But so far, Oscar's efforts have been fruitless. Tate strongly resisted her advances by confining herself to the house, rarely venturing out unless there was an urgent need. Even then, she had to be watched from afar.

Neighbours who saw and heard about it became concerned about Tate's plight, but they could not do anything about it, as Oscar always sent his men to monitor Tate's activities daily, limiting her space.

The authorities also had no evidence to arrest them, as they committed no offence. They sat in the cafe, not far from Tate's house, drinking tea. There were few of them, only four to six spies. Therefore, they were considered not to have committed any unlawful acts.

But one day, Tate and his mother tried to escape their surveillance by moving out of his father's inherited house, but they discovered their efforts on the spot. The spies watching them became angry and forced Tate and his mother to return to his house.
