"Whoa, Soo-Ha-ssi! I wasn't expecting you to be that good!" The male judge who previously held a bit of contempt for him now looks at him eagerly. ".... I practiced hard to sing it well" Another judge intercedes as he comments; "No, this is something you're born with, you have talent." The man who is one of the main mentors looks at Soo-Ha with expectation, 'His got potential to be the main vocalist …. we were actually lacking vocalists this year.' He is a famous lyricist who was popular for his blunt critique. He smiles all the way up to his eyes, indicating just how much of a liking he has taken to the contestant. Soo-Ha smiles softly as he thanks him for the praise. The judges continue with their rain of compliments. Especially the female singer, who appeared as the vocal coach. The formal idol, Hyo begins her evaluation. "Firstly, your vocal colour is very refreshing. Your vocalisation and enunciation are good too, so that it sounds pleasant to the listener." "Right,
As the familiar intro began and passed by, the lively vocals struck the ears of listeners. Soo-Ha, who goes with the most iconic pose, raises to fists to his cheeks as he tilts his head as he waits for the cue. As one of the judges spat out the water he was drinking. HA! Don't lose, don't lose, don't lose, quickly Don't lose your temper so, so, so quickly, your- so quickly Bo Peep Bo Peep Bo Peep Bo Peep Bo Peep Bo Peep Bo Peep Ah! The only person who seems to be watching his simple steps with eager eyes is the choreography instructor. While the rest along with the crowd of idols, smiles stretch to their eyes as they enjoy the unexpected scene of liveliness. The dance was not overly complicated, heck the song was the national anthem for all kindergarteners at the time. The song which was released 5 years ago, is clearly a relic of its time. An EDM-pop hybrid which instantly shot to number 1 on the Oricon Chat and top 5 on the Gaon Music Chart. ARA's , sc
"Park Soo-Ha... Overall evaluation A, Rank 6th Place!" Soo-Ha hadn't expected to be ranked so high, just for setting the mood. What Soo-Ha forgot to include in his assessment though, was the effect of his face. The ugly truth was that Soo-Ha was experiencing the phenomenon known as pretty privilege. If someone, is easy on the eyes, the enjoyment we derive from looking at them colours our perceptions of their other attributes. On the flip side, this colouring of perception also leads to higher expectations. The so-called beauty penalty. People tend to also have very high expectations as a result of looks, so when they fail to live up to those expectations, they're punished more harshly than un-pretty people. Soo-Ha didn't know but with the raise in expectations from judges, any mistake going forward would be penalised brutally. Thankfully, he had a certain 'skill' which would allow him to meet and exceed any expectations going forward. "I hope to teach you well, so aim even hi
Charm? What is Charm? The words charming and beautiful are often used interchangeably, but they are not the same. A beautiful woman/man may or may not be charming, but a charming man/woman is by default beautiful. Beauty can be inherited, but charm cannot. Beauty is skin deep, whereas charm much more than superficial layer. Beauty fades, while charm remains. Beauty is the way you look and dress. Whereas Charm is the way you talk, the grace with which you walk, the way you respond to situations, the pitch of your voice, your choice of words, your tone, your smile, the way you laugh. Charm is an attitude one carries. Charming men and women emit a natural aura as if there is a magnetic force field pulling one's attention towards them. "Beauty can turn heads; Charm will turn Souls" It appeared that his charm was calculated from the previous performance. When practicing, it never appeared. Maybe he needed it to be formally recognised in order for it to be calculated. Soo-Ha was
[Name: Go Yoojun] Vocal: B- (A) Dance: A (Ex) Visual: A+ (S+) Charm: B (A+) Attribute: Determined (Not Activated) Status effect: Disesteemed Staring at the ridiculous potential of the boy, Soo-Ha is both jealous and awed. He has all the makings of an all-round idol, a so-called Golden egg. How did a guy like this not make it? Well, the answer seemed to be staring Soo-Ha right in the face. [Status effect: Disesteemed] With that face? It would make more sense if he was suffering from prince syndrome. As Soo-Ha continues to look at the status curiously, he hears the MC's voice through the speakers. "Okay, please introduce yourself." Go Yoojun proceeds to grab hold of the microphone. The hand that was holding it, is shaking tremendously. "Ah...He-Hello..." Go Yoojun didn't stutter because he was nervous, rather his awkward speed was due to him feeling uncomfortable in public speaking. Ever since Go Yoojun was young, he'd be praised for his looks and talents. What came w
"Cut! Thank you all for the hard work! Contestants, please follow the staff for further instructions-" *Clap Clap* Applauses and replies began raining from around the studio. As Soo-Ha stretches slightly as to relief his muscle strain over the past few hours. "Make sure to double check your room number – You can find them on the board!" The accommodation was a 10-minute walk away from the set. The success of the previous seasons is clear to see, as the newly built dormitory is situated in the picturesque mountain site behind the broadcasting station. Even though, the temporary home was quite close to the station, the contestants still used transportation to get there. The reasons were quite obvious. The Assistant Directors were expecting to get a couple more shots suitable broadcast. As with almost everything in this show, the method of transportation would depend on the rank you achieved. "Contestants! If you are in the top 10, please make your way over here " "Hey, it's a
"Park Soo-Ha!" His name is called, in order of ranking, and as expected he had gotten 'Master Vocal' and 'Novice Dance'. The golden badge with the words vocal engraved is vastly superior in quality than the dark bronze badge which sits on the collar of Soo-Ha's track-suit jersey. To be honest, while those ranking high at the beginning received certain privileges, it was much more advantageous to be put in the lower-level classes. That way you could create a story. The biggest part of any contestants' journey, is his narrative. While some went with sympathy, others showed extreme skill. But the most captivating of them all was the underdog, the one who was a diamond in the rough. Something hidden and moulded by the views and dreams of the viewers. A good example of the underdog/black horse figure can be seen near the corner of the room. He was quite good-looking and composed even though he had just been given low grades. His story would later be broadcast, but the unfa
Calories. On average most people burn about 15% fewer calories while sleeping, compared with their basal metabolic rate during the day. What that means is that when one stays up all night, they will burn a lot more calories than sleeping especially when you are extremely active. On the first night that Soo-Ha had stayed up all night, he felt uncontrollably hungry once breakfast came around. "T-This...would you like mine." Like an angel descending to bring water in a desert Go Yoojun, offers him some chocolate. Soo-Ha felt so grateful, he vowed to save this boy with every ounce of his ability. For the next few days, he stuffed as much food into his mouth as possible. The rice …. tasted like … rice, but it was good and there wasn't a limit to the amount he could eat. On, the second to last day, he had finally been able to perform the choreography with no mistakes from beginning until the end. Being able to spend the whole night practicing without feeling fatigue had certa
