Tuesday, Sterling Mansion.

Jarbas opened the main door to various journalists who had come for the big press conference.

Elaine appeared coming down the stairs, composed, confident, aware that she was doing the right thing.

“Mrs. Sterling,” Jarbas greeted her formally. “Everything is almost ready. You can head to the ballroom.”

“Thank you, Jarbas.” Elaine smiled gently.

Jarbas sighed, wishing that Elaine would always be this way, proper and decent.

If she were always like this, she wouldn’t have to apologize to the public, exposing herself unnecessarily.

The doorbell rang again, and Jarbas opened the door. It was Cindy.

Elaine had already turned the corner.

“Good morning, Jarbas. Am I late?” Cindy asked anxiously.

“Miss Cardoso, are you the one representing Urbano?” Jarbas swallowed hard.

“Yes, I received a direct call from Matthew about that.” Cindy held up her cellphone. “I promise to write a fair article for the magazine.”

“The event will take place in the ballroom.” Ja

That sounds very offensive, forgive my honesty!” “Stop it, KARL!” Sheila became even more irritated. “Enough with the lies! You don’t just resemble him, you ARE him! You’re not Lawrence Vieira, YOU ARE MY HUSBAND!” “Why did you come to that absurd conclusion?” Karl scratched the back of his neck, buying time. “A woman knows her husband,” Sheila simply replied. Karl muttered ‘damn’ under his breath. Sheila’s eyes began to fill with tears. “Why, Karl? WHY?” “Sheila, you’re—” “Don’t call me crazy!” Sheila yelled. “I could sneak into your bathroom and take a strand of your hair for a DNA test, but I preferred to confront you and hear the truth from your mouth!” Karl was even more startled by the possibility of Sheila acting like a spy. “Why did you think that?” He

I wouldn’t tell anyone!” Karl took a deep breath. “As I told you, I didn’t know what situation I would find. You could be in danger if you knew I was alive. Sheila, you have no idea how much I suffered all those years while being held captive!” Something in Sheila began to soften, growing empathy for Karl. “You were held captive all this time?” “Yes, that’s why you all believed I was dead. How could I show up to prove otherwise? They knew exactly what they were doing.” Karl confirmed, looking down. “It was Vicente, wasn’t it?” Sheila narrowed her gaze. Karl lifted his head. “Yes, it was Vicente.” “For God’s sake, now he’s

In fact, we took too long to explain things to the public.” Matthew chuckled.“I was afraid of losing you, my love,” Elaine replied romantically.“You would have lost me if you kept denying your mistakes, making me believe that you wanted to run Jackson over on purpose,” Matthew warned her.Elaine shook her head vehemently. “No, I’d never want to do something like that.”Matthew’s phone rang, and he answered, seeing who it was.“Hello, Mom.”On the other end, Sheila was in the living room of Karl’s apartment, sitting on the couch.“So, you decided to keep the marriage.”“You don’t sound very happy about it.” Matthew frowned.“I already knew what you wanted to d

At Andrade Clinic, in the dimly lit maternity wing, Vicente paced nervously in the hallway. He hadn't arrived in time and was now stuck waiting outside the delivery room. Beside him stood Dr. de Paula, trying to offer some semblance of comfort. From inside the room, muffled sounds carried into the corridor — the firm voice of Dr. Jardim giving instructions, and Andreia’s groans of effort and pain.“Let’s go, Mrs. Gouveia! Push!” Dr. Jardim urged from within.“ARGH! URGH!” Andreia’s strained cries followed.Vicente turned anxiously to de Paula. “In Hollywood movies, they let the father go in!”“Calm yourself, Mr. Gouveia,” the doctor replied gently. “If you go in now, you’ll disrupt the flow of the birth.”“I just want to be there for my beloved and hold my second child,” Vicente murmured, wringing his hands. At that moment, Dr. Almeida approached, clipboard in hand.“I’m glad you confirmed this statement, Mr. Gouveia,” she said.Vicente’s brow furrowed. “Why is that, Doctor?”“Well,”

At the Sterling Cultural Hall, down its opulent corridors now lit with a cold, clinical brightness, Elaine Sterling had taken it upon herself — uninvited — to serve as the hall’s official spokesperson. She stood confidently in front of a swarm of cameras, microphones, recorders, and flashing bulbs, offering a polished smile to the hungry press.“Mrs. Sterling, what really happened?” one journalist asked. With theatrical flair, Elaine responded, “A regrettable accident.”Another reporter, less tactful, shot a blunt question. “Did your husband want to kill the pianist?”Elaine’s demeanor didn’t flinch. “If that ends up in your paper, expect a court summons, young man.”The questions grew more pointed. “Everyone knows your husband and the pianist’s son despised each other.”She raised an eyebrow. “If that were the case, wouldn’t the spotlight have fallen on Nathan Gouveia’s head instead?”The journalists exchanged uneasy glances — her logic, though bold, was hard to refute.“Was your hus

The spotlight crashed down, right next to him.”Linda picked up the thread. “He fell to the side, and for a moment we thought he’d been hit.”Vicente stepped closer, his usual smugness intact. “Good thing I wasn’t!” he quipped with a grin.Charles looked over his shoulder at his son and future daughter-in-law. “Mr. Gouveia, your wife’s already been admitted to the maternity wing.”Still dressed in her evening gown, Linda moved behind the front desk with ease, naturally falling into her familiar receptionist role. I wanted to come clean to the entire audience — explain why I disappeared all those years ago.”“Cool,” Bryce chimed in, clearly impressed by the audacity of it all.Edmund, however, wasn’t amused. His voice dropped, serious and firm. “Karl, that would’ve been counterproductive. Vicente would’ve hit you with the usual ‘you have no proof,’ and you’d be the one who looked bad.”“I’m not trying to spark a police investigation,” Karl said. “I know that’s impossible. It’s been over twenty years. But Vicente knows he’s not innocent.”“Just that might be enough,” Bryce added thoughtfully. “A chunk o

  • Chapter 911 Didn’t Andreia Gave Birth Before?

Across town, the Andrade Clinic bustled with movement as the medical team prepared for Andreia’s arrival. Doctors, I’m counting on your efficiency.”The paramedics reentered, wheeling Andreia in on a gurney. She was breathing the way she’d been taught in prenatal classes — though anyone paying close attention might have noticed she seemed like someone experiencing it all for the first time. That detail, small as it was, could raise questions about whether she had actually given birth to Nathan in the past.Sheila was the only one who picked up on it.“That’s right, Andreia,” she said with a knowing glance. “You’re a pro at this already, aren’t you?”Startled, Andreia quickly corrected her demeanor, remembering to fake the confidence of a wom

No photos, no videos — just silence and awe.It was as if the entire hall had been transported into the very soul of his performance. The camera of the moment shifted, panning slowly from Vicente’s focused expression to something far less expected — an overhead spotlight. At first glance, it seemed secure, screwed tightly into its rig.
