Chapter Eighteen

Elena lay in the hospital bed, her body bruised and battered. Her eyes opened slightly, the blinding light of her room bulb piercing wickedly. The sterile, white walls seemed to close in around her, echoing the pain she felt inside. She felt entirely weak.

Her head banged painfully. The sharp memories of the assault, she could still vividly see Finn kicking the shit out of her. She groaned as loud as her strength could carry. She reached for the emergency button, and pressed it.

A nurse soon came to her ward.

“Are you ok ma'am?”

“I'm in so much. My head hurts so much.”

“I'm so sorry. Give a minute to get your medication”

The nurse administered some painkillers and a sedative so that Elena could rest. She'd been unsettled even after the medication.

“My baby nurse. What happened to my baby?”

Of course, her nurse couldn't tell her. The doctor had specifically instructed that she had no knowledge of her baby's death.

“My baby.”Elena cried. “I lost it, didn't i?”

“I can't tell you for sure
