Shortly after jumping from the jet, the assassins came to notice how badly damaged the city was. It almost looked like an entirely different city. Fire and smoke danced into the air and some of the tallest buildings were now piles of rubble on the ground. Innocent people were even running and screaming for their lives as Demon Beasts chased after them.
The dark clouds hovering above only made the chaos below look even more desperate. It all looked like a scene from an apocalyptic movie.
While they descended, Nathan looked over at both his friends before giving them a reassuring nod. Sindy and Andrew did the same as they drew their weapons ready for battle.
A second later, explosions rocketed through the area as the assassins made contact with their enemies. Rick was the first to attack, taking aim at a humanoid level 10 Demon Beast that was the size of a ten-story building.
"Chaos Art: Chaos Rain!"
Rick quickly activated a powerful Art Style that summoned over a thousand red needle-like raindrops that impaled the Demon Beast, filling it with holes like swiss cheese.
The Demon Beast then fell to the ground with a heavy thud before disintegrating into a massive cloud of dust. Nathan could hardly believe how easily Rick had killed the level 10 Demon Beast. He was sure that if he was the one who attacked, he would be lucky to even remove an arm.
Following this, the assassins then landed calmly atop a skyscraper before observing their surroundings below. This was when they noticed that a few people beneath them were about to be killed by a pack of low leveled Demon Beasts. If nothing was done then the civilians would surely be killed.
"Damn it!" Cursed Nathan. "We've got to help them!"
Nathan then prepared to descend the building to help the people below him. However, before he could even move, Rick grabbed onto his arm, stopping him.
"What are you doing?! Those people are going to die if we don't help them!" Exclaimed Nathan.
Rick frowned, "What we need to do is examine the situation before acting. It could be a trap. If you act carelessly then not only will those people die but you will too."
"Tsk... I know that but you can't expect me to just leave them to die!"
"If you act now then you're on your own."
"That's fine by me!"
Nathan then jumped from the building, down into the city to help those below. The last thing he wanted was to have anyone else die under his watch. He couldn't bear to have the same thing repeat itself a fourth time.
"I'm going too!" Declared Andrew as he followed.
"Same, I can't allow anything to happen to my friends despite how reckless they are!" Supported Sindy as she too followed.
Instructor Brady then sighed. He knew that Rick was being the most reasonable but he couldn't allow his students to die. He too had to follow.
"Sorry Rick," he apologized. "But these kids aren't the type to watch people die without trying to help. We need to help them whether or not it's a trap."
Following this, the Instructor also jumped leaving Rick behind. Rick hissed in frustration upon seeing this. He too now had no choice but to follow.
Nathan simply couldn't stand by and watch the people die. He dived into the open street, intercepting the Demon Beasts that had been chasing them. Following this, he lunged toward the Demon Beasts before quickly cutting them down with Sindy and Andrew coming to his aid.
"Get away from here and find someplace to hide!" Shouted Nathan to the civilians.
However, this was when something unexpected happened. Suddenly, a 300ft humanoid Demon Beast appeared from behind a building before swinging its massive arm towards them. The three assassins were left stunned. There was no way that they could hope to dodge or even block the attack.
Fortunately for them, Rick came down with a powerful swing of his red-bladed sword, severing the Demon Beast's arm, saving their lives.
"Earth Art: Giga Impact!"
Following Rick's attack, Instructor Brady activated a powerful Art Style before slamming his massive hammer into the Demon Beast's head, cracking its skull open. The sound echoed through the chaotic streets like a bomb before the Demon Beast disintegrated into a cloud of dust.
Instructor Brady's Giga Impact amplified the force of his attack by three times the original strength. With this much force, it was a cakewalk for him to defeat a level 10 Demon Beast with a single attack.
"You saved us!" Gasped Sindy.
"Before we jumped, I told all of you that you needed to follow orders," reprimanded Rick. "I didn't say that for show. The situation at hand is not a simple rescue mission. If you act carelessly then you could all die."
"I know that but what if you were the one in the civilian's situation? Wouldn't you want someone to help you?" Argued Nathan.
"No, I'd grow a pair and fight those Demon Beasts myself. This isn't a movie, it's real life. Wishing for someone to save you is childish. You either save yourself or die. Heroes aren't real and the sooner you realize that, the better."
Nathan wanted to argue but before he could, four figures walked out from the shadows applauding them. The assassins then quickly got themselves on guard upon seeing this. This was when they took notice of who the mystery figures were.
The first one was so muscular that he looked like he ingested steroids daily. He had long silky black hair, golden-brown eyes, and carried two massive axes on his back.
Two of the others looked like professional killers. They were dressed in black ninja-like clothing that covered even their faces but they weren't very muscular. Instead, they looked quite agile.
Lastly was none other than the Beast King himself. He had the same old dirty cloak from before while holding his scythe comfortably on his shoulder. His eyes still held the look of a madman, complemented by the unmistakable scar on his face.
"Well, look what we have here! There's going to be a feast tonight!" Exclaimed the Beast King.
Nathan, Sindy, and Andrew looked on in astonishment. They had never expected to run into the Beast King so soon. It was almost as if they were fated to meet again.
"This is the reason we observe before we engage," complained Rick bitterly.
Instructor Brady then looked at Nathan, Sindy, and Andrew. He could tell that they were barely holding themselves back from attacking the Beast King. However, they needed to keep themselves calm. It was evident that they weren't paying much attention to the other three surrounding the Beast King.
"Hey kids," called the Instructor as he removed his cigar from his lips. "Don't make any reckless moves. Keep your calm and await Rick's orders."
"Yes, sir..!" Answered both Nathan and Andrew in unison. The look of rage present in their eyes was enough to send a full-grown lion running for its life.
"Brady," began Rick. "Those ninja guys are from a supporting Organization called Atom. I know it's a bit unfair but would you mind taking on both of them?"
"Unfair you say? Come on Rick, it's not like you to be so modest. I know you're planning on taking Rocca by yourself. Compared to that, fighting two ninjas is nothing. The question is; are you sure you can win?"
Rick then tightened his grip around his sword before giving a sly smile.
"Rocca, the man of steel," said Rick. "Also known as the most powerful Clique commander. He'll be a pain in the ass to fight but I think I can win if I take this seriously.""Then does that mean we get that scar-faced bastard?" Asked Nathan.
"Yeah, Nathan and minions, you take care of the Beast King since I know you have a score to settle with him."
"Minions?" Complained Sindy feeling disrespected.
Rick didn't respond. Instead, he and Instructor Brady lunged at their opponents, initiating the start of the battle. The only one left behind was the Beast King himself.
Time seemed to slow as the three friends stared their enemy in the eyes. The Beast King was however surprised to see that they were already back on the battlefield after what he had done to them.
"How unprecedented," he muttered. "I was almost certain that you three would have given up after the beating I gave you the last time we met. But since you're back, I'll make sure to just kill you this time!"
The air was blanketed by black smoke. The dark clouds grumbled from above and the sound of different explosions rocketed throughout the city. In some areas, metal clashed against metal creating a sound similar to sharp fingernails scratching against a chalkboard. It was a scene that the three friends had only seen in movies. They watched the Beast King intently as the wind blew against his tattered garment. His devious smirk wrenched their hearts like a torture tool. This man had brought so much pain to many innocent people. He needed to be stopped at all costs. "Sindy, you take my left and Andrew, you take my right," ordered Nathan. Andrew and Sindy then quickly got into position with their weapons in hand. "Well, this is quite a surprise..." Began the Beast King callously. "I expected you all to be groveling in your failures but instead you're back on the battlefield. I must admit that I'm quite impressed." "We decided that we wouldn't
Sindy and Andrew dashed towards the Beast King. They couldn't allow him to kill Nathan."We're best friends!" Shouted Andrew."We won't let you kill, Nathan!" Supported Sindy.Forced to defend himself from their attacks, the Beast King swung his scythe towards them. However, they feigned to block his attack by sacrificing one of their weapons each. Due to this, they were both able to bypass the Beast King's defense.Desperately, they then went in for one final attack. They simultaneously lodged their weapons into the Beast King's shoulder just barely missing his neck. Finally, they then twirled themselves skillfully before delivering one final kick to his chest. The Beast King was sent flying backward as he bounced across the asphalt like a basketball.A second later, he began screaming in agony due to his injuries. He bled heavily from both shoulders and his eyes were filled with malice and pain."Aagh..!" He screamed. "Damn you insects!! I
Nathan didn't know what he was supposed to do. He needed to save all the hostages. One moment of distraction had led to this painful predicament. For once, Nathan wanted to be successful in saving someone's life. He needed to defeat the Beast King and keep his promise to Rosie. "King, what do you want us to do? I know we embarrassed you pretty badly out there but you're only making it worse by hiding behind a bunch of hostages," taunted Andrew. The Beast King frowned, "You're just asking me to kill the hostages, aren't you?" "No, we want to make a deal with you!" Interjected Nathan. "In exchange for letting these people go, you can do whatever you want with me. I'll throw down my life in exchange for theirs!" Andrew couldn't believe what he had just heard. There was no way that he would allow Nathan to sacrifice himself. However, on the other hand, the Beast King was quite pleased to hear this. It was the perfect opportunity to make Nathan suf
Nathan clenched his fist in rage. His back was against the wall and the lives of many people were at stake. He hated to admit it but he only had one option if he wished to save not only the civilians but Andrew as well. If nothing was done then they would all be crushed by the crumbling building. He then took a deep breath and closed his eyes as he made a painful decision."Death, lend me your power!" Shouted Nathan. "I'll accept another letter! Just lend me at least 5%!"Death was very pleased to hear this. Nathan could sense the sinister smile he made from within his graveyard."Very well!" Answered Death from within his mind.Just then, a vast amount of Death Energy engulfed Nathan's body. Black lightning sparked and thunder boomed. The air around him became filled with the presence of death. Soon after, his right eye burnt with cold black flames and a darkened wing emerged from his back. His transformation was complete.Following this, a
The heinous images of the destruction of Conscience City crashed into Sindy's mind. A beautiful city where she had once wished to spend a romantic date with Nathan was now nothing more than his grave. The pain rattled her like an aftershock. If given the choice, she would have surely chosen any other form of physical pain over the emotional trauma that now haunted herSindy laid in her bed covered with red blankets, Nathan's favorite color. Her eyes were painted pink from the excessive crying that they had been through over the past two days. She had cried so much that she was surprised her eyes weren't bleeding. They stung as if acid had fallen into them."You never keep your promises..." She muttered softly to herself.Suddenly, a knock came echoing through her room door. Naturally, due to how she was feeling, she did not answer."Sindy, it's Andrew... Let me in..."The silence continued. Sindy still refused to respond. In a sense, she reminded A
Arc 2: RevivalNathan found himself watching his life like a movie. His memories played one by one like an old cassette to its player. From the time he was a baby being held in his mother's gentle arms, to the times when he met Sindy and Andrew. The happiest moments of his life played out peacefully, filling him with a strong sense of nostalgia. Nathan wished for the feeling to last forever. He wanted the sweet moments of bliss to stick to him like glue. Sadly, that all changed as soon as the memories of his father, James Styles, entered his conscience. He was the man who had abused his family for countless years. This was the hidden part of Nathan's past that he had never shared with anyone apart from Sindy. The belt, the whips, the stones, the hammers, and the knife threats all poured into his mind. They corrupted his peaceful memories like a deadly poison and like a flood, they drowned his thoughts;"Nathan, you should know better than to disobey your father," said James in a calm
Nathan's memories continued to pour into his mind like rain. He was happily reliving the memories of his past without his evil father coming across his conscience. This was when he stumbled upon his memories of the Mind World. However, something was strange. His memories were beginning to fade as if they had never happened in the first place. For some reason, he was losing his memories. His memories of Sindy and Andrew were the first to go followed by some of the experiences he had gained at AA.Loneliness soon began to cripple Nathan's soul. He could feel his existence quickly fading. A teardrop then fell from his eye and hit the dark floor beneath him that somehow changed into a dark lake upon impact.Nathan then fell into the lake beneath him with a splash before he began to sink. He flailed his arms and feet wildly as he tried to escape but it was to no avail. However, just before he could drown, his eyes were flung open to see a beautiful white light hovering above the lake.Desp
Nathan's eyes slowly opened to a light-brown oak wood ceiling. The scent of garlic rice, hot peppers, and baked chicken stabbed him in his nostrils. His stomach growled and his body felt a bit weak. He then slowly sat up only to realize he was on a small bed in a dimly lit wooded building."Where am I?" He groaned.Nathan couldn't recall what had happened to him. It was as if parts of his life were missing from his memories. He had a mild headache and his thoughts were fuzzy. He remembered basic information like his name and how he had gotten to the Mind World but that was all.Carefully, he then slid from the bed onto his feet. The floor was cold and smooth underneath his bare feet. However, he had some difficulty keeping his balance almost as if he had never learned to walk."You're awake!" Suddenly squealed a sweet voice.Nathan then fixed his gaze to get a clear image of the person before him. It was a girl that looked around 16 years. She had lush orange-brownish hair and curious
