Five minutes before the clock struck midnight.

"Everyone, get ready." The man, the leader of this team, opened three cases and ordered his members to grab their weapons and magazines.

"We don't know who or what is inside. You are authorized to shoot if you feel threatened."

Earlier, they had received intel and a briefing from Bachary. "One of their members is carrying an expensive painting, which is most likely stolen or embezzled property. Make sure to secure the painting or any other valuable items if you see them."

As per Darla's orders, the team Bachary hired for this raid was a private security force with years of experience in field operations. Aside from rescuing hostages, they were also trained to neutralize armed threats.

Dong-dong-dong!

At exactly midnight, the sound of bells echoed. Out of nowhere, a thin mist began to envelop the entire area. Combined with the dim lighting of the place, their visibility became severely impaired.

The security team was about to

The four security officers were now on the fourth floor, approaching Apartment 44 from two different directions. However, before the team leader could issue his next command, a scream echoed from below.“What’s going on?” Unable to see clearly due to the thickening fog, he contacted one of the snipers stationed in the vehicle.“My view is also obstructed by the fog. Requesting permission to step out?”“No, stay where you are.”The team leader was about to order two of his subordinates to investigate the commotion when he heard something unusual.“What’s that sound?” he muttered, lowering his ear closer to the ground. Through the dense fog, he caught a noise that resembled the sound of a wild animal devouring its prey.Moments later, something leaped out from the mist and landed directly in front of him.“W-what is that?” Reflexively, all the security officers aimed their weapons at the figure that had just emerged. As they took a closer look, their bodies began to tremble. “T-this is…

Eight years ago.“What is this?”Marc had just returned from fetching water at the mountain's peak when he noticed blood splattered across the ground. His instincts screamed danger as he set down the wooden bucket slung over his back and picked up a large branch from the pile nearby.Following the blood trail, he arrived at the chicken coop, its door ajar. His heart trembled with dread as he saw several headless chickens lying lifeless on the ground.Pushing the coop door wide open, Marc crept inside and saw a figure crouching on the ground, facing away from him.“Who’s there?” Marc tightened his grip on the branch in his hand. “Sir, what are you doing there?” he asked cautiously, stepping closer. The figure showed no sign of hearing him and continued its actions, still facing away from Marc.“Please, get out of here.” Marc's voice trembled as he stood less than a meter away from the figure. His body quivered, ready to swing the branch in his hands.“Sir…” Marc tried to issue one fina

“You...” Mya glared at Marc, shaking her still-numb hand in frustration. Yet, behind her rage, a look of sheer disbelief was evident in her eyes. When Marc managed to defend himself against her attack, the girl initially thought it was just a trick. But seeing his eyes return to normal left her utterly confused. "How did he break free from my spell?" she wondered.Mya had used the same spell to control the minds of hundreds of goblins, and it worked perfectly. But when it came to this seemingly ordinary young man, Marc, why did the spell fail?"But, of course, you won't get the chance to escape," Marc said coldly, pointing a finger at the goblins. "Because just like them…" His tone sharpened. "You must be punished too!"Having been curious about the mystery behind the chaos in Greencliff Village, Marc had finally pieced it together. “You’ve used these goblins to attack the villagers. Your actions are unforgivable!”“Hah! A child like you lecturing me?” Mya sneered, her tone dripping w

Two days earlier."I could have caught that thief by myself. But since you’re all here, let me show you how it’s done," said Jonas to the bodyguards behind him, tucking the pistol he had just cocked back into his waistband."Just watch—I’ll take this thief down with my bare hands!" Jonas quickened his pace as the edge of the forest came into view. He was convinced that Marc’s hint meant the thief was hiding in the woods. And the fact that Marc had returned safely suggested the thief was likely just an amateur.“They’re here at the perfect time,” Jonas thought, glancing back at the still-tense bodyguards. “I’ll amaze them with what I can do,” he mused, a broad, self-satisfied smile spreading across his face. Before becoming the Brown family’s butler, Jonas had been a martial artist who had earned a black belt. “One person? I could take on ten all by myself.” His eyes gleamed with confidence. If he could impress these bodyguards, it would be a great way to show off in front of the mayor

Speak clearly, what’s happening?” Bachary shouted into his phone, his face tense as he listened to the panicked voice on the other end.“Th-they… they’re not human, sir.” A soldier’s weak voice came through, mixed with screams and gunfire in the background.“What do you mean? Explain yourself!” But before Bachary could get more information, the call was abruptly cut off. The last thing he heard was the sound of something heavy stomping on the soldier’s phone.“Bachary, what’s going on?” Darla, who had just stepped out of the armory wearing a black uniform and a bulletproof vest, asked with a frown, her face full of questions. “Has something happened to them?”“It seems the Alpha team has failed, my lady.” Bachary let out a long sigh, trying to steady his emotions. Although he didn’t have a clear picture of what had happened to the team, he was certain they were in serious trouble.“Then what are we waiting for? Send in the Bra

Click!"You've killed my soldiers and innocent people, yet you can still act so nonchalant," Darla's voice seethed with anger as she disengaged the safety on her weapon, pointing it at the back of Marc’s head. Behind the gas mask covering her face, Darla's expression burned with rage. "Daring to endanger innocent lives—you all deserve to die!""My lady…" Bachary, her butler, hesitated, stepping forward to stop her. He wanted to remind her that, no matter how grave their crimes were, these people deserved a trial. An immediate execution would violate the law. However, before Bachary could finish, Darla raised her hand, signaling him to halt."You still have the nerve to act arrogant, ignoring our presence," she continued, her steps slow and deliberate as she moved toward Marc, finger poised on the trigger. Marc’s back remained turned to Darla and her team, a gesture she read as blatant disrespect. "Let’s see if your arrogance can save your head from my bullet.""Lady Darla, please allo

“What about the healer?” Darla mumbled, her brow furrowed, her expression laced with panic. Her voice was so soft it was almost inaudible. She was reminded that the reason she joined the Bravo team on this mission was to ensure the healer's safety—something her anger toward Marc had momentarily made her forget.“Yes, I must find the healer,” she thought to herself. She knew there was no one better to ask about the healer's whereabouts than Marc. Yet, she refused to approach him. Her hatred for the young man ran far deeper than she was willing to admit.Just as Darla was about to take another step, her phone rang.“Hello, Mom…”“Darla, I have such wonderful news! A master healer from Eastcliff has just arrived at our estate!”“Mom, I’ll be home immediately.”As she ended the call, Darla’s previously dim eyes lit up with excitement. The thick fog of gloom that had clouded her face disappeared, replaced by a wide smile. “A master healer from Eastcliff? He must be able to cure my father!”

“Mr. Belmont, are you sure about your plan?” Newell couldn’t hide the surprise on his face when Marc mentioned that he wanted to make massive improvements to the village of Greencliff.“Of course, Mr. Brown.” Unlike the expression on the mayor’s face, Marc nodded slowly and flashed a wide smile. “I want to rebuild this village.”Marc thought it would be wonderful if this village could come back to life, just like it was ten years ago before the goblins caused chaos.“But, Mr. Belmont…” Newell took a deep breath before continuing. Since there was no one else in the lobby at the moment, he felt he could express his thoughts to Marc more openly. “The property prices in Greencliff have dropped drastically in recent years, but rebuilding the entire village… that would cost a lot of money.”Rebuilding Greencliff would consume a significant portion of the city's budget. And seeing the state of the city, Newell wasn’t sure it would be profitable from an investment standpoint. “Even if we spen

Soon, he was tearing through a small forest that separated Cammont City from Greencliff Village.Marc kept his foot firmly on the gas—until his nose, sharp and hyper-sensitive, caught a whiff of something foul ahead. The smell was familiar.Goblin stench."They’re back?"His mind flashed to something he'd read back

They hauled them toward the center of the courtyard and roughly tied each woman to a towering wooden post."You filthy beasts! Let me go!" Sasha cried, thrashing violently. It didn’t matter. Against the goblins' brutal strength, her struggles were like the flailing of a child."Marc will find you! When he does, he’ll kill every last one of you!"
