2 ~ A Beautiful Woman In Distress

CHAPTER 2

Benjamin  was deeply hurt. He never believed his wife, Gabriella would have insulted him in a disparaging manner. 

Devastated, he left the house and wandered on the street till midnight. He wasn't ready to go back home. 

His mind went back to the Doctor's words. 

“The Tumor is still at the early stage. If you need to treat it, you must have at least a million dollars!”

Those were the Doctor's final words before he left the hospital. He was happy the tumor could still be treated, but the question is, where will he see that amount of money. 

A million dollars is quite substantial. There is no one to depend on, his wife, Gabriella doesn't have any work at hand, she only sits at home, and watches movies. 

Unfortunately, he had lost his job this morning, and his insurance couldn't afford to pay for it. There is no way to gather the money, and that makes him brood more. 

He was really living a shameful and useless life as Gabriella had claimed earlier. 

At the midst of his thought, the blaring sound from his phone brought him out of his reverie. He located his phone in the pocket, and picked the call. 

Immediately he heard the arrogant voice, he knew who it was. It was his brother, Liam. 

Arrogantly, he said.  “Where have you been, Benjamin ? Everyone had been expecting you to come back to the family. Grandfather wants you to come back, why are you proving so stubborn? You are disrespecting the elderly,” 

Benjamin  found his words impolite, and he sneered angrily, “I'm not coming back to that dirty family. You guys shouldn't count me as one of the Sons of the family, I've disowned you, and it's final!”

“What do you say? What did your grandfather do to you? The Old man wants you to come back. Stop being filial, Benjamin !” Liam, his brother flared up angrily at him. 

He chuckled coldly, “Your Grandfather had killed my parents and you are telling me to come back home, you must be insane!” His voice was tinged with rage, and yelled at the top of his voice. 

A dead silence fell upon them for some seconds before Liam spoke up, “It was a misunderstanding, Benjamin ! He didn't do it! The Old man is really worry-sick about you!” This time round, his voice was softened. 

“Yes, he didn't do it personally but my parents got dead because of his decisions and choice. If he hadn't threatened them, would they have been dead?” He was furious, his blood rushed through his veins ragingly, his eyes were bloodshot. 

“Fine! I know you are hurt and pained about the death but Grandfather really wants you. Give him….”

“Get off my phone, Liam!” He screeched. 

Angrily, he disconnected the call. He was boiling in rage as he remembered all that had happened. His Grandfather had threatened his parents, and due to that, they fell into the death’s trap. 

Suddenly, a loud thunderstorm was heard, and it began to rain heavily. He knew if he got back into the family, he would have enough money to treat his Brain Tumor. 

His Grandfather was a business tycoon, and he was very popular in the country. The Jefferson  family is among the top ten families in the country. 

A million dollars shouldn't be a problem for his family, and so? He ain't guaranteed the Brain Tumor surgery would come out successfully, or he could fully recover. 

He neglected the thought, he doesn't want to go back to his family even if it could save his life. 

Feeling devastated and downcast, Benjamin  walked in the rain. He was getting drenched by the rain as he walked helplessly. He didn't know where he was going but he kept walking, and wandering in the night. 

“Somebody! Help me!”

A feminine voice echoed through the rain, and he halted on his spot, thinking he heard a voice. He waved it off quickly, he thought that he had heard wrongly. 

“Somebody! Help me! Help!!”

Once again, the feminine voice came up again, but this time around, the voice was very clear and much louder. 

Instantly, he heard loud footsteps running towards him, and his heartbeat began to beat erratically. 

He saw a beautiful lady running through the driveway, and getting drenched by the rain at the same time. 

The Beautiful Lady halted the moment her eyes landed on him.  She ran up to him, and begged for help  in a low tone. 

“Please help me! Save me from those gangsters! They want to rape and kill me! Please Mr, Save my life! I will be grateful!” She cried heavily as she kept watching her back. 

He listened attentively to the lady but he turned to walk away. The loud voice stopped him, “Are you that heartless? Please, I'm begging you; Help me to get away from these gangsters.”

Her emerald green eyes shone in anger, and began to weep uncontrollably. “Mr., Please help me!" 

He was about to lose his life anyways, so he shouldn't care about getting into trouble. At least, the world will know he saved a beautiful lady in distress and wasn't useless after all. 

Instantly, they could hear some fast approaching footsteps, and a voice —that seemed to be coming from their leader was heard. 

“Pursue her! She mustn't escape!”

He nodded his head in agreement, “Fine!" Immediately, he dragged her into the dark valley, it was so dark and narrow.

He pulled her behind a giant flower, and covered both of them with the leaves. Their bodies were pressed against each other, Benjamin  could feel the girl's body and he had a reaction. 

They both felt each other's breaths as they hid behind the flower.
