Grasping For Memories

The scent of chamomile and lavender hung heavy in the air as it wafted softly from the candles which had been lit around, it was a stark contrast to the sterile hospital walls Garnet had grown accustomed to the past week.

Home, with its sun-drenched garden and long curving drive felt alien yet oddly familiar. The doctors said it would be normal for her to feel disoriented due to the amnesia. But for Garnet, it was a gaping hole in her life, a void she could not seem to fill no matter how hard she tried and try she did, so much that her head aches.

The first thing that struck her was the absence of rings on her fingers. No gold band etched with runes to show that she belonged to this man who had constantly hovered around her, fussing over her and staring anxiously at her.

Thor. the name which was supposed to be familiar and comforting tasted like sand on her tongue. Images flickered in the corner of her mind – a booming laugh, a mane of golden hair, a gaze that could ignite the sun. B
