The Last Conjura Chapter 20

ADRIAN OHARA

I watched with a wry smile as he walked on what was now dry land. The second he stepped out, the parted river behind him immediately collapsed. That'd mean Gabriella just released her technique. I sneaked a peek at her, and she was just as shocked as I was.

From the look on her face, she didn't understand what was going on either

Even after releasing Riptide, Ryuu managed to harness the tiniest bit of it, and kept his heart beating with the slab of circulating water on his chest.

"Miss Gabby, are you okay?" he emotionlessly asked.

"Y… yeah." she answered.

"Good. Who is he?"

"He's my…"

"Finally woke up, but on the wrong side of the river, I guess" I cut in before Gabby could talk. "That's one pretty solid 'harness' you've got going on" I gestured to his chest, but he didn't take his eyes off me.

"Miss Gabby, any orders?"

"Don't kill him… that's all."

"Mnn" he nodded, tilting his head down.

*ZOOMMMM*

He sped in my direction.

"Oh, you're fa

The second she walked passed the door, I broke down. “Why’d he have to save me?” I crashed to the ground under my body weight and buried my face in my palms. After playing it off for six months, I couldn’t do it anymore. I just couldn’t. I wasn’t better than my brother. I wasn’t even half the man he was. “You left me here to deal with all of this, you dick!” I muttered while my tears seeped through. “I couldn’t do it when you were here. Then what was the last—” “The Jinzhen’s! One of the strongest paranormal forces in the universe. You were about to explain the way their power works.” I lifted my gaze off the floor of our training facility, and emotionlessly glared at him. “…right?” He sighed in response. Yup, I was right. “I actually said the Jinzhen’s are one of the most overrated paranormals in the universe” he crossed his arms in front of him. “You weren’t listening, were you?” “Just explain what you were gonna explain anyway.” He stared at me for a while, but eventually got going. “Most people would believe that the Jinzhen’s are a

He wasn't a mimic, but somehow, he managed to hit me with super speed, a decent amount of super strength, and now, multiplicity. Whatever he was, I hadn't heard of it. But if multiplicity was his way of ending the fight, then one very important detail sprung to my intuition. One, if he's a low or moderate level threat, he's a newbie. Since when do simple
