"Come in, please." Keith forced a smile onto his face as he welcomed Marc into his house. Despite this, his mind was seething with anger. "Damn it! This brat is such a master con artist!"

Just yesterday, Keith hadn’t cared much when the three wives of the shop owners said that Marc was a skilled con man. To him, no con artist or criminal could do anything in front of him. They would all kneel before him soon enough.

But today, he had to suppress his anger even further when he saw Marc coming to his house. To Keith, it seemed like the young man was challenging him. And what enraged him even more, this damn brat didn’t come alone but brought a powerful figure with him. "If it weren’t for Mr. Robins being here, I would’ve beaten this bastard into the ground!"

"After deceiving Mr. Wellington and Mr. Skiyd, now he’s managed to con a butler from the Quentin family," Keith thought again, glaring at Marc out of the corner of his eye with anger and disgust that he tried to hide. "I can't let m

“Don’t worry, my dear,” Wilma thought to herself, unable to hide the sadness etched across her face. She knew how much singing had been her daughter’s dream since childhood, and she couldn’t bear to let her lose that dream. “Master Tilcott will surely heal you soon.”As her heart filled with thoughts of hope and prayer, Marc’s voice, though soft, cut through her thoughts like an unwelcome guest. “Have you ever eaten a giant rambutan before?”“About this big.” Locking eyes with Rose, Marc raised his hand as though holding a spherical object slightly larger than a tennis ball. “Yeah, about the size of a soccer ball… Have you ever tried one?”While Rose furrowed her brows in confusion, Wilma could no longer suppress her anger. “You! What nonsense are you spouting?” Her tear-stained eyes widened menacingly, filled with fury.Wilma had never shown this side of herself in front of her daughter, but Marc’s absurd behavior pushed her over the edge. “Get out of here before I truly lose my pati

“M-Mom...”Keith’s fist hung in the air as his ears caught that voice again—the voice he had longed to hear for the past year. “Sweetheart...” Turning around, Keith saw Rose smiling at him. “D-Dad...”“You... you...” Rose struggled to form her words, her gaze fixed on Marc as he approached her.“Don’t try to speak just yet. You need plenty of rest.” Marc shook his head gently, smiling at the girl.“Since you said you consumed a giant rambutan, as I suspected, let me explain a little about this fruit,” Marc continued. Unlike ordinary rambutans, which are usually the size of a ping-pong ball, giant rambutans are much larger and exceptionally delicious—the most flavorful of all rambutan varieties. Despite their size, the fruit’s flesh is tender, with an unusually small seed.“Among all rambutan types, this one might seem the most tempting. But no one should eat it.” Marc’s tone turned serious, fully aware of the hidden dangers inside the fruit.Beneath the succulent flesh of the giant ra

"Hey, hurry up! If you move this slowly, how can you help your boss make any money?" A woman in her forties, dressed in a formal work uniform, sneered as she fanned herself with a folding fan."I can’t understand how this inn even hired someone as slow as this." A girl in her twenties standing beside her shot a look of disgust, echoing the same complaint. "Mom, why do we even have to stay in this village? Shouldn’t we just go back home?"Not far ahead of them, Marc—wearing a crisp white shirt and black trousers that made him look not only handsome but also professional—was struggling to carry three oversized suitcases while leading the way to their requested room on the fourth floor. Yet, he maintained a polite smile. "We’ll be there soon, ma’am."Three days ago, at Marc’s request, the mayor had promptly contacted several parties, both governmental and private, to expedite the rebuilding of the village. Most visitors came only for initial surveys before leaving. But today, these two w

Sigh!Taking a deep breath, Bachary bowed deeply to Marc once again. “From now on, I’m ready to do whatever you command.”Marc merely smiled without saying a word. After he closed the door, the Bentayga drove off shortly after.“Mr. Belmont, where are we headed today?” Though Bachary’s face appeared calmer, his heart still harbored some worry that Marc hadn’t fully forgiven him.“Pinewood District. This looks like a mountainous area, doesn’t it?” Marc showed the name on his old phone to the butler.“You’re right. It’s about two hours from here.” Noticing from the corner of his eye that Marc didn’t seem to take his earlier threat to heart, a sense of relief and calm began to fill the butler’s chest. “I swear I’ll never do anything foolish like that again,” he vowed silently. In truth, what Bachary did today went against his duties as a butler. He was tasked with guarding Darla twenty-four hours a day unless the young lady permitted him to leave. For the past three days, Darla had order

The scream was so loud it echoed throughout the entire complex. Following the sound, Bachary unintentionally stumbled upon Marc’s location.“Mr. Belmont, what’s going on?” asked the butler, his face slightly panicked.“Nothing serious.” Shaking his head, Marc’s face remained calm, as if unconcerned about the old man’s cries of pain. “I’m just giving him a special treatment. He’ll be fine in a moment.”Bachary let out a sigh of relief upon hearing the explanation. However, when his gaze fell on the old man’s face, his expression abruptly changed. Shock was now clearly etched on his features. “Oh my! Are you…?”Before Bachary could utter another word, the old man, still writhing in pain, shook his head—a silent signal for the butler to stay quiet.“My apologies,” said Bachary, bowing his head.“You insolent brat, Marc! Are you trying to kill me?” The old man shot an annoyed glare at Marc after the young man finally lifted his index finger from the back of his neck, about a minute later.

"Mom, are you sure this man can be trusted?" Without taking her eyes off a chubby man dressed in a traditional all-black robe, Darla’s brows furrowed deeply. "He doesn’t look convincing at all."Ahead of her, in the central hall of the Quentin manor, the chubby man sat at the long table opposite Thomas. Various dishes, ranging from lamb to free-range chicken, were spread across the table."My lord, this food is absolutely delicious," he said, his mouth full as he chewed noisily and occasionally spoke to the manor’s owner in front of him. "If you keep eating like this every day, you'll recover in no time."Thomas, however, did not eat a single bite. Opposite the chubby man, he sat stiffly, his empty gaze fixed ahead. He did not move a single muscle, nor did he blink, even though his eyes remained wide open. His ghostly pale face and chapped lips deepened the pity of anyone who saw him.Since waking from a coma three days ago, the only thing the Baron had done was open his eyes. Forget

As everyone remained stunned by the shocking state of the baron, a loud voice broke through their thoughts, adding to their confusion. "Who is he?"Their curiosity was soon answered when a young man in a blue t-shirt stood beside Thomas and casually placed his hand on the baron’s shoulder."Marc! What is he doing here?" Darla’s face hardened as her gaze locked onto the young man. "Who brought this fraud here?" She was about to act immediately when she noticed the butler arriving by Marc’s side shortly after."Bachary?” She hissed, her hands clenched in frustration. The question was clearly answered, it was the butler who had brought the young man to the manor. “What have you done?""Young man, I don’t care who you are or what your purpose is in coming to this manor. But if you have even a shred of respect left, remove your hand from His Lordship’s shoulder right now!" Joshua’s tone was stern, though his words remained polite despite his clear frustration at Marc’s audacity."Mr. Carbe

“You insolent fool! You don’t deserve a shred of pity! Don’t call me Pedro if I don’t smash your face!” Swinging his palm toward Marc’s face, the plump man’s eyes burned with a mixture of fury and murderous intent.Unlike Annette and everyone else, who refrained from rash actions due to their adherence to noble etiquette, Pedro was under no obligation to follow any rules when it came to teaching this insolent youth a lesson. However, before his palm could land on Marc’s cheek, a firm grip stopped his wrist mid-air.“A pig like you wants to hit me? How naive! I could even beat you with one hand!” Marc’s lips curled into a mocking smirk, his expression fierce and intimidating.“You insolent brat!” Pedro bellowed, his frustration boiling over. “I’ll kill you! I swear I’ll kill you!”This time, the obese man used his other hand to strike Marc. But, just like before, Marc effortlessly caught it, his grip still holding Pedro’s first hand.“You scoundrel! Let go of my hands!” Pedro yelled, u

A loud explosion reverberated through the open building as the girl’s fingertips struck Marc’s chest. Instinctively pulling herself back a few steps, the girl’s eyes widened in shock.“Damn!” she cursed internally. “How is he still standing after my attack?”As a level-12 cultivator, the girl could clearly see that Marc’s internal energy was only at level 10. Although it was just a two-level difference, the gap was substantial. Even a level-11 cultivator wouldn’t dare let her attack land, or their chest would have been blown open on the spot. Yet, Marc not only withstood the attack, but his body felt as solid as a boulder.“What kind of trick is he using?” she wondered, still reeling from the shock. At the same time, she kept shaking her hand, which now tingled as though it had been struck by high-voltage electricity. Moreover, seeing no reaction on Marc’s face made the girl furrow her brows. “Strange! “Your Reverence, what do you mean by this? Promising a food package without including any food inside? Can such a thing even be called a deal?”Although Marc’s tone sounded polite, his sharp gaze betrayed his irritation. He didn’t mind if this old man underestimated or even belittled him. But how could he let anyone toy with him? This old man was no exception! As if seeing a completely different person, Tenzin merely waved his hand dismissively without saying a word.“Let me clarify this for you. This ring is not an ordinary item that can be bought with money. Even the box that holds it is of extraordinary quality. So if I don’t give you the ring but only the box, it’s more than enough. There’s nothing wrong with what I’ve said.”“Your Reverence, you…” Clearly, the old man before him was playing games. And Marc had more than enough reasons to act. Yet, as he recalled what he had seen before arriving here, he nodded, as if realizing something.Instead of losing his temper, Marc wore a bi

One hour earlier."Sir, is this really the path to the White Lotus Monastery?" Marc asked an old farmer resting at the edge of his field. The narrow trail ahead was not only steep but also littered with large stones. It was no surprise that no GPS service had mapped the area this far. However, this was hardly an issue for Marc. With the zhenqi coursing through his body, even if he had to walk ten times farther than the usual route, he wouldn’t feel the slightest fatigue."Yes, you’re correct." The old man, shirtless and drenched in sweat, nodded his head. Hearing Marc’s question, his expression suddenly turned serious. "Young man, where are you from? Did your parents send you to go up there?""Well..." Before Marc could finish his sentence, the old man interrupted. "Please listen to me—for your own safety, you should turn back and never set foot in that monastery.""What do you mean?" Marc furrowed his brows."Sit down, and I’ll explain everything to you." Three hours later, in the Asheville district, a cool mountainous area in the southern region of Cammont.“Honestly, I feel reluctant to part with this item.” A ninety-year-old monk took a small box out of his robe pocket and placed it on the small table in front of him. About the size of a ring box, it was covered in purple velvet. “But since I promised Master Tilcott, I must keep my word.”Marc stared at the box briefly. “It looks exactly like mine,” he thought. “Could there really be many relics like this scattered throughout the kingdom?” Even so, he didn’t linger on it and reached out to take the box.“Your Reverence, I greatly appreciate your kindness.” Marc bowed his head slightly to show respect. “I will keep this box safe and deliver it to Master Tilcott.”But before Marc could take the box, the abbot placed his palm firmly on it.“Mr. Belmont, I never said you could take it immediately.”“What do you mean?” Marc frowned.“Before this box leaves the monastery, I must first see

"BLARE-BLARE!"The blaring sound of a trumpet filled the room as Marc lazily opened his eyes, stretching one arm toward the small table beside his bed. "Who’s calling this early?" he muttered, pressing the "Answer" button with mild irritation."Good morning, Master Tilcott. May happiness always be with you." The raspy, deep voice of an old man on the other end sounded unusually cheerful, though it didn’t ease the annoyance in Marc’s chest. "Do you still remember me?"Before Marc could respond and explain that he wasn’t Helma, the old man continued. "This is Tenzin of the White Lotus Monastery. I couldn’t wait to share some wonderful news with you."Four months ago, Helma had visited the largest monastery in Cammont after being summoned by one of the monks, who had requested the master healer's help to treat their abbot, who had suddenly become paralyzed."Don’t worry. It’s just a case of severe exhaustion. With the medicine I’ve provided, Abbot Tenzin will recover fully in four months

"Mrs. Griffin, are you alright?" Marc hurried toward Leonie, who was sitting at the lobby entrance with Sasha. Not only did their faces look utterly shocked, but their appearances were also in complete disarray. Their hair stood on end like they had just been electrocuted, and their makeup was smudged beyond recognition. If the situation were less dire, Marc might have laughed at how they resembled people who had been abandoned and left to go mad for years."Marc... they're not human, are they?" With eyes wide in shock, Leonie asked Marc while glancing at the goblin corpses scattered across the floor."Hmmm..." Marc nodded. "They're goblins—man-eating creatures." Truthfully, Marc didn’t want to explain further. But the fact that Leonie had asked such a question showed she had already witnessed too much. "But you don’t need to worry; I’ve taken care of all of them.""Mrs. Griffin, Sasha, stay inside while I bury the goblin corpses. I need to do this quickly since their bodies are highl

"Hey, you pale and ugly creature, are you going to keep laughing like that until you die?" A light, mocking voice rang in Vasile's ears as the vampire closed his eyes, overwhelmed by the joy surging through him.How could he not be delighted? Vasile had already envisioned the grand rewards and high position he might receive from Duke Dragusin once he completed this task. However, the mocking voice managed to irritate him despite his jubilation."Huh, until I die, you say? How dare you say such a thing when you're the one about to die soon!" Opening his eyes, Vasile frowned as he saw no one in front of him. He scanned the area, searching for Marc, but found nothing."What are you looking for?" Marc's voice echoed again, not far ahead. "How is it that you can’t see properly?"Frustrated by Marc's taunts, Vasile could no longer suppress his anger. "Are all humans as weak and cowardly as you? Stop playing games and face me!"No response came for ten seconds until a light breath tickled hi

"Aaaargh!"On the fourth floor, Leonie immediately pulled her daughter’s face away from the window as the shockwave from the collision of two fists in the courtyard spread in all directions, its impact far greater than before. The lobby windows and several room windows in the inn shattered, including the one in the room occupied by the two women."Our Father in Heaven, may You show Your power and protect us." Holding her daughter tightly, Leonie stepped away from the window, her lips moving in constant prayer. What was happening tonight was far more terrifying than anything they had ever experienced in their lives. "Grant us the strength to endure all of this."The shockwave didn’t just shatter the windows; it also created small cracks in the walls. A sedan parked in the courtyard was pushed several meters, all its windows shattered.Judging by the scale of the destruction, Marc’s punch should have been enough to knock Vasile back and bring him down. Yet, a few seconds later, the youn

From the fourth-floor window, Leonie peeked through the slightly parted curtains, gazing at the courtyard below."Mom, isn’t that dangerous?" Sasha hesitated, reluctant to sit beside her mother. Although she dared not question Marc's words, she couldn’t hide her curiosity about who the young man was about to face."Marc only told us to lock the door. What’s wrong with taking a peek? Come here, sit with me," Leonie urged.Looking down at Marc, who stood alone in the courtyard, there was no sign of fear on the women’s faces. But that didn’t last long."Oh my God! Oh my God! Who are they?" Reflexively clinging to each other, Leonie and Sasha's expressions instantly turned tense."Did you see their faces?" Leonie whispered, her eyes fixed on Vasile and the goblins standing behind him. "How can there be humans that pale?"These two women weren’t exactly fans of horror movies, though they occas
