I understand the nature of Mr. Harry’s job. It was never to trust anyone easily, never to be swayed by the sweet tongue of a suspect pretending to be a victim, and, of course, most importantly, never to be caught off guard, like a vigilant fortress standing firm against the tides of deceit.

And I did not blame him when he saw that I was already comfortable with the old man. He immediately pulled me back behind him, and Ethan, Samantha, Emily, Michael, and Benjamin swiftly formed a circle around Mr. Harry, like a loyal and impenetrable shield safeguarding their leader.
