In his room within the Balruk estate, Xander stood before a mirror, observing his reflection in the dim light. His gaze lingered on the elongated fangs characteristic of his Blood Mage nature, a reminder of the power he wielded and the secrets he harbored. As he focused, willing his fangs to retract back into normal canines, a soft knock at the door caught his attention. He knew instantly it was Carmella. Composing himself, he walked over and opened the door to find her standing there, a vision of allure and vulnerability. Her silk nightgown subtly revealed more than it concealed, and her hair fell loosely around her shoulders, framing her face in an intentionally unguarded manner. The scent of her perfume, the one he had complimented, filled the air between them.
