106: Releasing The Enemy

As the first light of dawn began to filter through the small opening of the doors, Maria stirred, her senses slowly returning after a fitful night of exhaustion and hunger.

The sound of the unlocking mechanism sounds through the hall, sending a shiver down her spine. She knew what it meant – freedom, at last.

Her men, oblivious to the significance of the sound, continued to slumber outside, leaving Maria alone to face the moment she had been yearning for.

With a surge of determination fueled by desperation, she summoned every ounce of strength left in her frail body and began to crawl towards the doors.

Each movement was a struggle, her weakened limbs protesting against the effort.

But driven by a fierce will to survive, she pressed on, inching closer to the tantalizing promise of daylight beyond the threshold.

With trembling hands, she reached out and pushed against the heavy doors, her breath catching in her throat as they slowly swung open.
