At Golden Letters, Matthew promises to create quite a stir with the news of Elaine’s dismissal.

Augusto was on the verge of tears. “Matt, are you serious? Me, promoted in place of Elaine?”

“You deserve it, Augusto. You’ve been working hard since we met. Brennon is now Jonah Lopes’s personal assistant. It’s your time to shine.”

“Thank you!” Augusto hugs Matthew tightly, no longer holding back his tears of joy.

Karl smiled approvingly at his son.

‘That’s my boy,’ Karl thought. ‘He’s fierce with enemies but fair to those who are loyal to him.’

Augusto stepped back, wiping his tears. “OK, I don’t want to stain your nice clothes.”

“You can go out and celebrate,” Matthew replied in a lighter tone.

Karl extended his right hand. “Wait, aren’t we rushing things? What did Elaine say about this?”

Matthew turned first to Augusto. “Could you give us a moment, Augusto?”

“I think Brennon is around. I hope he doesn’t die of jealousy!” Augusto ran out of Karl’s office.

Jackson had the same reaction as Hélio and many men – Fernando should not defend Patricia. “Where was Ron at that time?” Jackson asked, echoing his father’s thoughts. Hélio frowned, agreeing with the sentiment. “Ron must have been working, taking care of his own life,” Patricia replied with some impatience. “Now Mrs. Alvares is insinuating that it’s Fernando, not her son, who is infatuated with me.” Cindy shook her head. “Of course, people. A mother will always defend her son.” Hélio couldn’t take it anymore. “You women seem to overlook the obvious: there’s something wrong with Fernando Silva!” All eyes turned to him. Hélio continued, “This probably has to do with his wife. Given how annoying she is, they’re surely sleeping in separate beds.” Patricia turned to Jackson. “Didn’t you hear any commotion at the clinic yesterday?” “At seven at night, I was already asleep,” Jackson replied while eating more kiwi pie. Patricia took a deep breath. “Because of all this, Liz had a leg

At Borges House, Vanda’s phone beeped while she washed the used dishes. “Where is the maid, Vanda?” Cindy asked, intrigued. “I sent her to take care of the laundry,” Vanda replied, still willing to do housework. Her phone beeped with a message notification. “Can you check for me, dear?” Vanda asked, having her hands soapy. Noticing that Vanda’s phone had no password, Cindy checked the message. Patricia walked by them. Cindy read, “Vanda, Larry Vieira is announcing that Matt fired Elaine from her position as editor-in-chief of Golden Letters. He is really going to divorce her!” Vanda dropped the dishes noisily in the sink. Patricia’s eyes went wide. “NO!” Patricia screamed horrified. “Now people will say that Matt is doing this to win me back! Ron is going to have a fit!” “Where is he now?” Vanda asked, picking up the dishes from the bottom of the sink. Luckily, none of them broke. “He’s sleeping after spending the night at the clinic, taking care of that damn mother,” Patric

At the beach house, Vicente, Andreia, and Nathan were still stunned after turning off the TV in the living room. The press conference had been broadcast live, and by this time, everyone in Blue Cove knew that Ernesto Alvares had suffered an accident at the docks because of Fernando.Nathan broke the silence, his voice dripping with sarcasm, “At this rate, another source of income for Matt dries up.”“What do you mean, son?” Andreia asked, leaning back on the couch.“Matt had bought shares in Silva Oil Company. Now Patty Borges works there,” Nathan replied with an ironic smile. “Do you want to know what I think?”Vicente rubbed his hands together, ready for more intrigue. “Tell us, son!”“This fight happened because of her. Bella’s father or her brother – or both – must have seduced or tried to seduce her in some way.”Andreia frowned. “But why did Fernando defend Patty and not his son?”“The old man must be in love with his own son’s fiancée,” Vicente unwittingly hit the nail on the h

Even if he felt that Matthew was telling the truth, what he wanted was to accuse Matthew of the worst things just to cause him more trouble. That’s why he replied cynically, “Doesn’t look like it. And what’s that hole there?”“She was in there; I pulled her out!” Matthew shouted, holding Elaine and making her sit up.“You were going to bury her alive in that hole, saw the bathers approaching, and had a change of heart, didn’t you?” Vicente asked scandalously.“SHH! They’ll hear us!” Matthew pleaded through clenched teeth. But that’s when Vicente shouted at the top of his lungs, “I hope everyone sees how Matthew Sterling is nothing but a murderer! It wasn’t enough for you to try to kill my son; now you wanted to kill Elaine because she’s been giving you trouble, r

Why do people never do what we ask them to? Elaine rubbed her temples. “Urgh... I ran into two men dressed in black suits, saying: with compliments from the Bento family. I didn’t even have a chance to scream for help. They shoved a cloth with that stuff we see in American movies over my face, and I don’t remember anything else.” Matthew shook his head. Damn, Karl! “Well, you need to believe me. Evan and Jarbas are coming with your things.” Elaine’s eyes widened. “WHAT? You already decided that—” She collapsed onto the still - dusty sofa, disheartened. “MATT! You can’t do this!
