9. The Job Board

Morning had come. But Nash had not slept at all since yesterday. He kept overthinking about the fox girl that Siegrid was dragging last night. Nash did not know why he was feeling like this.

Maybe it was because that girl’s appearance kinda resembled Chisato, a girl that Nash considered as his own little sister, so his brother feeling could not accept with the harsh treatment she received from Siegrid.

Now Nash was lying on a damp haystack in an empty stable. Then he got up and looked around. The reek smell of horse’s dung stacked here made Nash unable to sleep and stay awake, but what could he do? Nash was similar to a beggar now, and a beggar was not allowed to ask for more.

“I need to find money first,” he said while grabbing his empty stomach that had growled since last night. A potato was not enough to satisfy his appetite.

Nash got up and walked outside the stables. He needed to wash himself first, because he smelled similar to those dungs now, and the clients probably ran from him if he refused to take a bath. Fortunately this place was next to an abandoned spring.

He did not know why this place was not being used again, but he did not want to burden his mind with those useless thoughts anymore and just wash himself in peace.

Nash scrubbed every inch of his body and ensured all the sweat was rinsed. He finished bathing after twenty minutes and wearing a new suit that he got from the abandoned warehouse behind the stables. What a lucky coincidence!

Now Nash had fresh again, he was ready to work and collected money. After saving some money, Nash bought a Terraria map and started his journey to Valvaroa kingdom to reunite again with Chisato and grandmother.

The job board was not far from the stables, Nash had ask some people in the town and arrived at the square a minute before the town staffs updated the board. There are many people everywhere, all of them have the same intention like Nash, which was finding a job. The job board was buried behind all the people that crowded to reach and pick the job paper on it.

The lividness there made Nash quite hesitant to move forward, but as he heard the shrieking growl from his empty stomach, Nash threw all his hesitation and ran to the job board with all his might instead.

Nash stretched out his right arm and tried so hard to reach one of the job papers there.

(I don’t care what is it! Just give me a job to do! A job to dooooo!)

Grab!

He made it to grab a piece of paper and escaped fast from the board before someone saw it and tried to take it with force from him.

“Hosh, hosh, hosh.” Nash panted hard after getting into a safe place far from the job board that now looked more like a zombie center than a job board. However, Nash was quite satisfied with his own snatching skills, it might be that in the future he would get this skill as one of his meta skills.

“Time to read what kind of job that I got.”

Alas, the paper was half ripped because Nash grabbed it too strongly and was not seeing it properly.

“You’re so stupid, Nash.”

He opened it and sighed in relief because the information was still complete, even though it was ripped in half.

Nash scoffed and wanted to throw it aside. He had promised himself that he would not take any game-related things until he reached a sufficient level. He did not want to die in vain when he knew he could not even fight a goblin, not to mention a player like Siegrid.

By the way, talking about Siegrid, Nash did not see him everywhere. He was the one who told Nash about the job board, and it meant that he should be here, either looking for a job or selling that girl to a client.

If Nash saw him again, Nash would do something to release that little girl from him, even though it means like Nash was raising his death flag. Well, he had already died for thousand times, so it would not be a big problem, except that this time he could not be reborn again because the game had changed.

“I think I need to pick another job paper—”

Nash stopped his step when he saw something familiar.

It was Siegrid who grabbed the same paper as him and walked away from the job board. He entered a tavern with a huge beer picture on it and disappeared to the inside. Nash could easily recognize him thanks to his tall and scary expression.

“Is he planned to join the tower’s raid? With that little girl?”

He clenched his fist in anger. “I can’t let him do that. I’ll stop him and release that poor girl from him.”

“I’ll join the raid.”
