The front courtyard of the Quentin manor’s armory.

“Hello? Speak clearly, what’s happening?” Bachary shouted into his phone, his face tense as he listened to the panicked voice on the other end.

“Th-they… they’re not human, sir.” A soldier’s weak voice came through, mixed with screams and gunfire in the background.

“What do you mean? Explain yourself!” But before Bachary could get more information, the call was abruptly cut off. The last thing he heard was the sound of something heavy stomping on the soldier’s phone.

“Bachary, what’s going on?” Darla, who had just stepped out of the armory wearing a black uniform and a bulletproof vest, asked with a frown, her face full of questions. “Has something happened to them?”

“It seems the Alpha team has failed, my lady.” Bachary let out a long sigh, trying to steady his emotions. Although he didn’t have a clear picture of what had happened to the team, he was certain they were in serious trouble.

“Then what are we waiting for? Send in the Bra

Click!"You've killed my soldiers and innocent people, yet you can still act so nonchalant," Darla's voice seethed with anger as she disengaged the safety on her weapon, pointing it at the back of Marc’s head. Behind the gas mask covering her face, Darla's expression burned with rage. "Daring to endanger innocent lives—you all deserve to die!""My lady…" Bachary, her butler, hesitated, stepping forward to stop her. He wanted to remind her that, no matter how grave their crimes were, these people deserved a trial. An immediate execution would violate the law. However, before Bachary could finish, Darla raised her hand, signaling him to halt."You still have the nerve to act arrogant, ignoring our presence," she continued, her steps slow and deliberate as she moved toward Marc, finger poised on the trigger. Marc’s back remained turned to Darla and her team, a gesture she read as blatant disrespect. "Let’s see if your arrogance can save your head from my bullet.""Lady Darla, please allo

“What about the healer?” Darla mumbled, her brow furrowed, her expression laced with panic. Her voice was so soft it was almost inaudible. She was reminded that the reason she joined the Bravo team on this mission was to ensure the healer's safety—something her anger toward Marc had momentarily made her forget.“Yes, I must find the healer,” she thought to herself. She knew there was no one better to ask about the healer's whereabouts than Marc. Yet, she refused to approach him. Her hatred for the young man ran far deeper than she was willing to admit.Just as Darla was about to take another step, her phone rang.“Hello, Mom…”“Darla, I have such wonderful news! A master healer from Eastcliff has just arrived at our estate!”“Mom, I’ll be home immediately.”As she ended the call, Darla’s previously dim eyes lit up with excitement. The thick fog of gloom that had clouded her face disappeared, replaced by a wide smile. “A master healer from Eastcliff? He must be able to cure my father!”

“Mr. Belmont, are you sure about your plan?” Newell couldn’t hide the surprise on his face when Marc mentioned that he wanted to make massive improvements to the village of Greencliff.“Of course, Mr. Brown.” Unlike the expression on the mayor’s face, Marc nodded slowly and flashed a wide smile. “I want to rebuild this village.”Marc thought it would be wonderful if this village could come back to life, just like it was ten years ago before the goblins caused chaos.“But, Mr. Belmont…” Newell took a deep breath before continuing. Since there was no one else in the lobby at the moment, he felt he could express his thoughts to Marc more openly. “The property prices in Greencliff have dropped drastically in recent years, but rebuilding the entire village… that would cost a lot of money.”Rebuilding Greencliff would consume a significant portion of the city's budget. And seeing the state of the city, Newell wasn’t sure it would be profitable from an investment standpoint. “Even if we spen

One hour earlier.“Is this true, what I just heard?” Keith’s face lit up with a radiant smile, the joy clear in his eyes as he heard that the master healer would be coming to his house today as scheduled. “This feels like a dream come true!”“This is such a great blessing that Master Tilcott is willing to come to our place,” Wilma, who had overheard her husband's conversation on the phone, couldn’t hide her happiness either. “Our daughter will be healed, Keith,” she said, hugging her husband tightly.Although the Felix family was no ordinary family in Cammont, Keith still realized that they couldn't compare to the likes of the Richmonds or the Quentins. While those who made appointments with Helma came from not just this town but from several important figures in the province and even the royal capital, it was clear that Helma’s services were sought by those in power.Aware of his own status, Keith had never considered asking Helma for help. However, seeing his daughter’s condition co

"Come in, please." Keith forced a smile onto his face as he welcomed Marc into his house. Despite this, his mind was seething with anger. "Damn it! This brat is such a master con artist!"Just yesterday, Keith hadn’t cared much when the three wives of the shop owners said that Marc was a skilled con man. To him, no con artist or criminal could do anything in front of him. They would all kneel before him soon enough. But today, he had to suppress his anger even further when he saw Marc coming to his house. To Keith, it seemed like the young man was challenging him. And what enraged him even more, this damn brat didn’t come alone but brought a powerful figure with him. "If it weren’t for Mr. Robins being here, I would’ve beaten this bastard into the ground!""After deceiving Mr. Wellington and Mr. Skiyd, now he’s managed to con a butler from the Quentin family," Keith thought again, glaring at Marc out of the corner of his eye with anger and disgust that he tried to hide. “Don’t worry, my dear,” Wilma thought to herself, unable to hide the sadness etched across her face. She knew how much singing had been her daughter’s dream since childhood, and she couldn’t bear to let her lose that dream. “Master Tilcott will surely heal you soon.”As her heart filled with thoughts of hope and prayer, Marc’s voice, though soft, cut through her thoughts like an unwelcome guest. “Have you ever eaten a giant rambutan before?”“About this big.” Locking eyes with Rose, Marc raised his hand as though holding a spherical object slightly larger than a tennis ball. “Yeah, about the size of a soccer ball… Have you ever tried one?”While Rose furrowed her brows in confusion, Wilma could no longer suppress her anger. “You! What nonsense are you spouting?” Her tear-stained eyes widened menacingly, filled with fury.Wilma had never shown this side of herself in front of her daughter, but Marc’s absurd behavior pushed her over the edge. “Get out of here before I truly lose my pati

“M-Mom...”Keith’s fist hung in the air as his ears caught that voice again—the voice he had longed to hear for the past year. “Sweetheart...” Turning around, Keith saw Rose smiling at him. “D-Dad...”“You... you...” Rose struggled to form her words, her gaze fixed on Marc as he approached her.“Don’t try to speak just yet. You need plenty of rest.” Marc shook his head gently, smiling at the girl.“Since you said you consumed a giant rambutan, as I suspected, let me explain a little about this fruit,” Marc continued. Unlike ordinary rambutans, which are usually the size of a ping-pong ball, giant rambutans are much larger and exceptionally delicious—the most flavorful of all rambutan varieties. Despite their size, the fruit’s flesh is tender, with an unusually small seed.“Among all rambutan types, this one might seem the most tempting. But no one should eat it.” Marc’s tone turned serious, fully aware of the hidden dangers inside the fruit.Beneath the succulent flesh of the giant ra

A woman in her forties, dressed in a formal work uniform, sneered as she fanned herself with a folding fan."I can’t understand how this inn even hired someone as slow as this." A girl in her twenties standing beside her shot a look of disgust, echoing the same complaint. "Mom, why do we even have to stay in this village? Shouldn’t we just go back home?"Not far ahead of them, Marc—wearing a crisp white shirt and black trousers that made him look not only handsome but also professional—was struggling to carry three oversized suitcases while leading the way to their requested room on the fourth floor. Yet, he maintained a polite smile. "We’ll be there soon, ma’am."Three days ago, at Marc’s request, the mayor had promptly contacted several parties, both governmental and private, to expedite the rebuilding of the village. Most visitors came only for initial surveys before leaving. But today, these two w

I don’t know how to make it right," Leah rasped, her voice thick with unshed tears. "But I really am sorry."She blinked rapidly, trying to keep herself from falling apart right there in front of them. She didn’t want them thinking she

The coldness in their eyes hit her like a slap."You happy now? Huh?" Tedd's voice was icy as he glared at her. "Happy that the missi

"Well, looks like you’re better than I thought, Mya."Leah, the bank officer inside the second armored van, muttered to herself as she watched the line of police cars and the Benz drive off, leaving her behind.Last night, before Mya set off, she had whispered something in Leah’s ear."Give me the phone number of one of the officers on duty. Make sure it’s someone with a rank. Then just watch—I’ll make everything a whole lot easier for you.""Alright."Leah nodded. It wasn’t hard for her. As a bodyguard, she had plenty of connections among officers and military personnel across Cammont Province. All she had to do was pick someone she thought would be the easiest to sway. After scrolling through her contacts for a moment, she handed Mya a number. And just before the first armored van left the Cammont Bank earlier, Mya had called that number—and she got through."Listen to me carefully..."Mya’s voice poured through the line, firm and commanding."If anyone stops you and asks about me—a

"Listen carefully. Just move the money. Leave the documents and everything else alone."A strange whisper echoed louder and louder inside the two officers’ heads. He flicked on the hazard lights, signaling the three cars behind them to stop, too.The convoy obediently pulled over. But the bank manager from Walenstein wasted no time jumping out of his sleek Benz, his face tight with suspicion."What's going on? Why the sudden stop? Why are you halting us like this?"According to the plan, they were supposed to drive straight to the capital without stopping. No vehicle swaps, no changes. The manager's unease grew as he eyed the situation."Sir, apologies," one of the officers said stiffly, pointing at the armored van ahead. "But there's been a change of plans. After reading them, she grabbed her handbag and headed straight to the restaurant's restroom.Zrrrip! She yanked open the zipper on her bag and pulled out a light blue uniform—standard issue for employees of the Walenstein Bank. Next came a reddish-brown wig and a realistic-looking skin mask.First, Leah changed into the uniform, stuffing her formal outfit into the bag. She slipped on the wig, carefully tucking away her natural black hair underneath. Finally, with quick, practiced movements, she pressed the mask over her face. The transformation was seamless—like she’d done it a hundred times before. In less than five minutes, Leah’s appearance was completely different. She topped off the look with a simple cap, then tucked a pistol into the waistband of her skirt. When she stepped out of the restroom five minutes later, anyone would’ve sworn she

Mya froze for a moment, stunned by Leah’s words. They made sense—painfully so.It was something that had never even crossed her mind before. With Grizelda's insane power, taking down someone like Marc should’ve been child’s play, right?“But...”Mya's brow furrowed deeply as she sank into thought.Still, for the first time in a while, the sadness etched into her face seemed to lift—just a little.“We know Marc isn’t at the inn,” she said slowly. The two women had double-checked—Marc wasn’t anywhere in Greencliff. And if they assumed he knew about the goblins’ arrival... well, that could only mean one thing.“With that many goblins showing up, if he really was planning to run, there’s no way he’d even think about going back to the inn. Not anytime soon, anyway.”Leah jumped in without missing a beat.“Which is exactly why it’s our job to make sure Grizelda hunts him down, no matter where he’s hiding!”Her eyes widened, a grin stretching across her face, practically vibrating with excit
