Elaris scoffed at her and let go of her whip, the sudden release caused Lania to tumble back and take a bit to regain her stance, this made her glare at him.

“Of course, I am not blind, but even if I was, I would be able to catch that whip of yours.”

Murmurs arise among the students because of Elaris admission to Lania’s accusation. They wondered if he had been pretending at the arena that day.

Among the students who had surrounded the field were Dax and Jaxon, Dax didn’t waste the chance to walk forward and stand in the center of the crowd.

“Everyone, I am glad that you were here when he made that admission.” Dax started loudly, getting the attention of everyone present. Ashton glared at him with disgust while Elaris could only maintain indifference at his antics. “I am sure that everyone knows how much of a clown my step-brother is. He is totally useless and tricky to the core, he once razed a performance simply because he didn’t win a competition in order to mix the score all over.

According to the estimation of time, it took at least three hours before Doctor Mdah arrived. It would take exactly thirty minutes to get to his house by horse because he lived at the southern side of Astrad which was to the south east of the Academy itself. But Doctor Mdah was such a busy person and would delay the messenger for at least two hours before he decided to come or not and it would be after another thirty minutes that they would make it back to the academy.“Let’s just hope that you would not make the academy offend Doctor Mdah with your antics, I wonder if you would be able to take the heavy responsibility that comes with it,” Jaxon said from where he was standing, Dax had gone to stand with his elder brother.Max had also arrived at the academy and he was standing at a quiet spot that allowed a good view but didn’t have a lot of students standing there. He gazed at Elaris who didn’t even blinked an eye in the direction of his brothers despite their continuous attempt to

I did some investigation and I would believe it entirely if the only reason Elaris won the top position at the entrance exam was just to keep the Wilder’s mouth shut about getting them out of the house.”“Yea, the Wilder are anxious to get them out of the house after the news leaked that General Blackwell was thinking of takin

It wasn’t an intruder at his door but a person he sent somewhere.“Young master,” A female voice said.“How is what I asked you?”She adjusted her stance and stared at him with serious black eyes which were hiding under the fringes of her shoulder length hair. “It was hard but I still found something out but it might not be up to your expectation.”“It is alright, this is Doctor Mdah you are dealing with, I don’t expect you to bring news detail for detail. Tell me what you have found out.”“It seems like Elaris helped Doctor Mdah save a life,” she informed and his attention was quickly on her.“I am sorry, what?”It was outrageous to think about not to mention saying it happened in reality.Doctor Mdah wasn’t nicknamed the Divine doctor for no reason, if there was someone that Doctor Mdah couldn’t cure, it is b

Elaris didn’t bothered to check how far they were behind him, his goal was focused ahead, he knew that the only way he could have upper hand over them is if he managed to find a closed place to lure them to, he scope out his surrounding and it was long before he saw a cave in the distance and rushed closer to it without second thoughts. He went in and the assassin followed after him but he had immediately blended with the shadow as soon as he saw that the inside of the cave was dark and there might be a little problem for people finding each other. It should have been difficult for him too but Elaris had sharp vision from all the years on the battlefield, warring at night and fighting in the dark, so his eyes traced every one of the assassins as they moved cautiously.Elaris moved without a sound and went behind one man, he twisted his head before he could even get a sound out and quietly dragged him to a corner while he took his sword and quickly slotted himself into a tight corner a

“This Abode Cave is the most dangerous place you can ever wander to in all of Astrad, and judging by your luck to be here I must say that you are really something.” Ashton said as they continued running. Elaris didn’t bother to reply to him. “This place wasn’t always like this, it was one of the most pleasant places to be at but it was often visited by women only, men didn’t have time to sit at caves and gossip. That would just be abnormal. There is also a stream where women bathe so even if they wanted to, they would be labelled a pervert, the women would have a lot of fun and discuss their problems and it was nice.Until one day, some unknown men came into this cave when there were a few women who were bathing and brutally molested them before they were killed in the most gruesome way possible. Those men were never found but since then the ghost of those women have always hunted this place, the stream they usually bathe in has turned to pure red since that time and has never changed

Where is your brother?” Dax asked, Caden only awarded a glare in their direction before he decided in his mind that they were not worth wasting their breaths on.Dax who had expected Caden to panic and cower at their presence like he always did was angry that the man dared to irritate him, he folded his hand over his chest and narrowed his eyes at the man before he barged in his direction before he went to stand behind him and Caden who turn to swing in direction could only

This is your surprise!” The man had the nerve to look like he had been deeply betrayed by them.“Surprise? How about I slice your head off your neck as a surprise for your surprise,” Azacia asked angrily, she was already marching forward to the man who was stepping with the animals and Estrina quickly wrapped her hands around Azacia’s arm to stop her.“I don’t mean any harm! • Chapter 62: The Violent Harsh City

Nethrowl City; the third city on the pyramid in the empire. It was a city that shared a border with almost every city in the empire, a very dry, rocky, harsh city with harsher dwellers. The places in the city that weren’t often visited or lived in by the Neths were spiked with thorny bushes and their houses were mostly wood because any other form would cause too much heat in the harsh city and those houses were painted in mostly brown and grey. The whole city is surrounded by the scent of heavy metal and everything about it was hostile; it was strictly advised never to bring an adult who couldn’t watch after himself, talk less of a child. The city was recorded to be the dwelling place of great generals and many warriors when the Slave War broke out centuries ago, it was chosen because the open desert space was close to every major city which allowed the soldiers to enter any city quickly once help was requested.Centuries later, only people whose upbringing was similar to the harsh cl

“The poison backfired on the girl, didn't it?” Elaris asked suddenly and the man’s weapon stopped a few inches from Caden's neck. His eyes widened in shock before he whirled over to turn to Elaris, the others exhaled in relief, they were also shocked that he went for Caden instead of any of them but when they thought about it again, it wasn't surprising.“No fair! Trying to hurt the only lady among us.” Oliver scolded as he moved closer to Caden to check his condition. The man’s attention was on Elaris who met his gaze confidently.“H-how did you know about that?” He stuttered and Elaris stared at him from head to toe once again before he shrugged. There was a faint scent of blood and poison on the man, but the splashes on his clothes were bright red that might have been gotten on his during the hunt for a killing but very dark red that a poisoned person coughed out.His sudden request for money also solidified his suspicion, of course, they were bandits who tried to take something fr

  • Chapter 59: Threatened!

“Ashton! You are here!” Caden exclaimed and Ashton nodded, glancing at him briefly before his gaze was back on the bandit leader and Elaris. The men were already attacking them when they saw that their leader had taken the lead with Elaris, a few blows were exchanged and the sounds of steel colliding was heavy in the air.The man was tall and heavy while Elaris was fast and nimble, putting the former in disadvantage, it didn't help matters that it was just the perfect place suitable for Elaris movements. The fight was over as fast as it had commenced, the men who were fighting Oliver, Caden and Rex also retreated when they saw that their leader had surrendered–it wouldn't make any sense if they continued the futile fight.“We surrender, you can go,” the leader grunted quite harshly, still glaring at Elaris who remained unbothered with a side eye.Even though it might not seem like it to any other person, the bandit leader was very aware that he wasn't on Elaris' level. Oliver hit his back on a tree and slid down while Caden relaxed on another, Elaris remained standing in front of the beast and studying it. The white belly had turned utterly black, merging with the rest of the color of the beast. He remembered what he had once heard one of his teachers say; An Ashcrawler’s color is only united at death. This event had made him realize how much he had missed while he trained at home and never left the military camp, training to be on a higher level.Sure, he had heard of different kinds of beast while he was at home here and there but he never truly faced one and didn't feel the need to study intensively about it because he believed he had no business with it.And he had had none.By the time he was general and earned the king’s approval, monsters had long disappeared from the land and only met once in a blue moon. Now, years back in the past, he discovered that he had no true extensive knowledge of beasts and monsters, and his ignorance almost cost t

  • Chapter 57: Ashcrawlers

If the ember filled cracks wasn't enough to confirm its identity, then the molten pus that dripped down its jaws and caused everything it landed on to turn to ask was more than sufficient.“What the fuck is that?” Oliver asked in a semi trembling tone while Caden looked like he had frozen up.“Curse my luck,” Rex mumbled.“It is an Ashcrawler.” Elaris replied and Oliver’s eyes widened dramatically before he turned his attention back to the monster that was just standing there and seemed to be observing them–it was hard to tell with things that had no intelligence. They are spider-crab hybrid creatures with scorched, obsidian like shells, which hide in ruined abandoned places and are drawn to the heat of conflict.Considering the fact that they were close to the border where irritable soldiers and citizens collide, it wasn't surprising to see it here. Nethrowl was also the perfect place for its existence, since it is a dry city with little to no source of water bodies.“How are we goin

  • Chapter 56: Journey

Elaris blinked once, then twice as he stared at the second woman who he had started to see some similarities between her and Jaxon. The similarities between her and Max weren't that potent but that was because Max looked especially like his mother while both Jaxon and Elaira took after their father, Dax was a mix of both. Now that he knew her relationship with the household,it made sense why she felt the need to take part in their discussion and pitch in her opinion on their trip to Nethrowl.Caden had once told him that he had a stepsister,he just didn't expect that she would be off in the military with General Blackwell.Even though Hila hadn't said a single word since they entered the room, it was not hard to know from her body language that Elaira was someone that she respected and it wasn't out of fear or status. He half wondered if they had another person to deal with.“It is a pleasure to see you again, grandfather, but I would like to start making preparations for our journey
