"WHAT!?" Patience exclaimed. It was now she realized, looking past Julius to see Grey's unconscious body, dead?
She ran to her husband straight away, dropped to her knees, and held on to his unconscious body, screaming in tears.
The others followed behind her. Anthony and Annabelle were the last two to join them.
"What's going on here?" With his heart pumping fast and eyes skating all over the place, Anthony asked himself, confused by what he was looking at. He never knew he could see such faces on the Maples.Suddenly, three out of the remaining members of the family walked in. There was Paul Penn, Candice, Julius and the twin's father, their mother Elizabeth Penn, and finally Genevieve Maple, Annabelle's mother.
They were given the gist of what was happening and while Genevieve and Elizabeth both became very emotional and fell to their knees around their parents, Paul remained stoic, quietly observing what was going down while tightening the grip of his suitcase, suspiciously.
Outside the mansion, police sirens were approaching fast and soon enough Patience stopped crying, having nothing but rage left in her heart and expression.
"WHO DID THIS?!" She yells in a thunderous voice.
Anthony looked around, shocked by everything happening in front of his eyes, and without any warning, Annabelle abandoned him too, running to comfort her mother.
One finger is all it took to destroy Anthony’s entire world and the one doing the pointing was Julius.
"I'll never mistake that bizarre silver hair color anywhere. The person who pushed Grandfather was none other than Anthony Star!" Julius said and they all glared at Anthony while at the same time rushing in were the police.
"There he is officers!" Julius said and all the officers rushed Anthony, aggressively grabbing and putting him to the floor.
"Let go of me!" Anthony screamed, trying to force himself free but the Police hit him continuously with their batons and pushed him against the floor to stop him.
"In case you're wondering what the police are doing here, I'm the one who called them. I also called an ambulance and they should be here very soon" Julius said as they all watched Anthony being manhandled by the Police and none of them had a shred of remorse for him.
"Hey, what do you think you're—" Annabelle was just about to speak up for her husband but then her mother held on to her, implying that she doesn't do anything that goes against the general opinion of the family.
"Ahh!" Anthony was grunting in pain, the biggest officer in there had his heavy knee on his spine, trying to break it under his weight. The Officer was smiling from seeing Anthony in pain but even though he was struggling Anthony was also glaring straight at Julius.
The torment continued up to when handcuffs were being locked around his wrist and Anthony's expression quickly changed to that of someone who had gained understanding.
He was getting pulled out of the mansion when he spoke up "Wait a minute, I haven't done anything wrong. Julius is lying to all of you!"
"Why don't you shut the hell up you scumbag!" The same officer who had tried to break his spine slapped him by the back of the head and then shouted at him.
"Officer Wa-" Anthony was just about to call the officer's name when…
"WAIT!" Suddenly Patience spoke out and everyone stopped, wondering why she exclaimed.
She gently rested Grey's body on the floor, leaving his body under the care of his two daughters and granddaughter then got up and started to walk towards Anthony.
"Grandmother, please you have to believe me. I didn’t do an—"
*SLAP*
Like an unexpected strike of lightning, Patience slapped Anthony across the face with so much force that it echoed through the entire mansion."??" Anthony was so shocked that his jaw dropped. The slap had caused a cut on his lower lip.
Even though he had received an uncountable number of insults and threats from Patience, this was the first time she had ever gotten physical and he remained starstruck until the Officer pulled on him.
His eyes unconsciously went above Patience's head and the shock he had dwindled immediately.
He had thought that the grief she was feeling after being lied to by Julius was what made her slap him but that initial thought he had as a means of rationalizing the slap just changed.
"You know the truth too?" Anthony mumbled with widened eyes and Patience smirked.
She said "This will teach you to know your place, dog!" then he was taken away.
He was put into the back of the police car with the officer making sure that he didn't guide his head so that it bumps into the frame of the door. He obtains a bruise there too.
While the police cars were beginning to drive away, Annabelle was finally able to break free from her mother’s grip, wanting to run towards Anthony and the police when...
"Don't you dare think about stepping a single foot from there!" Patience spoke out in a thunderous voice, stopping Annabelle in her tracks and Annabelle then turned around.
"But Grandmother, you know— you all know that Anthony isn't capable of something like this. It must be a mistake!"
"Listen to your Grandmother honey, you know you can't do anything to offend her. We know nothing about the man you decided to marry so it isn't hard to believe that he could do this. If your cousin said he did then he did" Genevieve said with her eyes almost as red as her perfectly applied lipstick
"But mother!"
While Annabelle and her mother argued, Patience walked up to Annabelle, stopped, then out of nowhere slapped her across the face too.
Next, she leaned towards a shocked Annabelle’s ear and whispered "I told you that there'll be consequences for disobeying me earlier didn't I? So, don't think about moving from here or disobeying me ever again, else I'll make sure Anthony disappears from the world, permanently, understand?" Patience threatened then walked back to Grey.
None of them expressed any sympathy for Annabelle, not even her mother who looked more desperate for her own mother's validation than wanting to help her daughter who was about to cry.
Meanwhile, Anthony was taken to the Polaris City Police Headquarters for processing and then thrown into a holding cell where all he could do was think about how he got here.
“Those bastards framed me. First, they falsely accused me of r*pe, and now this?! How low will they go?” He got mad, fists clenched, and punched the wall.
“Fuck trying to spare them, I'll have my revenge on everyone single one of them once I get out of here, that I promise—'
Just then he heard the cell door being unlocked and then the voice of the Officer who dragged him here from the Maple family mansion speaking to him on his release
"Watch where you're walking!" The Officer said while grinning maliciously, holding on to Anthony as they stood at the cell's entrance. Even though he had been the one who pushed his leg in front of Anthony's path so that he would trip over it, the officer still acted like he was trying to save Anthony from falling, to get close to him. "What are you doi—?!" Anthony aggressively asked the officer because he noticed that he wasn't trying to help him but was using his body's weight to prevent him from standing up, instead. "Listen here you piece of shit, do yourself a favor and LEAVE ANNABELLE ALONE! She deserves better than rubbish like you and I won't warn you again!" the officer whispered into Anthony's ear. Anthony scoffed at the Officer. He found this completely ridiculous and as a result all the anger he was trying to suppress earlier just up and vanish. He started laughing. "Why are you laughing you twat?! You think I'm joking?!" The Officer got angry and stepped back which al
"We're almost there sir," said the taxi driver, looking at Anthony in the back seat through the rearview mirror with curious eyes. "I couldn't believe it when you told me that the Maple mansion was your destination but I'm glad I didn't clock off early today" The driver had a huge grin on his face "So what job do you work here? Are you like one of the helpers or something? Maybe a bodyguard? So cool!" the driver smirked while Anthony remained silent. Just the assumptions being made by the driver were already insulting enough, but, Anthony didn't take it too much to heart. He accepted the fact that from how he looked, nobody in their right minds would straight up assumes he was a family member of the Maple's "My wife and I are in serious need of a job and extra cash so if it's possible, can you try putting a word for her when I drop you off? I'll like to get your number so that we can keep talking—" "You're mistaken, I don't work here. Never have and never will!" Anthony finally
Aside from Annabelle, Anthony could sense the hostility oozing from everyone else and all the alarms in his head were going off. What could they want? "Look at that, the dog has returned! Sadly, Officer Wilson and his partner will be taking you back to jail, a cage where animals like you truly belong!" Patience standing in front of the other family members spoke. "What are you talking about? You know what, I don't have time for thi—" Anthony was extremely tired so he waved Patience and the rest of the family goodbye, wanting to walk away when… "You're not going anywhere you scumbag! You remember this?" Officer Wilson stepped forward, blocking Anthony's path to his room and then he pushed something small and shiny towards him. "A woman's necklace? Of course I don't remember that, why should ?!" Looking annoyed Anthony answered. "This was found in your room and we all know you can't afford something this luxurious. The real owner is right here, Carla Maple!" Officer Wilson said, pro
Without needing to be asked, Anthony extended his hands with his wrists pressed together, expecting them to be cuffed. However, Officer Wilson who was walking over to him didn't even try to take out his handcuffs from around his belt buckle. "There won't be any arrests happening here today," Officer Wilson said, standing behind Anthony and helping him drop his hands. "Then what are you going to do Officer Wilson?" Julius asked "Well, I've come to understand that my Captain cares about this trash a lot, so if I was to make the arrest I'm certain that the Captain would find a way to get him released by tomorrow. I know none of you wants that, right?" "That sounds like a logical concern, so what's your idea, Officer Wilson?" Patience inquired. "This is up to you guys to agree with or not but I suggest that you all KICK him out of the mansion and force him to pay the amount the necklace is worth. That would also mean that I and my partner will be responsible for holding on to the ne
Disgraced and kicked out from the only home he's known since the day he married Annabelle, right now Anthony needed a place to spend the night but he didn't have any cash. His wallet was still in his room but he swore he wasn't going to step his foot back into the Maple mansion. The faces of his in-laws were the last thing he wanted to see right now. After a little thinking, there was only one place he could go, a men's homeless shelter and so he got on his motorcycle and drove there at full speed. The place was crowded and he could barely sleep because of the noise but he managed and in the morning, he went straight to THE BANK He needed money if he was to survive his exile and because he didn't have his debit card on him, he had to get a counter check and withdraw all the money he had saved. "Here are your five thousand dollars" the accountant passed him his money in a tidy envelope and he kept in his suit pocket, right beside his phone which had been blown up with messages from
Before coming to the casino, Anthony had first spent some time in a movie cinema, and towards the evening was when he arrived at the Jade Casino, walking over to one of the busy roulette tables. He had a sack in his hand that contained all of his betting chips. He had bought $5000 worth of chips which he’s used and lost and now he only had $500 left. There were already two very wealthy men, brothers, playing a game of roulette when he arrived at the table. They had a stick of the most expensive cigar sold within the casino in their mouths, and even the lighter they use was more expensive than everything he had on him. "Where do you think you're going, pig?!" One of the bodyguards of those two men blocked Anthony's path, stopping him from getting closer to the roulette table. "I'm just trying to place my bet after this round" Anthony said, trying to act cool so that this mountain of a bodyguard doesn't hurt him for no reason. The bodyguard took a good look at Anthony, from head to
"Anthony?!" Annabelle turned around and instead of her, Anthony was looking at the suitcase. "Thanks for bringing my stuff, hope it didn’t inconvenience you," he said then pulled the rolling suitcase to his side. He started to notice how quiet Annabelle was being which isn’t how she behaves around him, and because of that Anthony got a sense that something was wrong that he didn't know about. This had to be different and unrelated to him being exiled from her family mansion, he thought. "Hey, what's wrong? You’re acting like you’re hiding something from me, are you?" He got closer, trying to comfort her. "No it's nothing, don't worry ab—" she said with her head lowered but the moment she looked at Anthony, she paused abruptly. She became angry, scowling, and defensive all of a sudden, saying "You're not using that on me right now are you?! You promised me that you'll never try it again” Her sudden outburst caught Anthony off guard, leaving him speechless for a hot second. Thoug
The leader began to panic, red-faced, eyes bulging out their sockets, and was grabbing his veiny neck, trying to breathe. He started hammering his chest with his fist to try and force himself into breathing again and although it worked, his breathing was now unsteady. The leader stepped back, afraid of what Anthony would do next, however, his legs were too weak that stepping on a small pebble behind him made him trip and fall on his butt. The other gang members were also terrified by Anthony because only higher echelon members of the Mob have ever been able to place this level of fear in any of them. Even the police have never been able to get this type of reaction from them but here comes Anthony doing the same thing. "The penance stare!" the informant in the gang mumbled but he went unnoticed. They quickly rushed to their fallen leader, trying to help him up while he looked like he was just about to throw up everything he had eaten that day. Being forced to hold his breath for
