"Hey, twinnie. Where were you last night? I've been calling you nonstop," she innocently asks.
Lorde did not bother to look at her, but he managed to answer, "Lost my phone."
It must have been so hard to live her life. Being away from home for seventeen years must have been so tough. Losing Matt must have felt like hell. Being constantly sabotaged by Kate must have been so draining. And now, she is starting to doubt Lorde.
I examine her face. She is gorgeous. I wonder if I ever get to look at her and not feel guilty anymore. Does she know it is hard to breathe without her? Does she know it kills me to be around her, too? It is painful to see her act so tough and hear her sobs almost every night. Unexpectedly, her head falls onto my shoulder and memories rush to flashback like thunderbolts.

There was me and Quinn, walking down the aisle to our classroom chairs, young and innocent. Quinn unexpectedly tripped and flung onto me, causing both of us to fall face-first. Our classmates around us burst into laughter simultaneously.
"That's what happens when two losers walk together," a big, fatty, young boy quipped. I looked at him and realized that he tripped Quinn intentionally.
"I heard from mommy that Damon is an illegitimate child," another boy remarked.
The children around whispered as if they were surprised by the news they heard.
"I also heard that Quinn has a heart disease, and he will die soon," the big, fatty boy remarked and laughed his heart out.
"That's what you get when you don't get enough love from your parents," a skinny girl remarked. I joined Quinn as he slowly massaged his knee, which had quickly bruised.
A young girl in a tight ponytail quickly ran into the classroom and shouted, "Lorde is here!"
Our classmates quickly sat down in an instant, leaving only Quinn and me, nursing our bruises. After a while, two children with contrasting personalities entered: the cheerful Ethan and the quiet Lorde. They glanced at us curiously and walked closer, giving us goosebumps. They scanned our bruises. To our surprise, Lorde offered his hand to Quinn and Ethan did the same to me. Although hesitant, we accepted their hands and stood up.
"Who did it?" Lorde asked.
Quinn, with trembling hands, pointed to the fat boy. Without further questioning, Lorde turned his back on us to face the boy, who was taken aback. The whole class watched, almost holding our breaths, as Lorde stepped forward and stood a foot away in front of the fat boy.
"Do you want me to be your enemy?" Lorde asked.
The boy reflexively blinked multiple times before he managed to reply.
"N…no…Of course not," the boy stuttered.
"Then, stop bullying my friends," Lorde unhesitatingly responded. The whole class gasped and started murmuring. Quinn and I looked at each other, both surprised that Lorde delivered those words. We have known him for a long time, but he never talked to us. For all we know, Ethan is his only friend.
I do not know where we got the confidence but since then, we followed Lorde around. He was always silent, but he also never complained. Eventually, we were introduced to Matt and the five of us had been best of friends since then. Matt became a big brother to the rest of us.

One sunny day, I caught Matt staring at his phone while we were playing in the school playground. I sneaked at it from behind and saw a picture of a young, pretty girl. I felt my entire blood draining off. At that moment, I confirmed I had a crush on the girl.
I could not stop myself from saying, "Woah! She's pretty. Who is she?"
Matt was surprised by my hasty appearance and responded, "Hey."
I sat beside him and took a closer view of the picture on his phone. He showed it willingly.
"She's Beauty," Matt said with a smile.
"Is she an angel?" I bantered.
"She's my little sister," Matt explained.
"What? I didn't know you had a little sister."
I was quite surprised because, in our four years of friendship, I had never heard about Matt and Lorde having a sister. I have been in and out of their mansion hundreds of times but never saw a trace of her either.
"She is Lorde's twin sister."
Matt's response surprised me even more. I took his phone and stared at the photo for a few seconds.
"They don't look the same," I declared and handed him back the phone.
"Because they are fraternal twins," Matt reasoned.
"Introduce me to her, Matt."
"She's living abroad."
"Do you visit her?" I inquired.
"Yes, I promised to visit her every summer."
Matt smiled beautifully as we talked about her.
"Can I court her?" I persisted. Matt chuckled and patted my head like a big brother to me.
"No. You are still both so young."
"When I grow up, can we go there? I will make her my wife," I said imaginatively.
"No," Matt responded with conviction.
I pouted my lips, causing him to burst out in laughter.
"Maybe when you grow to be a good man," Matt said to comfort me. I was sure I could do it, and it made me hopeful and happy.
I stood up and gave Matt a snappy salute, "Aye, Aye, Captain!"
Years passed by and the five of us had been inseparable.
Also, since then, I never forgot about Beauty. Matt and the boys would laugh at me, but I was serious. I was so serious about her even though she did not know I existed. I want to introduce myself, but I respect Matt and Lorde so much. I want to win their trust first before I make a move.
"Welcome to the team, bro," Matt said as he hugged me after he announced that I was accepted into the school's football team. I was fifteen at the time when I applied to the team."Of course, all for Beauty." I shrugged my shoulder with pride."What?""I read her message. She's looking forward to seeing you play football." I laughed as Matt's eyes went round in surprise."Hey, that's an invasion of privacy," Matt remarked."She'd be pleased to see her future husband play football, too," I replied, dismissing his words."Hey, I haven't approved of you yet," Matt bantered and playfully messed up my hair."Why? I grew up to be a good boy."Matt giggled and put his arm around my shoulder."Fine, but only when she turns eighteen."#Another year passed, and I always wish I could turn back time. I was so excited that she turned eighteen, but everything changed in a snap. I just want us to be sixteen forever, even if that means I will only love her from afar. Just so Matt stays with us.It w
"Beauty and Lorde are both my life. I'd protect them even with my life," Matt said with determination. I let Matt speak and cry the whole time while I just listened by his side. I just wanted him to know that his voice was heard. After all, he is also a brother to me.It was around eight in the evening when I went back to the rest house alone. I asked Matt to come with me, but he wanted to stay so I let him be. I wish I did not walk away. I wish I stayed. I did not know nightmares would follow me as I stepped away."Where's Matt?" Quinn asked as I approached them in the kitchen. Quinn is sitting and immersed himself in his phone. On the side are Ethan and Lorde both wearing aprons tied loosely around their waists, skillfully peeling and dicing potatoes. No one would have thought how well-off the two of them were, judging from how expert they were in the kitchen at such a young age."Just enjoying the breeze outside," I replied. Quinn nodded his head in response. He went back to focus
Madame approached the doctor with her head held high. The doctor bowed his head as a sign of respect. The doctor's gaze shifted back and forth between Madame Fe, Lorde, and Lorde's parents. It seemed like he was hesitant to speak. "Madame," the doctor spoke. After a while, the door opened again, and we all turned our attention to the wheeled stretcher being slowly pushed by a nurse. On it was a body covered in white cloth. I felt my tears slowly streaming down. It seemed like all my strength had drained out, making me lean against the wall behind me. The nurse stopped pushing the wheeled stretcher when it was in front of Madame Fe. Slowly, Madame Fe pulled the cloth aside to reveal Matt's face. He was there – pale and lifeless. We all burst into tears, except for Lorde, who stared blankly at his brother's corpse, and Madame Fe, who emotionlessly covered Matt's face again. She is truly merciless. In the way she acts, it is as if the corpse in front of her is not her grandchild."I hav
Alhyssa's StandpointI feel the cold breeze hugging my whole body and dramatically blowing the pastel purple highlights of my hair beautifully. I am currently on the top floor of the girls' residential hall, standing on the center balcony that is connected to a hallway, and happily observing the view of the campus. As I stand here, my eyes scan the surroundings, taking in every detail of it, and in this tranquil moment, I cannot help but appreciate the beauty and serenity of the world around me. I gaze at the tall trees in front of the building that seem to be dancing as they sway with the wind. I shift my gaze to the vast space of the grassy open field, surrounded by numerous waiting sheds that are vacant. On the side are freshly bloomed flowers in which delightful and sweet scents permeate the air. Multiple students can be seen bustling through the campus grounds; others walk side by side, chatting animatedly, their laughter echoing through the pathways. What a sight to behold. This
There is a 350-meter distance from gate two to gate one. We keep running toward gate one. The hallway is large while its sides are forested. Before we reach the gate, we also pass the huge aylwards' shed on the right side of the hallway. When we get to the gate, we find the aylwards lining up and seemingly ready for any fight. They bow their heads and make way for us. We face them, turning our backs on the gate."What is the situation outside?" I ask."Forgive us, Valencias. We do not know the current situation outside. Thirty of gate one aylwards, together with the chief, went outside as we noticed the dimension had opened. They did not send any signal from then," one of the aylwards says."Open the gate. We'll check on them," Venice utters. Two of the aylwards move to open the gate, while the rest of them lines up at our backs to assist us in case of a sudden attack. From the gate, we can see the backs of the aylwards, holding their weapons and ready to defend the school. They are b
Everyone has all eyes on her. Her mouth-dropping aura is a bomb. Heck! How can she be both charming and cold at the same time?"It's ridiculous to act like a fangirl in situations like this, right?" Venice murmurs, keeping her eyes on Thania and addressing her questions to me and Blair."Definitely," I agree with a nod, while Blair giggles quietly.Thania moves forward, making the captain look anxious. He fakes a cough twice, then bows his head. There are only around half of his guards who are still standing up. The rest are lying on the ground, enduring their wounds."Good day, My Lady! We are just trying to inform you that we found these students…escaping your premises," he says nervously. I step forward to stand beside Thania. The aliens seem to be admiring her so much, too. Thania just stares at the city guards' captain for a while, making him even more nervous."We will now leave, My Lady. Thank you," the captain says politely while lowering his head and gulping twice."Let me re
Blair just looks at the glass of water for a few seconds. She then shifts her gaze to Quinn's eyes, stares at him, and lets Quinn's right hand go numb. There is an awkward and deafening silence in the room. All of a sudden, Quinn chuckles away and says, "Take this. You have to relax. I think you're prettier when you smile."Those words do not even disturb Blair. Her eyebrows are still crossed. She does not even show a ghost of a smile. She is very annoyed. Quinn is cute. His long hair fits him. But he looks flirty, and Blair is a Valencia. Nobody approaches or flirts with a Valencia. No one should. The tension subsides when Blair accepts the glass of water. When everyone thinks that everything is fine, Blair proves us wrong. She raises the glass of water and very slowly pours it over Quinn's head. Surprised, the girls gasped. Quinn's smile appears instantly, and he seems to be enjoying what Blair is doing. When the glass is empty, Blair puts it on the nearby table, shows a disgusted l
"But he's smart enough to play with your emotions," Blair cut her quickly."Look, I am not trying to be a villain here, but we have people to protect. I will set them off tonight before they make a move against us," Blair adds."But you cannot go out there and put yourself at risk of opening the dimension where a lot of city guards can kill you at any moment," Venice fires back."So, what now? Are you suggesting we kill Jax and those other mortals? Can you, Venice? Which death do you want them to take? To be killed by our own hands? Or to be killed by the Prime Lady and we watch them helplessly because we can do nothing just to protect our positions?" Blair asks. It is upsetting for sure, but Blair seems to be more worked up than any one of us.Thania moves, distracting us. We look at her and wait for her to speak."Hold the enemy captive," Thania says in a ruthless voice. This time, it is Venice who looks tense. We stayed silent for a while, absorbing Thania's decision.
