“Caden, you have the nerve to train for your military nonsense when your brother is practically lost?” Jaxon asked as both he and Dax came to see Caden who continued to practice his moves.

“He is not a kid who can’t take care of himself, not everyone is like both of you,” Caden’s voice dripped with sarcasm as he answered them without paying any attention to where they were.

“I heard from the maid that it was the both of you that went into the woods to look for Pat together but now only you replied with the butler? Where is your brother?” Dax asked, Caden only awarded a glare in their direction before he decided in his mind that they were not worth wasting their breaths on.

Dax who had expected Caden to panic and cower at their presence like he always did was angry that the man dared to irritate him, he folded his hand over his chest and narrowed his eyes at the man before he barged in his direction before he went to stand behind him and Caden who turn to swing in direction could only

I can see it in his features,” Ashton said which made Phina hesitate in her step before she turned to glare at him but Ashton only smiled at him, a smile that made his eyes small and squinted.Phina scoffed before she turned and continued her way to Elaris which made Ashton smile drop and he scoffed at her too.“Don’t worry, he only beats up bad women, you are not safe.” He added and Phina turned to glare at him once again

They didn’t retreat to their rooms but the backyard instead, the weather had turned cooler and nicer as night approached so Caden had gone to train again, dragging both Elaris and Ashton along with him in order to get an explanation about what happened at the Abode Cave. The Abode Cave was an extremely sacred but evil place and he still couldn’t shake off the shivers that settled on him ever after seeing both Elaris and Ashton in blood and flesh, they had some cuts on their body but it wasn’t something that would last for a long time and he was extremely glad about that. If they had been wounded grievously except from the danger that it imposed on their lives, he didn’t want to imagine how smug the Wilders would have been.“Anyways, those assassins we met before you left and those who chased me to the caves weren’t sent by the Wilders,” Elaris said after explaining the whole ordeal to him and he quickly turned to furrowed his brow at him, holding his sword firmly in while breathing ha

Ashton hurried back in the direction of the places that he just left, it wasn’t long before he was heading in the direction of both Elaris and Caden’s room. His intention was to inform Elaris alone and they would know what to do because going to Caden would be a big mistake. As he rounded the corner that led off the hallway of both Caden’s and Elaris’ room, he bumped into Caden who seemed like he got up to do something, the latter stared at him in confusion as if not believing that he was there for a minute.“What are you still doing here? I thought that you had gone home,” Caden asked but Ashton didn’t answer him, he just took his hand and directed him to Elaris door. Without bothering to knock, he opened the door and entered, Elaris who was meditating quickly opened his eyes and raised a brow at the interruption.“You should listen to your own lessons and let one of your older siblings teach you manners,” Elaris said and Ashton took a brief second to glare at him before he remembere

“I don’t know which pull the crowd most, the military or the Academy, I have to make sure to pay double the amount to the man in charge in order to get us to this front seat,” Ashton complained as both him and Elaris finally managed to get to their seat, both of them heaved in relief.“At least most of the crowd at the academy are the students,” Elaris stared around. “It seemed to me like all the people in the town had taken a day off to come and watch this.”“Common people think that Academy exams are boring, it is for the culture and you would sit still without getting a lot of excitement as they continued to do a roll call, they would rather stay back and sell things at the market.”“So they are all here because the Military competition is always interesting?” Elaris asked and Ashton nodded.“It is almost like a fight to death without the killing aspect and I think that it gives them a rush to know that the ones who would be protecting their borders are strong.”“That’s just pitifu

Max stood still with red eyes that darted from right to left as if searching for an escape but he knew that he was damned.“That should teach you not to mess around again, an arcaner should stay at Arcane Hall or branch, don’t try to gloat about some useless moves here.” Caden said but he didn’t bother to keep his words quiet and since there was silence in the hall everyone heard his words. The soldiers who had been glaring at Max couldn’t look more pleased than they looked at that moment, the dam of conversation had already burst among the audience and the murmurs had taken an abrupt rotation and turned on Max.“I told you that it is Max Wilder that copied Caden’s moves, do you believe me now?”“Yes, what were we thinking? Wilder isn't on any level of Blackwell when it comes to swinging sabers and swords.”“Even if it was Caden that stole Max's move, what bad was it anymore? He should be glad that someone was able to advance his moves to that level.”“If the original can be beaten by

“I didn’t want to bother you before you have attended the competition but now that you have qualified as one of the top fours, tell me what the opportunities you would enjoy at the examination are,” Elaris asked Caden later that day.“When I went to take the exams, I noticed that those who were among the top four who passed the competition were given the front seat when it was time for the pep talk before the exam, they were given the opportunity to go first at whatever everyone was doing, this remove the chance that someone would have shown a movement that would overshadow them or the soldiers in charged would have gotten so tired and bored by the time it was them to fight. It would also look good on the profile whenever a person was sent to another base, think of it like a badge but the best part of it is the outstanding badge which only belonged to soldiers who performed exceptionally well in the ring, I am sure that the badge would be given to Ueaz,” Caden looked away. “I wasn’t c

It wasn’t the sort of place that he could just bring either Ashton or Caden to.He was a dead man anyway, but the others were great assets to the empire and they would bring about many great changes. He could die with a little bit of peace knowing that they were out there somewhere and didn’t like the bad things that the Visterian king was up to.He started walking forward, taking one step after the other without catching the sight of anyone. He was all alone here and that was what made him even more vigilant because he had to watch out everywhere. He hadn’t even gotten halfway and was walking beside a cave before he

Just do it just like you were told, don’t think, block out every sound and let it all come to you effortlessly.” Elaris instructed as the both of them closed their eyes and put to good use, the explanation that was provided to them earlier.“What do you plan to do in this city? Something tells me that you are not here only for Caden’s first channeling,” Ashton said but Elaris didn’t say anything, he only focused harder on the two people in front of him.Ashton only sighed when he figured that Elaris wasn’t going to say anything.“Alright, I would trust you to tell me before you start though, I don’t want to get into tro

This is your surprise!” The man had the nerve to look like he had been deeply betrayed by them.“Surprise? How about I slice your head off your neck as a surprise for your surprise,” Azacia asked angrily, she was already marching forward to the man who was stepping with the animals and Estrina quickly wrapped her hands around Azacia’s arm to stop her.“I don’t mean any harm! • Chapter 62: The Violent Harsh City

Nethrowl City; the third city on the pyramid in the empire. It was a city that shared a border with almost every city in the empire, a very dry, rocky, harsh city with harsher dwellers. The places in the city that weren’t often visited or lived in by the Neths were spiked with thorny bushes and their houses were mostly wood because any other form would cause too much heat in the harsh city and those houses were painted in mostly brown and grey. The whole city is surrounded by the scent of heavy metal and everything about it was hostile; it was strictly advised never to bring an adult who couldn’t watch after himself, talk less of a child. The city was recorded to be the dwelling place of great generals and many warriors when the Slave War broke out centuries ago, it was chosen because the open desert space was close to every major city which allowed the soldiers to enter any city quickly once help was requested.Centuries later, only people whose upbringing was similar to the harsh cl

“The poison backfired on the girl, didn't it?” Elaris asked suddenly and the man’s weapon stopped a few inches from Caden's neck. His eyes widened in shock before he whirled over to turn to Elaris, the others exhaled in relief, they were also shocked that he went for Caden instead of any of them but when they thought about it again, it wasn't surprising.“No fair! Trying to hurt the only lady among us.” Oliver scolded as he moved closer to Caden to check his condition. The man’s attention was on Elaris who met his gaze confidently.“H-how did you know about that?” He stuttered and Elaris stared at him from head to toe once again before he shrugged. There was a faint scent of blood and poison on the man, but the splashes on his clothes were bright red that might have been gotten on his during the hunt for a killing but very dark red that a poisoned person coughed out.His sudden request for money also solidified his suspicion, of course, they were bandits who tried to take something fr

    “Ashton!
