The room where the fallen angel slept was guarded by a pair of elven warriors. They bowed their heads and greeted Kyle as he and Irena approached.
“Have you sensed any movement inside?” Kyle asked after exchanging pleasantries. “Any signs of spells being cast?”
Both of the elven warriors shook their heads. “He is still fast asleep, Summoner.” One of them replied. “He hasn’t moved a single muscle, and his breathing is very shallow. His survival alone is a miracle, he couldn’t cast any spells at his current state.”
“Miracles are kind of his job.” Kyle muttered. “Right, we’re step inside.” Once of the warriors opened the door for him and Irena, and they stepped through.
This room was identical to Kyle’s room. The floor was covered with a thick, fluffy, dark coloured carpet. There were to windows in the room, both looking towards the courtyard where the evertree pierced the ground. A magical barrier covered those windows.
“The barrier still stands
Rhealis paused. She blinked a few times, then scowled. “Excuse me?” She asked, clearly confused. “There is someone who we can’t wake up.” Kyle explained, assuming her confusion stemmed from the absurdity of that idea. “I believe he is the key to these tremors and the storms.” The elf’s expression darkened. “You want my help to stop the tremors?” She asked, then suddenly laughed. “You are an interesting human, Summoner.” Kyle shot her an odd look. “…Right.” He muttered, unsure of what exactly she found funny about all of this. “Can you help me?” Rhealis nodded. “I can try,” She gestured him to lead the way. “Dream walking is dangerous, however. I cannot guarantee any results. Especially for the dreams of a human.” Kyle’s lips curled up with a faint smile. “It’s not a human who is asleep still.” He said as they arrived before the fallen angel’s room. He pushed the doors open, revealing the sleeping angel on the bed. “It’s an angel.” Rhea
“No.” Kyle shook his head. “No, there is no other solution. We’ve already tried.” He took a deep breath. “Guide me to his dreams.” Rhealis paused for a moment. Her lips formed a bitter smile. “Very well.” She said with a gentle voice. “Come then.” She approached the couch leaning against the wall on the far side of the room. “Lay down.” Kyle took off his cloak and shoes, then laid down on the couch. “There are three things you must never forget.” Rhealis said as she crouched next to him. “One; everything you see is real. Two; do not trust your instincts. Three; remember your name.” She looked him in the eye. “Never, ever forget your name. Do you understand?” Kyle nodded. “Good. Now, I can guide you to the Celestial Plane, but only so far. Once you are there, you must hurry. Find the angel. Only one who resides in the Celestial Plane can let you out of there.” Kyle gulped. “Understood. How do I find the angel?” Rhealis u
He stepped closer to the entrance of the church, despite his instincts. Rhealis’ words were still fresh in his mind. “Do not trust your instincts!” She had warned him. His instincts were screaming at him to leave this place, to go as far away as he could. So, he decided to do the exact opposite of it. He was going to step into this weird, abnormal, wrong church and see what the hell was going on. As he stepped though the slightly open door, he noticed something at the corner of his eye – a crimson string, floating mid air to his left. His heart raced. That was Rhealis’ guidance! Was he getting closer to the fallen angel? He hastened his steps and hurried over to the crimson strand. As he reached to catch it, it split into many more strands of crimson, and circled around him. He watched as the crimson strands slowly left him behind, floating deeper into the church. He followed without question. His environment changed rapidly as soon
Now, Kyle hadn’t travelled very much in his normal life, back in the real world. He never had the funds or the opportunity. But, he always had some interest in architecture, and despite his lack of expertise in the subject, even he could tell what was wrong with the grand cathedral the crimson strands had brought him to. Normally, cathedrals didn’t stand on their roof. Kyle stared at the upside down cathedral for a solid minute as he tried to comprehend just how something like this could have even happened. There was no visible damage to the building, so it wasn’t like it had been turned upside down by some mysterious attack or something. It was perfectly undamaged, and just happened to be standing upside down. The roof was on the ground, and the foundation was in the air. “What the hell…” He muttered as he felt dizzy again. How? Why? What?! There was a perfectly placed stairway leading up to the entrance. Almost as if it had been made so the
Kyle heard the sound of ruffling feathers behind him. His heart skipped a beat as he leapt back on his feet and turned towards the noise, only to see an angel floating just above ground before him. This angel almost seemed normal. It had the face of a man, a single pair of wings, and a book in his hands. His left eye was closed though, and he was staring at Kyle with his right eye, without blinking once. Kyle gulped as his heart raced. Now what? “A lost lamb, found its place to this place.” A mix of voices rose from the angel’s mouth. A woman’s voice, accompanied by a man’s and… Kyle didn’t even try to make sense of it. It was ear grating. “How interesting.” The angel added as it reached for Kyle with its empty hand. Kyle quickly stepped back. He was not going to let such a… weird thing touch him. “Do not escape from me, child. This is no place for human souls. You must return to your eternal rest now.” The angel insisted. “No, thanks.
As soon as the white light emanating from the angel touched his skin, he felt his strength rapidly drain away. Suddenly, just standing on his feet was a challenge. He grabbed onto the amber, right where he had scratched before with his spell. The smooth surface of the chunk of amber confused him for a moment. Had it fixed itself? Already?!“Now, let us see just how it is that a human soul has carried over his magic into the Celestial Plane.” The Angel muttered almost absentmindedly. Kyle gritted his teeth and pointed at the ground. “Sunburst!” he hissed as the angel approached him.A single spark of light appeared on the ground, where he was pointing, then, bright golden light pulsed outwards, spreading through the room. As soon as it touched the angel, it beat its wings and flew up.“Golden light – how disgusting and impure.” The angel said as it raised its hand. A bright light appeared in its palm, radiating wit
The Cathedral was silent except for the gentle wind that ruffled the Fallen Angel’s feathers. The Fallen Angel stood there, one hand resting on the amber that had trapped Kyle in place. His faze lingered on the young man.Kyle gulped. He felt like his worth was being calculated. Was he worth freeing, or was he useless to the Fallen Angel? Normally, this would get on the young man’s nerves. Now though, his mind was filled with fear – with the fear of being trapped here forever. He felt like he would do anything to get out of here. Anything.“Tell me something, human.” The Fallen Angel leaned down, until his eyes were at the same level as Kyle’s. “What stops me from leaving you here right now?”Kyle’s eyes widened. “After I went into so much trouble to get you out of this?!” He punched the amber with his free hand. “The least you could do is get me out of here!” Why the hell were
The wind blew in his hair and ruffled the Fallen Angel’s feathers as they flew through the skies. Well, Azazel was doing the flying. He carried Kyle like he had no weight. The young man could do nothing but look around wide eyed. “I find it surprising,” The Fallen Angel’s voice sounded. “How did you even find me in this Plane?” He gestured towards the wide, chaotic environment. “Any mortal would get lost here.” “I had the dreamer’s guidance.” Kyle muttered. “It was still difficult to find you, I came across some really… weird beings.” The Fallen Angel had flown through the city, and then below it, so they hadn’t come across the gigantic beings that had watched Kyle through the last part of his trip. “What beings?” The Fallen Angel asked as they began their descent. “An eye with six wings, for example.” Kyle sheepishly replied. Was he being rude? He didn’t know what would set the Fallen Angel off. He wanted to stay on his good side until they were out
