The forest is enchanted, and they cannot leave until they kill the ruler of the forest- That’s just how it is. The forest just spans endlessly, and they’re all trapped inside.
The elders were right. Only a Raven can defeat a Raven, and since the King is partly a Raven, Arwin can defeat him. No one else needs to get their life on the line trying to get out.
Arwin decided that she will prepare and face the King alone.
As she found a shelter- a small village within the forest that seemed to become a refuge to the people who had entered the forest and never made it out. They were survivors as well.
