"Nathan? Have you already found a place to live?" Zilda asks intrigued.

"Yes, Mrs. Cardoso!" Nathan turns to her, "Thank you very much for your hospitality, but I don't need to stay here anymore. I won't bother the family any longer."

Zilda is happy. "It wasn't a bother. It's a pleasure to help friends of my daughter. Maybe she'll get a raise because of this?"

Nathan stares at Zilda in disbelief. Are the Cardoso family members really that brazen?

"It's my mother who has the final say," he replies neutrally.

"Oh, it's good that my daughter is also friends with your mother." Zilda grins, feeling hopeful. "Sometimes retirement money isn't enough to cover expenses. I once had to sell perfumes through catalogs, can you believe it?"
