The rain was getting more and more heavy in the city. Amber kept her gaze wandering, looking out through the windshield.
If she hadn't left with James, she would have to wait at the Eclipse for hours, as there was no sign of the rain stopping.
James was still focused on the road ahead, right hand holding the steering wheel and left hand holding the gear.
"Thanks for taking me home, by the way," Amber said.
"You're welcome. We are coworkers, even though we are on different teams. So, don't feel shy like that," James explained.
The two fell silent again, Amber still enjoying the heavy raindrops that continued to fall on this car driving on the city highway.
Amber's residence was in an elite residential compound east of the city. Given her larger salary than James, it wasn't strange that she lived there.
"Is it nice working with Dr. Issac?" asked James, starting the conversation to avoid awkwardness.
"What do you mean?" asked Ambe
***Three days later."Can you get two gingers for me, James?" asked Iris. The woman seemed to lack the ingredients to make the herbal medicine the team had planned in the first briefing. James nodded. This could be his chance to take two samples from Issac's secret project.James held up a glass bowl where the herbal ingredients would be collected. He watched ahead at the other staff, who seemed to be busy with their work.Issac was out of sight just in time for James to take the two samples."Prime," said James softly.[Prime Activated][Is there anything you need, Mr. Lawrence?]"Connect to the security camera computer. James and Amber looked at each other for a long time in the toilet. In the end, the woman sighed softly as her hands clasped around her waist. "Gosh, what exactly was Red Eye doing in Eclipse?" Amber asked. "That's not something you should worry about," James replied. Amber looked confused, with one eye closed, looking at James, who was standing before her. The woman started to stand up from her seated position, tidying up her appearance, which looked shabby due to the short dispute. "From the way you've been behaving to the point of stealing the sample. I'm sure you're investigating a medication, right?" Amber asked. James pulled out the toilet paper, wiping his dirty fingers from Amber's makeup. She stepped out of the toilet and stared into the sink mirror. Her hand reached into her handbag, grabbing some cosmetics to touch up her makeup. James' rough demeanor while holding Amber's mouth had left marks around the woman's mouth and cheeks. "So, what's your decision?" asked Jame
James re-holstered the handgun he was holding. He walked over to Amber as he held his hand out to her, accepting the plastic with the DD pills. "If they do, does that mean it's produced there?" asked James, curious. "Issac told me there was a secret facility used to make the pills, but he didn't explain further where it was," Amber said. "Do you know what the pill could do?" asked James. Amber shook her head. Issac had only told her in brief that it was a sedative, which was why no one was allowed to work on the secret project. "Isn't it just like a normal sedative?" Amber asked. "I guess you didn't know it, huh? It's fine," said James. He kept the pill and refused to give it back to Amber, so the woman before James was even more confused by the man's attitude. "Why did you keep it? Is it the drug that made you get into Eclipse?" Amber asked. "That's right. I'm getting close to the suspect in this case. I need you to keep out of this," Amber pleaded. "Tch, I have a lot of wor
"Who? Tell me again?" asked Caroline. "Y-yes. Someone paid the bill for Mr. Zachary and Mrs. Liliana's treatment," said the administrative staff of St.Park Hospital. The woman seemed nervous about explaining this, given that Dave had asked her to manipulate the name of the person who paid the bill. The middle-aged doctor also told the staff that the person who paid the hospital bill was someone from the Lawrence family. "It says in our system Mr Alexander Lawrence paid it," the administrative staff said. "Alexander? Don't be joking!" Caroline replied. Madam Margaery showed a different response. She was deeply shocked to hear the Lawrence family was paying for the care of the two people. Instead of being grateful, the old woman was furious, as if Lawrence had dropped Rosewood's pride. "I will go to their mansion to pay for all this! They think a family like ours can't afford it, huh?!" moaned Margaery, taking out her anger on th
In the end, Tobias chose to keep his reputation and let Caroline stay in the arms of her husband, James. He said goodbye to the people in that place, but Caroline didn't move her head, not even looking at Tobias leaving.Caroline was still hugging James' body tightly. Her crying had stopped just as James was trying to soothe her heart.Suddenly, Caroline's body became weak when she was in James' arms. The woman fell unconscious due to her energy being drained because she was too lost in grief."Caroline," said James."What happened to her?" asked Liliana."She fainted. If she's lost in grief, her energy is drained, and she'll collapse," James replied. He took Caroline's body in hi
CLEK!James heard a suspicious sound from the entrance of Amber's house. He stepped closer to the bedroom window and peered through it.Two black SUVs were parked right behind James' car. They were the cars that had been following him since he left the Eclipse office."So, they were really following me," James said, whispering."Prime," said James.[Prime Activated][Is there anything you need, Mr. Lawrence?]"Activate night vision," James requested.[Command received][Activating night vision mode]The lenses of James' glasses turned greenish in color. James could see clearly even though the lighting inside the house was dark. Not only did he hear the opening door, but he could also hear another sound walking in, the sound of someone's steps. The sound rumbled, indicating more than two people had entered the house.James held the gun tightly in his right hand. When he stepped silently through the be
***The next day.James arrived at the Eclipse building, in the parking lot, to be exact. From the entrance, many people with cameras and mics were gathered in front of the office. The man caught a glimpse of them as he entered the building. The security guards tried to guide the journalists to wait; Eclipse would speak through a spokesperson.James got out of his black sedan, walking in with a black suit, white shirt, and black trousers, typical of businessmen. The entrance door from the direction of the parking lot opened, James' eyes saw that the staff were also standing in the lobby, talking to each other about the issues that were spreading in the place."What's going on?" as
"Tch! No matter how much I ask, you will always be evasive," Issac said. The middle-aged man complained as he sighed softly. His right hand seemed to be massaging his left temple lightly, trying to ease the headache that was happening in his head in response to something as complicated as this."You are finally starting to understand me, Mr. Issac," James said.Issac fell silent right before James, the man's eyes watching James' movements. Issac sat back in his chair, as did James. He turned his head to the right, telling the two big men in black suits to leave. They, for some reason, obeyed Issac's orders."Let's keep it simple," Issac said."We'll pretend this conversation was n
