At the Sterling Empire headquarters, Sheila is now talking to Karl via video conference.

“The old man Cardoso rejected our proposal?” Sheila reacts in shock.

Karl responds from his office, “That’s a shame. Even Elaine was disappointed.”

“Matt won’t like this…” Sheila grows suspicious. “I wouldn’t be surprised if he cancels his honeymoon plans with Elaine. And she could end the truce she and Vanda established.”

“There won’t be any need for that.” Jonah shakes his head. “Your son can travel freely; we’ll take care of this. After all, we need to be of some use, right?”

Sheila smiles, feeling more confident. “Did you read the article?”

“Yes, I skimmed it.” Karl replied with a smile. He had saved the Urbano article in his ‘favorites’ on his computer.

“The idiot called, wanting to convince me to come back, but I didn’t give him a chance. No ring in hand, no consent from me.”

“That’s right, friend.” Karl does not hide his satisfaction.

Sheila and he continue to chat amicably.

She introduced herself as the girl who was with Nathan Gouveia in that weird accident near the Happy Snack Bar.”Gustavo’s face turns red with embarrassment. “Yes, that’s going to become a stain on the Alvares family.”“She wanted to talk to you or your father.” Ronaldo completes the message. “She made it clear that she wants to talk at the Gibraltar Club. She’s expecting you at 7:00 PM because she doesn’t want to discuss this at home.”Gustavo smiles disdainfully. “Of course, she knows she has nowhere to run at home. Vanda shakes her head. “It’s not that our son is an offender; it’s probably Cindy who is the insatiable one!” Hélio purses his lips, skeptical. “Dear, you are too trusting of your son.” Patricia sits on the couch, trying to calm her nerves. “Are you saying that Jackson was UNTIL NOW...?” “He needs to work!” Hélio explodes. “I’m going to call Matt and ask if there are any ad campaigns for him.” “Do that, dear, but don’t let Germano arrest our son!” Vanda collapses onto the couch next to her daughter. Patricia is indignant. “That’s unfair. I’m upset because of the ‘Germano News,’ and it’s him who feels entitled to be offended by something!” Vanda takes her daughter’s right hand. “He’ll probably use the situation to take the rifle off his head.” “This isn’t going to stand! Who could have predicted something like this?” “Surprises in life, Mom,” Matthew philosophizes. “But remember: we still have Jonah as our best writer and bestseller. That hasn’t changed.” “I considered the possibility that he might throw a tantrum, terminate our contract, and go elsewhere,” Sheila admits, her smile fading. “Where would he go?” Matthew shrugs. “If he leaves Golden Letters for that reason, no publisher would take him, fearing reprisal from us.” “That’s not really what we do, is it?” Sheila glares at her son. “I want to work peacefully as a shareholder in the conglomerate.” “Relax, Mom,” Matthew smiles affectionately. “You’re not going to get into

Across town at the Borges House, the midday sun streamed into the dining room where Patricia was seated with Cindy and Jackson. She placed her wine glass on the table and leaned forward, eyes bright with anticipation.“Guys, I have a proposal.”“Sounds exciting!” Jackson replied.“Ron and I are thinking of taking a trip. Something to help us decompress after all the stress and drama we’ve dealt with.”Cindy nodded, understanding. “Makes sense. Silva Oil won’t be facing charges, you and Liz Silva made peace, and Liz cut ties with Elaine.”Patricia raised her glass in a one-woman toast. “Amen to that. So, Ron and I want to celebrate — but we don’t want to go alone. For obvious reasons.”Cindy and Jackson exchanged a knowing glance.Jackson, ever the older brother, spoke up. “Sis, under normal circumstances, I’d tell you to wait until after the wedding. But since you’ve already... had your first time, would it really be that terrible to be alone with Ron on a romantic trip?”Patricia’s s

  • Chapter 950 Facing Nathan – AGAIN!

Nathan returned from his parents' apartment to the beach house, under the midday sun, with a triumphant smile that practically screamed "mission accomplished." As he stepped inside, his voice took on a villainous tone, relishing his recent success.“My father’s letter made quite the impression on the sergeant,” he murmured to himself. “Now it’s just a matter of time before he digs into the case and realizes Lawrence Vieira doesn’t exist... nothing but a fabrication by Karl Sterling.”Making his way into the kitchen, Nathan opened the refrigerator, rummaging through leftovers and pulling out a few pans. He set them on the stove, beginning to reheat his lunch while continuing his monologue with the flair of someone who thought ten moves ahead.“And even if they dig into the past or someone brings up the car crash, no one can prove anything. It'll be the word of a man who used a fake identity... versus a famous pianist whose life was nearly cut short.”The soft hiss of reheating food fil

Around midday, inside the police station, Sergeant Carvalho leaned forward in his chair, intrigued by the theory Matthew had just put forth about the incident at Vicente’s live concert. The near-tragic “accident” that had almost claimed a life now seemed more calculated than coincidental.“I hadn’t thought about it like that,” Carvalho admitted. “I mean, I knew you and Mr. Hudson saw the two workers, but... a test?”“Exactly!” Matthew said, visibly energized. “It can’t be coincidence that the accident played out the same way as the earlier incident. And there’s more — I clearly remember commenting to Bryce about the piano’s position.”Carvalho began clicking and typing quickly on his computer, searching through digital statements.“Young Mr. Hudson didn’t mention that,” he muttered. “Looks like I’ll have to pay him another visit.”Matthew didn’t hesitate. “Have you or any of your officers found anything on ‘José Ramos’ or ‘Seb Nozes’?”With a serious expression, Carvalho shook his hea

At least Matt is putting his resentment on hold to focus on what matters.”Sheila rolled her eyes and took another sip. “I want to see you two hug like father and son.”“That’ll have to wait,” Karl replied. “Sgt.
