe raised a hand to stop Orin. "I won’t go far, just to the door." "Alright then, go ahead."Grabbing a flashlight, Joe stepped into the train’s engine room. It was empty. He unlocked the control panel, but everything appeared normal. The rain had stopped, leaving only the damp scent of wet metal in the air. Shining the light around, he saw nothing but towering trees and dense bushes. The driver was gone.Unable to make sense of the situation, Joe turned his attention to the control tower. But neither the radio nor the telephone worked. Frustrated, he returned to the cabin and relayed everything to Orin. Their conversat

Luke sat alone, chewing on jerky. He didn't enjoy sitting idly like this; it felt monotonous. He needed to do something. But then, recalling Jack's warning, he hesitated. Jack had instructed him not to move from here. But for how long could he stay like this? He was already healed. So, what was the point of just sitting around? It was better to do something. Let Jack say whatever he wants later. But what should he do?The answer came immediately. Right in front of him were several dolphin trees. They don't grow very tall—about ten feet high and as thick as a fist. The main characteristic of these trees is that they are straight and very flexible, making them ideal for crafting bows.Without wasting any time, Luke used his pocket knife to cut down a six-foot-long dolphin tree. He split it down the middle, then carved and shaped it into a functional bow. Now he needed a string. Where could he find one? Vines could be used to make a string, but they wouldn't work well for a bow. He was t

Lily suggested."That could be done," Orin agreed. "But I think we should wait a bit longer."Lily looked at Orin inquisitively. "Why?""Imagine we go out looking for him, and he returns in the meantime. If he doesn't find us here, he'll get worried and start searching for us. The strain was pressing down on their ligaments — any more running and it felt like they might snap.Suddenly, Orin came to a stop. Bending over, hands on his knees, he gasped, “I can’t go any further.” He was panting heavily. Seeing him stop, Jack and Lily halted as well, collapsing onto the ground. For a while, no one spoke. The only sound was their ragged breathing.“I can’t take another step,” Lily finally broke the silence.“Me neither,” Orin agreed. Jack stayed quiet, though his legs were just as drained. It dawned on them that they had ventured deep into the jungle. The trees here were denser, their canopies so thick that barely any sunlight reached the forest floor. The ground was damp, and everything around them felt moist. It rained here almost year-round, making the humidity sky-high. The air felt heavy, with over eighty percent humidity, making t
