Silence stretched with Acer, waiting for a hung up or a reprimand that never came. Her boss was still on the phone. She could hear him breathing heavily as if he were in the same room as her. He was furious, his hands clenched into fists. He wanted to hear her out for unknown reasons.

As much as he despised admitting it, he needed to hear his team out. He was already on the block, and brainstorming was required to solve Texas's problem. His team did not need to know all of the details, but he was open to new ideas.

Acer held her breath as she waited. She'd never met her boss before and had no idea what he looked like, his age, or his race. From the way he spoke or addressed people, she concluded he was an arrogant, wealthy jerk full of himself. He was most likely born with a silver spoon in his mouth.
