The hall was silent. Mauro breathed in deeply before lifting up his face. He swept a gaze around the trembling men in the hall and stood.

Raising two fingers, he told them, "You have just two days to find out who that man is... Just two days."

Some of the men already began to nod when he suddenly added, "If none of you can provide substantial information, don't bother to show up in front of me again. Just go and jump off the bridge!"

The heavily built men in the hall cowered at his words. They understood the underlying meaning of his statement. In order words, he was asking them to commit suicide which was a better choice than dying in his hands.

Without needing a soothsayer, they all turned around and quickly scampered away. Their time was counting down.

Mauro sighed and rubbed his aching temple. "I have no idea why I pay those fools so much and yet they can't do something so simple. How hard is it to find the identity of someone in my own city?"
