"You do not speak to me that way." Marcus said as he took a step closer to them showing his dominance in a place that wasn't even his but it did nothing to put the men in their place even for a while. They belted out another laugh and waved him away like he was a fly. That was what you get with rich people and Marcus was tired of it.

"Get out of here. Just because luck happened to shine on you for a while you choose to make a mockery of yourself. Go back to your place and let the people of a higher station speak." Grayson shouted out, his eyes shooting daggers at Marcus.

Marcus moved forward ready to land a punch on both men's faces. Judging by both their builds they would be too slow to stop him before he landed a hit. A good enough punch before security would get him out of the building. Fair enough. His palms had already balled up, getting ready for the beat down ahead of him when a soft hand rested on him, halting him.

Marcus turned around and on seeing Rachel's calm but assured

After Marcus had helped Rachel get her company back by that bold move he made, Rachel was in the mansion a lot less. Her presence was missed by few but to some others they didn't really mind the vacuum she left. Marcus was one of the latter people. They weren’t on bad terms anymore but he couldn’t say that he missed her presence anymore than he could say that he loved matcha. Ps. he hated it. His new wife was away from the house most of the time since she had a company to run and her being away gave him more time to focus on his own work. Whenever she would get back from work she would have dinner with him and the family but mostly didn't look him in the eye.Marcus never thought much of it as he placed his files into his suitcase and stood upright. He had other things to think about such as this conference that he was meant to attend. It was for the CEO's or stand in heads of several business empires. The conference was a way for them to mingle and discuss business ideas and if poss

Marcus' eyes opened. He could see a sliver of bright light around him through the slits in his eyes which caused him to shut his eyes again as a sharp pain went up his shoulder. The light was giving him a slight headache. His wrists felt sore and his face ached. He tried to turn his body a bit, feeling very uncomfortable but a sharp pain shot up his spine and into his head eliciting a pained groan from his lips. Marcus slowly opened his eyes, wincing as the harsh light that flooded the hospital room. Blinking away the fuzziness, he found himself in the sterile environment, hooked up to various machines that beeped and whirred, monitoring his vitals. Pain coursed through his body, a constant reminder of the attack that had brought him here. The attack that almost got him killed. The attack that killed someone else. As he tried to push himself up, a nurse who he hadn't noticed was in the room earlier, rushed over, gently urging him to lie back down, her hands soft and her face full of

Sarah approached Marcus' hospital bed, her expression a mixture of concern and relief. She wore a simple white blouse and jeans, her dark hair pulled back in a loose ponytail. But behind her casual appearance, Marcus could see the worry etched in the lines around her eyes as her gaze moved upon him. "You look like hell," she said with a dry chuckle, perching on the edge of the bed where he had indicated.Marcus attempted a smile, wincing as pain shot through his bruised face. "Nice to see you too, Sarah."She reached out, her hand hovering over his bandaged arm before gently settling on his uninjured shoulder. "Seriously, Marcus, I leave to travel and you get yourself into even more trouble than before.” She huffed at him before continuing. “Are you okay? When I heard what happened...""I'm fine," he interrupted, not wanting her to worry more than she already was. "A broken rib, some bruises, a mild concussion. Nothing I can't handle." He shifted slightly, trying to find a more comf

Marcus felt tension coil in his stomach. He hadn't expected them to find him here, though he should have known better. If Davon was involved in his accident then it only made sense that Scarlett would get involved as well. But he didn’t think that she would show up at the hospital of all places. "How did you get past security?" Marcus asked, though he didn't really care about the answer since they were in the room already. Scarlett's lips curled into a humorless smile. "Money opens all doors, Marcus. You should know that by now."She moved closer to the bed, her gaze sweeping over his bruised body, a small frown of concern glancing over her features. Kane remained by the door, his posture alert, eyes scanning the room for potential threats."Who was the woman?" Scarlett asked, her tone casual but her eyes sharp."A friend," Marcus replied simply. "She's leaving town tonight."Scarlett nodded, seemingly satisfied with his answer as she touched his arm."Good. You don't need distract

“Who the hell was that woman?” Rachel asked him, her brows furrowed in confusion and slight annoyance.Marcus ran a hand through his hair, not liking the fact that Scarlett and Rachel had seen one another. He sighed. “She’s no one. A friend.” He muttered shortly.“A friend who just threatened me.” Rachel retorted, dropping the bouquet in her hands on the night stand beside Marcus’ bed. She placed her hands on her hips and scoffed.“I came here to check up on you after I heard what had happened. Your family is already in the lobby trying to sort some things out. If you knew that you had a mistress or sugar mummy or whatever, you should have told me. That would have made the line in this arrangement very clear.”“Wait, hold on.” Marcus tried to stop her from blabbing away because there was no way in hell that Scarlett and he had anything going on but he was not going to tell Rachel of how he lived his life in the past.“You already knew that I had Davon and regardless of how that turn

It didn't take much to convince Marcus as he was sure that the man was the one that they were looking for. He raised his hand and pointed to the man at the corner who looked like he would rather be anywhere than in police custody."That's him.""Are you sure?" Ramirez asked, squinting at Marcus. "I'm positive." Marcus replied. Ramirez rubbed his hands together."Then we have our second man. We'll separate him from the rest and investigate him and his partner and get the information on who sent them. Thank you for your time. And Wei, you can go back now."Marcus made no move to leave. He gave Ramirez a steely look."I'm staying. I want to be in the interrogation room with you when you question them.""Sir, that's against protocol. We can't… ""I don't care what your protocol is. I will sit down in that room and ask the questions that I am entitled to."The officers felt like they had to say something but with the way that Marcus stared at them and how his security loomed in the backg

Marcus left the station almost immediately after hearing what Alejandro had said. The officers wanted him to stay and hear what the other criminal had to say to better corroborate that Eleanor Wong was really the one behind his hit and potential assassination but Marcus didn't want to stay any longer.Alejandro's testimony was enough for him and if the officers ended up finding any other thing then he would be informed later on but for now, he had to teach that woman a lesson for what they tried to accomplish. But how would he do that when she was already behind bars. He could have her killed off but that was not the kind of man he was. Just then a thought came to him. A way to make Eleanor’s time in prison more horrific than she liked.Marcus smiled to himself and as he got inside his car, he pulled out his phone, calmly dialing the number of someone that he knew would help him. The phone rang only once before the person picked up the call."Hello. Yes, get to my house as soon as you

She obviously denied even seeing either of them before and claimed that it belonged to someone else but when she couldn’t point out who, she became the main target. So much so that she was thrown into solitary for her to have some time to reflect on her actions. Some time being a few months. All in all, it was a good lesson. Marcus’ eyes fluttered open once more to voices but this time it wasn’t just his father’s and Rachel’s. Several male voices were thrown into the mix. He kept his eyes shut because of the bright light in the room and instead listened to what they had to say about his situation.“You say that he remembered her? I’ve checked his vitals and apart from his fainting spell he’s in good shape. If that’s the only reaction he has to telling him his past then I think letting him in on it all may be for the best but only in small doses. We can’t have him fainting every second of the day because he learned something new about himself and then having to undergo therapy if his mind fractures.” A male voice warned.“Noted doctor but I have one last question. Since he remembers her, is it okay if we tell him about her?” Micah’s unmistakable voice rang through.“I think that’s fine. You can but remember only in small doses.”A collective sigh of relief filled the room but there was one voice that stood

  • Chapter Ninety-Four: A ZAP BACK TO REALITY

Marcus stood still in contemplation after Micah, his father had left him alone in the hallway. He thought of what he could do next. Did he need to ask his uncle and grandfather or did he need to wait for the right moment? Would Victoria even know who Rachel was? No. He couldn’t ask her anything relating to the mystery woman. He didn’t even know the full story and if he asked Victoria it may lead to several problems especially since he knew that she was the jealous type. He shook his head, not stuck on what to exactly do as he walked off in the direction of his room. He would wait and see and later approach his father once more to ask questions. He didn’t want to be a pest but he needed to find out what was going on especially when his father was so cryptic with the response he gave. Marcus understood that his condition didn’t allow them to tell him certain things due to the way they treated him these past days and he had been content with that but what he didn’t get was what the know

Victoria. He shook his head at the thought. How would she feel after that night? She had come to him for comfort and he turned her away because he remembered a woman? A woman who he could swear he shared a kiss with. He would have to apologize for it but also keep the image to himself. He had made up his mind. He would apologize to Victoria first before approaching his father with his questions. He picked up his phone and made a quick call to the staff members to bring something to his room. • Chapter Ninety-Two: FAILED ATTEMPT

Days went by and so did two weeks before Marcus was mostly introduced back into the business of the family. He hadn't gone to the company yet but he was almost up to speed on how to run the company once more, the way he deemed fit before he had the accident. It wasn’t hard to keep the secret of him owning several companies in other states as well, since the news of his alleged accident spread and he had to watch it all on the news. A small mistake on Elias’ part when he left the television on for Marcus to browse. The new information had not hurt his brain in any way and once the family found out that he was still fine, they explained some of it to him. Not the part about the Wong’s and his conniving wife but the part about him building a name for himself before becoming a multimillionaire and heir to the Wei legacy. All of which he took in stride. With that, Marcus had decided that he wanted to go back to his old companies but when Derek Zhao had heard about the accident he had ca

  • Chapter Ninety-One: WELCOME BACK

In a week Marcus was diagnosed with a good enough health and state of mind to leave the hospital. Three cars were already waiting for him when he came out of the hospital, to take him back to the Wei mansion. His work as the CEO of Wei Conglomerate had been put on pause with his father, Micah taking the reins once more. Marcus stood for a bit and allowed the warm breeze blow in his hair, still not fully sold on the idea that he had a family apart from the Wong's. He may not like the Wong’s but it was the only family he knew. A family that wasn’t like the one Scarlett gave him but it was a family nonetheless. One of the chauffers walked up to his side of the door and opened it up, prompting Marcus to enter the vehicle. Marcus eyed them. There wasn't anything suspicious about the men he had met some days before. The men who called themselves his family and in all honesty he would get to see Victoria if he went with these men. He was skeptical but with the way that the hospital staff gre

  • Chapter Ninety: THE CHALLENGE

After Victoria had finished reveling in her newly acquired satin sheets and downing almost a whole bottle of Dom Perignon, she had gone into the bathroom reeking of both alcohol and cigarettes. She quickly took a relaxing bath and once she felt okay enough, she stepped out of the tub and dried off. It took Victoria forever to actually pick out an outfit to wear and go downstairs but it was even longer for her to style her hair and work up the nerve to face those men again. She didn’t really care about the time limit that they gave to her. She just wanted to relax and enjoy the pleasures of being somewhat rich again even if it was only going to last for a week. She would do whatever she wanted on her own time. That was her mind set because after all, they were going to pay her to be here so she had the upper hand.About three hours passed by and Victoria finally left the room she was given in a black as night Saint Laurent gown and sashayed through the hallways, touching and glaring at

  • Chapter Eighty-Nine: A TASTE OF FREEDOM

As per the call that Micah had received about where to get Valerie, the trio had arrived at the local police station on the outskirts of the city. The place was bustling with activity—officers moving about, the sound of phones ringing, and the unmistakable sterile smell of institutional cleaning products filling the air. It was a stark environment, especially for someone who had always bragged about living an illustrious life. Micah could feel his unease as he took one look at the building. He expected Victoria to be in a better situation, but as his eyes landed on a thin figure sitting on a bench near the processing desk, he sighed at the drastic change, a small smile still trying to show on his lips due to her look. He and his family got processed at a desk near the entrance and then walked over to her, who still didn't notice them and looked like she cared less about her current predicament. Her appearance was disheveled, her once-pristine image now gone. Elias scrunched his face

They were keeping something from him and he would make sure that he found out what it was. Although he was told that they were his family, he didn’t know these people and he was not sure what they actually wanted him for, but for some reason the man who said that he was his father looked a bit familiar. He was about to say something else when the door to the room opened up and a familiar face barged in, her face showing her distraught and her mouth in a frown. “My little dagger.” She pouted as she pushed through the men in the room and approached Marcus on the bed, holding his hands in hers as soon as she reached. “Hey!
