After the manager's strange reaction had caused Anthony to turn around, only to be shot at the moment his eyes could barely see the silhouette of Jason holding the gun, he was fortunate that the boy didn't have enough shooting experience, and could barely see his target due to the state of his eyes.

The recoil force of firing a gun, mixed with his lack of balance and dizziness was enough to push Jason backward but not enough to throw him off his feet as he now tries to regain his balance.
