Chapter 5: The Rain's Urgency

Leila quickly returned with a glass of water, her hands trembling as she handed it to her brother. They both knelt beside their unconscious mother, fear gripping their hearts.

"Mom, please wake up," Rayden pleaded, his voice laced with worry. "Leila, help me lift her head so she can drink the water."

Leila gently supported their mother's head while Rayden carefully tried to pour a few drops of water into her mouth. However, to their dismay, Mrs. Rebecca remained unresponsive. The water trickled from her lips, unable to be swallowed.

"Oh no, what do we do now?" Leila's voice trembled with panic. "Brother Rayden, we need to bring her to the hospital!"

Rayden's eyes widened, realizing the urgency of the situation. He nodded, determination replacing his fear. "You're right, Leila. We have to get her to the hospital immediately."

As they prepared to carry their mother, the sound of rain intensified outside. Dark clouds enveloped the sky, releasing a torrential downpour. The heavy raindrops pounded against the roof, creating a deafening symphony of anxiety.

"We can't go out in this rain, Brother. It's too dangerous," Leila exclaimed, her voice filled with worry.

Rayden looked out the window, his heart sinking. The rain was pouring relentlessly, forming rushing streams on the streets. The roads were quickly turning into rivers, making it nearly impossible to navigate.

"We can't just wait here, Leila. Mom needs help," Rayden said, his voice tinged with desperation. "We have to find a way to get her to the hospital."

Leila bit her lip, her mind racing with ideas. "Maybe we can call an ambulance? They could come and take her to the hospital safely."

Rayden nodded, grateful for his sister's quick thinking. He hurriedly searched for his phone, dialing the emergency number. However, as he pressed the call button, a frustrating message appeared on the screen: "No network connection."

"No, no signal!" Rayden exclaimed, his panic escalating. "Leila, what do we do now?"

Leila's eyes welled up with tears, mirroring her brother's distress. "I don't know, Brother. I don't know..."

After a few minutes of grieving and feeling trapped, a flicker of hope sparked in Rayden's mind. He remembered his friend Ricky, who owned a tricycle. Perhaps Ricky could provide them with a ride to the hospital.

"Leila," Rayden said, his voice filled with determination, "I have an idea. I'm going to Ricky's house for help. Stay here and take care of Mom."

Leila looked at her brother, her eyes brimming with both worry and hope. "But Rayden, it's pouring outside. It's too dangerous for you to go alone!"

Rayden grabbed his raincoat and umbrella, mustering up as much courage as he could. "I know, Leila, but we need help, and Ricky might be our only chance. I'll be back as quickly as I can. Just stay with Mom and keep her comfortable."

Leila nodded, tears streaming down her face. "Please be careful, Rayden. Hurry back."

Rayden gave his sister a reassuring smile before stepping into the relentless downpour. The rain cascaded down upon him, drenching him within seconds. He struggled against the strong gusts of wind, his heart pounding in his chest.

As Rayden made his way through the flooded streets, the water reached his knees, making each step a struggle. He gripped his phone tightly, praying for a signal to call Ricky. The rain battered against him, blurring his vision and muffling the sounds of his surroundings.

Finally, he reached Ricky's house, pounding on the door with urgency. Ricky opened the door, his eyes widening in surprise and concern at the sight of his friend soaked from head to toe.

"Rayden, what happened? You're drenched!" Ricky exclaimed, pulling Rayden inside.

Breathless and dripping wet, Rayden explained the dire situation. "Ricky, my mom... She collapsed, and we need to get her to the hospital. The rain is too heavy, and we can't find any other way. Please, can you take us in your tricycle?"

Ricky's face mirrored Rayden's worry as he quickly grabbed a towel and handed it to him. "Of course, Rayden. I'll get my tricycle ready. Just give me a moment."

Rayden dried his face and hands, his heart pounding with a mix of relief and anticipation. He knew time was of the essence, and he prayed that Ricky would be able to navigate the treacherous roads.

As Ricky prepared the tricycle, Rayden's mind raced with thoughts of his mother's well-being. He couldn't bear the thought of losing her, especially in such a critical moment. The intensity of the situation weighed heavily on him, fueling his determination to get his mother to safety.

Finally, Ricky announced that the tricycle was ready. "Rayden, let's go. We'll do everything we can to get your mom to the hospital."

With a newfound sense of hope, Rayden climbed onto the tricycle, gripping tightly to Ricky's back. The rain continued to pour relentlessly, but they couldn't afford to let it deter them.

As Rayden and Ricky arrived back at their home, they wasted no time in getting Mrs. Rebecca onto the tricycle. Rayden and Ricky worked together, their strength and determination evident as they carefully lifted her frail body and settled her onto the passenger seat. Leila quickly grabbed a coat and an umbrella, ensuring her mother would be shielded from the relentless rain.

"Mom, we're going to get you to the hospital," Rayden whispered, his voice filled with a mixture of concern and hope. "Just hold on, we're going to take care of you."

Leila, her eyes filled with worry, stood by the tricycle, ready to support her mother during the bumpy and challenging journey. She gently wrapped the coat around Mrs. Rebecca and held the umbrella above her, shielding her from the cascading rain.

Ricky, his face etched with determination, started the engine, the sound drowning amidst the heavy rainfall. The tricycle slowly moved forward, battling against the rising water on the street. The wheels struggled to find traction, causing the tricycle to skid and slide precariously.

Rayden tightly clung to his mother's hand, his heart pounding in his chest. He felt every bump and jolt of the uneven road, fearing the impact it might have on his mother's fragile condition. Leila's eyes were fixed on Mrs. Rebecca, her grip on the umbrella unyielding as she shielded her mother from the relentless rain.

The journey to the hospital was treacherous, with the water rising and the streets transforming into turbulent rivers. The tricycle waded through the murky flood, the engine straining against the weight and resistance. Rayden's heart sank with each passing obstacle, yet he refused to let despair consume him.

"Ricky, please be careful," Rayden pleaded, his voice filled with concern. "We need to get her there safely."

Ricky's knuckles whitened as he tightly gripped the handlebars, his focus unwavering. "I'm doing my best, Rayden. Hang on, we'll make it."

The rain continued to pour, and the atmosphere crackled with tension. Each passing moment felt like an eternity as they battled against the elements. The sound of rushing water and the distant rumble of thunder filled the air, heightening the sense of urgency and danger.

Leila's voice trembled as she spoke to her unconscious mother. "Mom, please hold on. We're almost there. Just a little longer."

Rayden's grip on his mother's hand tightened, his voice filled with desperation. "Stay with us, Mom. We're doing everything we can. You're going to be okay."
