Malek regarded the man in front of him and he gritted his jaw grimly, the man still refused to answer him since he entered.

He, along with his minions, just stared at him like he was a show.

“You must think that you are still it. Even when you are near death, you are still putting on airs and acting mighty in front of everyone!”

The Young Lord continued to stare at him blankly, his shoulder was squared with his back straight, his stance screamed nobility and authority as he stared straight into Malek’s eyes, but still he didn't talk.

The dirty silver and black jacket and trousers he wore didn't undermine his elegance, it contrasted to the calm look that made his composition shine through.

“Once this sword is buried deep in your head, then maybe you would learn to use your mouth to beg for your life.”

He finally scoffed. “You aren't among the list of people I would beg if I have any intention of asking to be spared,” his voice was firm but all Malek heard was the arrogance that resonated off it.

Malek was the second prince of the whole empire, there were eight cities bowing down to his father, his brother was the crown prince and he was obviously at the top of the world.

It was no surprise that it irked him to see that the young Lord still behave like a big shot, so he attacked the man, both Oliver and Rex also tried to protect their Lord but were stopped by the swordsmen that followed Malek to the Mansion.

The sound of sword clashing filled the tense air and its glare lightened the night as everyone tried to stop the others. Rex and Oliver slain a lot of men and tried to help their master but more men kept coming their way and blocking them, forcing them to fight them instead.

Whilst the fight between the guards and Swordsmen was good, the fight between the Young Lord and Malek could only be deemed as exceptional.

Both of them moved in a big blur, their sword clashing as they attack their opponent and defended themselves, ethereal light which was the proof of their powers radiating of it, their footwork was extremely fast and their strength was marvelous, even though the Young Lord had been injured before Malek came, he still managed to keep up with Malek and even managed to slashed his stomach with his sword which made Malek jump back and clutch his stomach as blood seeped through his clothes and stained his fingers.

He knew that he would nurse the wound for a long time, he always did– especially the ones that the Young Lord gave.

He raised his head and glared at his opponent with intense hatred, hating to bits that even though the man was injured and he was able to deal him with a few blows, he was still no match for him.

The two guards whose body was stained with blood moved back to stand behind their master and the other Swordsmen also retreated to stand with Malek, waiting for his order to charge again, more men have joined the dead men decorating the floor around them and blood flowed like water, staining the immaculate neat floor of the mansion.

“No worries Malek, there's no need for you to be angry that you can't beat him even when he is half dead,” Another voice said from the door yet again, and they turned to see another Prince standing at the door.

The First Prince of Visteria and the Young Lord's ex-best friend, Prince Kadel, the favorite son of the tyrant King Drakell, Kadel was even crazier than his father.

“After all, he used to be a General and had fought tons of crazy psychos. Roughly estimating, I am the only person who can match him,” Prince Kadel advanced towards them, he stopped to stand beside Malek who stared at him.

“Match while he's injured right? You stand no chance in his everyday life.” Oliver snapped at him but Kadel simply ignored him.

“Brother.” He greeted and Kadel patted his soldier.

“You tried though, you managed to add to his injury,” he complimented as his eyes ran over the other man standing opposite them. “But it's time to die, don't you think so too, Young General Lord? Or should I call you Young Lord, seeing as you have discarded your saber and switched to enchanted swords?”

He didn't give him a chance to reply before he attacked him.

“Give up, and I won't kill your stupid minions!” Kadel said and his opponent faltered a bit and glanced at his guards who were fighting off other men before he quickly paid attention back to Kadel and blocked off his sword.

“Don't listen to him! Whether we surrender or not, they are still going to kill us,” Rex voice sounded from the opposite side

“Why bother to go down without fighting, who knows, maybe killing these assholes off might lift the misery we felt about Arcane Master and his Mistress's death.” Oliver added.

“You taught them how to speak?” Kadel scoffed and attacked fiercer and harder.

After many hours of exchanging moves, they were tired, both Oliver and Rex were brought down at the same time, but neither of them were dead, they were just not able to pick their swords anymore. Yet, Kadel and the Young Lord were still at it, everyone but the ones holding down both guards retreated to Malek's side to watch the once in a lifetime fight between two masters of magical sword fighting, even though the situation wasn't favourable it was still enlightening for the men.

Kadel dealt blows after blows to his opponent and the man stumbled from here to there as he was stabbed and slashed, but Kadel didn't make it deep enough to kill him, just enough to make him resign.

But the Young Lord was a stubborn man and refused to do that, matters wouldn't have escalated to this extent if he wasn't so stubborn, he wasn't about to give up the stubbornness now— it was too late for that.

Kadel was getting frustrated too, so he was furious and blindly attacked. He made repetitive major moves that would end his opponent’s life but his moves were blocked, so he continued. What he didn't expect was that the last move wouldn't be blocked and his sword ended up buried in the other man’s heart.

His eyes widened in shock, as well as that of the other two guards.

“What?!” Prince Kadel yelled, while everyone else remained frozen. They hadn’t expected that move at all, if anything, they thought that the prideful Arcane Heir would rather kill himself than die under the enemy’s blade.

The Young Lord groaned, as blood seeped through the space in his chest.

“You want death? Then I would gladly give you, it doesn’t matter if you are dead or alive, you would still bow down to my father.” Prince Kadel snapped, before he moved closer and pushed his sword deeper into him.

“Young Lord!” If Rex had more energy, maybe he would have been able to yell but with life slowly seeping away from him, he could only muster a whisper.

“I am sorry, Rex, Oliver, I hope that you would find it in yourself to forgive me,” The Young Lord apologized.

“No need to be sorry, even at our death, we would not bow down to these awful people!” Oliver said before he took his sword with the last strength left in his body and directed his blade at himself, falling down on his back at the same time Rex did. They were best friends and their minds were the same, even at their last minutes.

The Young Lord stared at them emotionlessly, before he blinked once, twice, his head dropped and his breath ceased—he had died while standing!

I think he must be considering it now too.”“You mean our father?” He asked and Caden nodded. “Why would a father listen to such a request?”“They are at the study,” A maid said to them, and he didn't miss the contempt in his eyes when she regarded them.Caden replied as he led the way. “He is Lord Wilder, but he isn’t our real father, he’s our father’s friend that our mother married after she had us, our father died before you were born and mother died ten years ago due to a sickness. We talked and fought about this a lot, and you have told me time without number that the thought of doing it disgust you.”“Loser,” Elaris scoffed.“What?”“I was just being stubborn, I figured out that it was about time that I man up and start doing well.” He shrugged. They stopped in front of the apartment that belongs to just both of them in the mansion. It was built separately and at the back of the house, as if to shut both brothers out of the people’s view.“It is about time you don’t have to constantly worry that you would end up on the streets because of my antics, and we should move ou

He knew that he was being like this because of the over protectiveness he felt towards his brother and the need to take care of him but he was really giving him a headache.“Don’t you understand the gravity of this situation?” Caden stood up and paced the room. “You have to go to the Academy in two days, there’s no way you would be able to do it without seeing anything, you are already bad at combat but doing it with no eyes? Even I don’t dare to do that!”“You are exaggerating. I would go there and we would end it there, alright. It doesn’t matter if I am blind, it won’t change anything.”“No, you should stay at home. You decided to change your name again?” Ashton beamed. “I must say that this name is better than the former one.”Elaris tilted his head to the side at his word, no wonder nobody blinked an eye when he announced a new name. The brat changed his name every time too.“I rushed here as soon as I heard the news. What’s wrong with your eyes? They said that you are blind.” Ashton’s voice was tinged with worry.“Damn those idiots.” Caden cursed. “Nobody asked them to spread the news.”“Do you have any idea what is wrong? I must say that Lord Cald is truly blessed.”Chatters ensued as the boy’s name was called, all eyes fixed on the young man who was walking to the judges, taking his good time.He was dressed in the finest material made from cottens that were imported into Astrad from Embrayl, his shirt and trouser suited him perfectly well and the green color e chose greatly enhanced his skin color.“Look, who’s next? “The poison backfired on the girl, didn't it?” Elaris asked suddenly and the man’s weapon stopped a few inches from Caden's neck. His eyes widened in shock before he whirled over to turn to Elaris, the others exhaled in relief, they were also shocked that he went for Caden instead of any of them but when they thought about it again, it wasn't surprising.“No fair! Trying to hurt the only lady among us.” Oliver scolded as he moved closer to Caden to check his condition. The man’s attention was on Elaris who met his gaze confidently.“H-how did you know about that?” He stuttered and Elaris stared at him from head to toe once again before he shrugged. There was a faint scent of blood and poison on the man, but the splashes on his clothes were bright red that might have been gotten on his during the hunt for a killing but very dark red that a poisoned person coughed out.His sudden request for money also solidified his suspicion, of course, they were bandits who tried to take something fr

Nethrowl was also the perfect place for its existence, since it is a dry city with little to no source of water bodies.“How are we goin

Elaris blinked once, then twice as he stared at the second woman who he had started to see some similarities between her and Jaxon. The similarities between her and Max weren't that potent but that was because Max looked especially like his mother while both Jaxon and Elaira took after their father, Dax was a mix of both. Now that he knew her relationship with the household,it made sense why she felt the need to take part in their discussion and pitch in her opinion on their trip to Nethrowl.Caden had once told him that he had a stepsister,he just didn't expect that she would be off in the military with General Blackwell.Even though Hila hadn't said a single word since they entered the room, it was not hard to know from her body language that Elaira was someone that she respected and it wasn't out of fear or status. He half wondered if they had another person to deal with.“It is a pleasure to see you again, grandfather, but I would like to start making preparations for our journey

Elaris figured that he must have visited some city lords or the Dean, maybe he just did some early rounds.Despite his old age, he was a huge man who sat perfectly straight, his sharp eyes burrowed into him but Elaris didn't flinch under his heavy gaze. His head was lowered respectfully but it was obvious that he wasn't cowering, he remained in that position until he finally cleared his throat and addressed him.“Max told me that you have changed your name once again,” he said and Elaris straightened himself.“Yes.” he replied, his gaze went to Max for a fleeting moment and saw that he had a sardonic smirk on his lips.It wasn't hard to figure that Mad had ratted on him because the older man had expresse

This place is close knit and it was immediately noticed that these men were strangers and the kid had been deceived by them.”All the four men looked at each other with silent understanding, Elaris furrowed his brows while Ashton couldn't control a frown too. They didn't expect that the men would stretch their capabilities to a city with less crowds.“There aren't some men prete

It doesn't work that way.
