Chapter Ten

As Alexander marched outside the elevator and headed to the parking lot where Brad was, he could hear heavy footfalls just behind him. "Alexander! Wait," the voice of his old butler came and he paused.

"I know what you're about to say," he said just as the old man began to speak. "I don't regret it."

Harry shook his head in sympathy, "You have no idea what you have just agreed to, the Trial is not a joke! This could be your last day in the Sean family, it's a freaking trap and you walked right into it!" He snapped.

"He didn't exactly leave me with any other choice," Alexander replied defensively but Harry disputed that. "You had the chance to beg for mercy and find your ground in the city first, have an idea what the family is all about, at least know your enemy before taking him on," Harry replied.

"Beg for mercy? Wasn't my father the grand master of the family? Why should I beg a mere messenger for mercy?" He asked arrogantly. Harry sighed and asked him to get in the car, "Let's talk in the car, I have something I need to let you know."

Alexander and Harry got in and Brad had to stand outside for both men to converse privately. "I should have maybe told you this the first day I met you, but I didn't want to overwhelm you," he began and Alexander nodded.

"Finding you wasn't an exactly easy task, I faced many challenges and I almost gave up, but I had made a solemn vow to your father and I had to keep it." He explained.

"You mentioned it, I wasn't easy to find, how does this lead to that man denying me the crown?" He asked impatiently. Harry shook his head, "You still don't get it do you? Finding you was hard because many people didn't want me to find you," he explained and then looking around, he muttered slowly, "One of such people might have been your uncle, Josiah. He didn't believe you would be worth anything since you didn't grow up in the family, he often advised me to stop searching, he believed you had to be dead or in prison to be so hard to find. But I didn't lose hope and then I finally found you, he's not so happy to be proven wrong and...he's... " Harry stammered and Alexander knew that the old man was being careful with his words.

"I deserve to know everything, Pa Harry," he begged, "You said it yourself, I need to know my enemies first, you can hide anything important from me."

Harry sighed and nodded, "You're right. I should let you know that your uncle wants to take your father's place," he said.

Alexander's eyes widened and he clenched his fist in anger. "My father died in that seat! He died taking care of the family!" He snapped.

Harry nodded with a sad look on his face, "I know that Alex, I also know that you are the true heir but the family has been living for many years without a leader and we needed someone to rule, to take decisions, to lead this family, we all picked Josiah to take over until the day you were found," he explained.

Alexander nodded, it now made perfect sense why Josiah didn't ever want him to come back and now he was trying to get rid of him. "So this is a scheme to get rid of me?" He asked.

Harry nodded and replied, "Yes, if you can't complete the trial and be victorious then you will never return to the Sean family and he will get to be the grandmaster, just like he's always wanted."

Alexander scowled as he replied confidently, "You are right, I may not know the family, but I certainly don't know how to lose either, I will complete the trial and I will take back my place, trust me."

Harry's doubt still danced in his eyes but he said calmly, "I trust you, young master, I trust you." He said and then told him to show up at the tower in three days to begin the trial, "Good luck, young master," he said as he left the car.

Brad got in and started the car, reversing out of the company, he asked, "Where to, young master?" Alexander thought for a second and then replied, "Take me back to the Continental Hotel, I need a quiet place to think."

Brad nodded and sped down the white neighborhood. But they didn't get to drive very far when the car suddenly screeched to a halt. Alexander lurched forward and had to hold himself to the seat. "Young master, we have a problem," Brad said with a cold tone.

Alexander looked outside and saw that the road had been blocked by three police vans, all facing forward. "What do they want?" He asked aloud and Brad shrugged.

At that time, another car arrived at the scene. It was a very familiar silver convertible, Fiona's favorite ride. She got out of the car and walked to him, swaying her hips wildly. Right beside her was her brother, Gilbert.

Alexander got down from the car and faced them, "What is the meaning of this? You're in my way," he snapped impatiently.

"Oh quit that show!" Fiona sneered and gestured at the car as she said, "Did you really think I wouldn't find out? Did you think you could steal from me and get away with it?"

Alexander frowned at her accusation, "Steal from you? I have never taken a dime from you since I met you, Fiona," he replied angrily.

"Then how did you afford such a sleek ride and then reject the money my boyfriend gave to you? Huh?" She asked, crossing her arms.

Gilbert stepped forward and got to his face, "No one dares to steal from the Tudor family, we will teach you a lesson," he spat and immediately, the police vans opened and almost a dozen officers came to Alexander with handcuffs.

"You're under arrest for stealing and fraud, you have the right to remain silent."
