"Whist!" Elberdin brought his index finger to his mouth, signaling Dmitri to keep Rasputin and Maria quiet. He didn't want any sound inside this house to escape. Elberdin looked at Pete and his wife and said slowly, softly, "This is not an earthquake. This is the sound of footsteps!"

"The sound of footsteps? You mean…" Pete frowned, still bewildered as he couldn't think of an answer to his question. Elberdin saw this, so he began to explain as thoroughly as he could in a voice low enough for him and his wife to hear: "The Footsteps of the One-Legged Chicken house."

The One-Legged Chicken House is one of the iconic images of Baba Yaga - the most powerful swamp sorceress that mankind has ever known. But she is a weird, weird person, ready to help people but also not afraid to kill or throw some evil curses at them. Baba Yaga often travels in her One-Legged Chicken house through the woods, but she rarely shows her face.
