Tian Fan placed the knives and needles, which had been soaked in hot water, on the table. A long table was already set up in the center of the room.

Mrs. Fan led her two daughters into the room and asked them to undress before directing them to immerse themselves in the bath tub filled with the mixture of herbs and liquor.

After a brief period, Jingmi was the first to be asked to exit the bath tub and move to the operating table.
