"Young master, what happened? What did you both conclude?" he inquired, his voice tinged with concern.

"The criminals refused to negotiate and demanded a million dollars. I tried to tell him th at I didn't have a million dollars, but he told me to provide it at all costs if I really wanted to save Evelyn's life," he confessed, his eyes reflecting a mix of frustration and helplessness. Steve's expression shifted to one of confusion, his eyes widening with surprise at the unexpected turn of events. The weight of the situation settled heavily on both of them. He felt that the criminals would have a change of heart, but was wrong.
