When Lisa was afraid that her father would kill her if he found out she was with Peter over the night, she did not mean literal kill or even scolding.

Her father always had a weird way of mocking her and making her feel shy anytime such things came up and she hated it really much.

If anything, Mr. Thompson was happy that his daughter finally found someone she loved after being single for over five years after college.

He really wanted her relationship with Peter to work because he saw Peter as fit to be with his daughter and most deserving.
