It was towards evening time when Victor received an email on his phone. He had been working in the garden as soon as Raul returned to give him his uniform. Working there allowed him to observe what was happening in the house.
Towards midday, Bentley stormed out of the house after what seemed like a fight with his fiance Eleanor. She ran after him but when he got into a car and zoomed off, Eleanor stood by the side. She then caught Victor watching and hurried inside.Victor also observed that Phil was watching him closely all through the day, and when he got the email, he made sure that he was in the clear before he checked it."Liberty Street, 8 o'clock," was all the email said. Victor checked the sender and it was the whistleblower. He smirked."About time," Victor said and then kept his phone. As soon as he was done for the day, Victor was sent away because Phil did not let his servants live with him. He said it was for privacy purposes but Victor suspected that it was because he did not trust anyone. On his way home, Victor stopped at the tiny Liberty Street and waited for someone to show up. Liberty Street has been rumored to have all manner of evil people walking through it. It was like a meeting place for gangsters and Victor did not let his guard down for that reason."Are you Victor Storms?" A voice called to him and Victor turned around. Lucas stood there and although he tried to conceal his badge, Victor already saw it."A cop? Never would I have imagined that the famous whistleblower was a cop," Victor said to Lucas. Lucas arched a brow."How can you tell?" He asked in curiosity."Your badge. You did not conceal it very well. And also, you are keeping your gun on the left side of your waist. You are relaxed because you think that you have me cornered but that's not the case, is it?" Victor asked him. Lucas stepped closer to him."You are not some random guy. How did you get a hold of the information that you sent to me?""I have a friend," "I demand to see this friend of yours,""You are in no position to demand anything. The reason why I agreed to speak with you is because I still want you to expose someone else. But now that I know you're a cop, I have another assignment for you," Victor said and Lucas laughed. "Unbelievable. Just who the hell do you think you are?" He asked, raising his voice a bit."I am Victor Storms. I am the nephew who was assumed to be dead, and I am here for vengeance. I am the true heir to Bernard Incorporated. You, my friend, can either choose to be a friend or an enemy," Victor told him. Lucas did not know what to believe. Victor was not dressed like an heir. But something about him told Lucas that Victor was no ordinary man."What do you want me to do?" Lucas asked him."Arrest Thomas Knight, and grant me an audience with him. If you do this, I will help you to climb the ranks quickly. There are so many evil people that we must get rid of and I'm sure that's why you became a whistleblower," Victor said. Lucas thought about it for some time before he finally gave Victor a nod."The name is Lucas Castillo. Let's get this clear. I don't really like you, Victor. But I know you are someone I can work with,""I don't like you either," was Victor's honest reply. Lucas scoffed."I have arrested Thomas Knight already. He is in a prison cell as we speak. The last time I checked, he was asking for his lawyer. Come with me if you want to speak to him," Lucas said and walked towards his car. Victor followed him.Along the way, Victor stopped by a mall and got himself an expensive suit. Lucas definitely believed that he was smoking rich when Victor stepped out of the mall. As soon as they got to the station, Lucas took Thomas to the investigation room and there, he found Victor waiting."You..." Thomas muttered when he saw Victor sitting calmly in the interrogation room."You have five minutes," Lucas said to Victor and stood at the side of the room."I knew I wasn't going crazy. It is you, isn't it? You did this!", Thomas snapped at Victor who just kept smiling."Don't do that! Don't fucking smile!!" Thomas yelled and banged the table. Lucas glared at him and he composed himself."Thomas Knight. As of now, I am the only one who can help you. You have serious offenses against you right now. All of your evil deeds have caught up with you and your wealth has been seized..." Victor leaned closer to him. "You know you cannot get it back for your lawyer can't wriggle you out of this,"Then he leaned back again and sighed."Which is why I want to propose a deal for you. As of yesterday, I now own 30% of your company. That means I'm eligible to buy it. I want to give you the sum of one hundred million dollars for it," Victor said and smiled.Thomas just chuckled. "One hundred million dollars? My company is worth a hundred times that amount!""Yet you have nothing. Your friends have abandoned you. You will get no help from anywhere and if your lawyer discovers you are broke, you won't even have anyone to plead your case. Unless you take this offer..." Victor then took out his tab and opened a contract before him."Sign it," he told Thomas. Lucas just gazed at the both of them. Where did Victor get such an amount of money, he wondered. He thought Thomas wouldn't sign but the very best second, he placed his thumb on the spot indented on the document and it scanned. Thomas quickly removed his hand and hid his face in shame. Victor smiled, got up, and walked towards the door."Hey, you just gave him money to free himself. Is that a smart move?" Lucas asked Victor who scoffed."A hundred million dollars cannot get him out of the mess he's in. Thomas Knight will go to jail regardless. As for that company, I will rebrand it and offer employment to more people. So many have suffered because of that man. They deserve some closure," Victor added and then walked away.Lucas thought about Mariah and how she must be feeling at that moment. He was determined to speak with Victor again. As Victor walked out of the station, his phone rang."John?""Boss, come quickly! Reggie has been attacked!" John blurted out over the phone."What do you mean you sold our company?" Petra felt her legs weaken as her father broke the news of his deal to her. She gazed at the older man with eyes wide open, too shocked and too broken to say anything else."I had no choice. I'll rot in prison if I do not find a way to get myself out. You have to understand, Petra, what I did was for the both of us..." Thomas started but Petra jumped up from the seat she was sitting on in the interrogation room. She had demanded that the cops allow her to see her father, and they gave her two minutes."No! What you did was for you. You just left me with nothing, Father. No legacy. And do you really think that a hundred million dollars will get you out of here? It won't! No amount of money will keep you away from prison. How could you do this?" She nearly cried.Petra paced around while Thomas thought about it. Did he make a hasty decision? He kept thinking until it finally dawned on him that this was Victor's plan all along. Thomas's heart skip
"Mr Xavier, please wake up. We must leave now!" Palo said to Xavier who struggled to open his eyes. "What's going on, Palo?" Xavier asked while the old Butler quickly helped him out of the bed. His oxygen tank was well positioned by the side of the bed."It's Phil Bernard. He's here! We must get you out of here now," Palo said again and tried to move Xavier, but Xavier froze. Palo did not understand why he would stop."Sir?" Palo asked in confusion."I will not run from that man anymore. He has no power over me. He cannot control me any longer. I will go out there and I will meet with him," Xavier stayed but Palo's face was drawn into worry."Sir, I do not think that this is such a good idea. There is only one way by which Phil Bernard would find you. That means Reggie is dead. Please, sir, do not go out there," Palo begged."There is no other way to do this, Palo. Take me downstairs," he said to him, but Palo was hesitant. Xavier turned to him with stern eyes. "Now!" He said, and th
"Who is that man? Which company does he represent?"Victor Storms heard people whisper about him as he stepped into the large hall adorned with elaborate lighting. He gently arranged the black tusk he wore on the grand Turkish suit and took in the scene again. There they were; several millionaires and CEOs from all over the city, and they were there to attend the fundraiser party of Thomas Knight, the man with the biggest shipment and transportation company in all of Blaze city, and also the man that Victor had come to deal with that night."Boss, do you have eyes on him yet?" A voice said to Victor over the earpiece in his ear. Victor looked around and still found people stealing glances at him. He could not blame them, at twenty-nine, he had one of those faces that got featured in big magazines. But he was not there for their praises. He was there to terrorize the man who had joined forces with his Uncle Phil several years ago to murder his parents."Not yet, John. Keep the comms o
"What do you mean my nephew Alan is alive? Alan died nineteen years ago. We all know this," Phil yelled over the phone while he took in the cool evening wind, however, Thomas' call was disturbing."I'm telling you, Phil. I saw him tonight. He came to my fundraiser party and I'm pretty sure he was the one who caused the disturbance," Thomas was erratic. At that time, he had received help from a doctor who came to attend to him.Petra had found him lying on the ground unconscious, and quickly took him home to be attended to. "Thomas, have you been dealing again? You know you really need to stop taking those drugs," Phil said, but Thomas scoffed."Don't you dare put this on me. This has nothing to do with the drugs. I am telling you that Alan is alive. He's older now, but he's alive. He looks just like your brother Carl. We must do something about this. He said he will come for you next," Thomas was adamant. Phil sighed."Listen, Thomas. You are stressed. You have a big event coming up
"Mariah, I think that it is time for you to let this go now. You have been obsessing over this case for far too long and it's starting to get me bothered," Lucas Castillo said to the tall, elegant lady dressed in a black suit who was sitting across from him. Mariah scoffed while Lucas said the words, but she didn't come that far to quit."Lucas, you know how much this case means to me. I finally have a shot at doing something great for the victims. I have to press on. Knight Incorporated is into shady things. Dangerous things. They have been responsible for the trafficking of women and girls for a very long time. And it goes even deeper than Knight Incorporated. Tell me what I'm saying is wrong and I'll drop this," Mariah replied."It doesn't matter if you do not have proof. These are very powerful people, Mariah. You don't just take them on and expect them not to react. You failed to prove in court that Knight Incorporated was responsible for the death of the bodies we found close to
"Boss, I looked into her just as you instructed. You were right, she is the same Mariah Fillip you knew when you were a child," John said over the phone while Victor drove his Green Porsche in the streets of Blaze. He had a very important appointment that morning which would be the first thing he executes in his plan."I'm glad to see that she is alive and well. She's a lawyer now. But I saw her getting harassed earlier by some men over a debt. What happened while I was away?" Victor asked John."Well, boss, her mother was murdered. Mariah came back home from school to find out that her mother was missing. When a search was conducted, she was identified in another state dead on a farm. Mariah told the cops that Knight Incorporated had done it but she was not believed. Two months ago, Mariah took a case that sure Knight Incorporated to court, but she lost, and they made sure that no other firm ever hires her," John replied."I see. That means she is in this with us. I'll speak with her
“How dare he speak to me that way? Does he know who I am?’ Petra fumed as she paced around the room. Although it was a cool evening, she was terribly worked up. The incident with Victor back at Reggie's place has left her shaken. She had never imagined that a man would reject her as Victor did.“I guess I’ll just teach him a lesson then. No one speaks to me in that manner and gets away with it. I will teach you a lesson, Victor Storms!” she fumed again. Just as her anger went overboard, the door to the living room opened. Thomas stepped into the sitting room where Petra paced around and then watched her closely. As soon as Petra saw him, she stopped walking.“Father, you should not be walking around. You know very well what the doctor said,” she said with a sigh as she helped him get to a seat. Thomas groaned while she helped him and then sighed as soon as he sat down.“I am not a child, Petra. I think I can take care of myself,” he retorted and she scoffed while she sat down beside
"And I'm telling you that he's alive!" The words that Thomas spoke to him made Phil wonder if he had gotten it all wrong from the beginning. He rocked his head in the negative as he contemplated the possibility of his nephew surviving the assassination attempt. "No, it's not possible. I checked the urn myself. It was his DNA. How did he..." Phil muttered. He shut his eyes as a terrible headache pierced through his skull. He had been getting one of those for some time, and although he knew that he should get them checked out, he didn't want to go to a doctor."There is no way he survived," Phill said to himself again."There's no way who survived?" Bentley suddenly asked and Phil jerked in shock. He didn't even know that Bentley was there. "Did you see what happened to Thomas Knight today on TV? His company's darkest secret has been exposed. What's confusing is that Thomas claims that your cousin Alan is responsible for it. I told him it all bollocks but he seems to believe it," Phil
