Victoria Wong adjusted her Hermès silk blouse, checking her reflection one final time before starting her Instagram live stream. Her office at Wong Enterprises, her other company, was the perfect backdrop – floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city, modern art pieces worth millions adorning the walls, fresh flowers arranged just so on her desk. Luckily enough for her, Marcus hadn’t taken that company from her. Hence, how she managed to still conduct some business even though Wong Enterprises was little compared to Wong Facilities.

"Hello darlings," she purred into the camera, watching the viewer count climb. "I know there have been some... unfortunate rumors circulating lately. I wanted to address them personally."

She glanced at the comments flooding in, a slight smirk playing at her lips.

"Yes, there have been some legal complications and my false arrest of course. But I assure you, everything will be settled soon. Wong Enterprises remains stronger than ever." She leaned closer

The fluorescent lights in the interrogation room cast harsh shadows across Victoria's face, stripping away the carefully crafted glamour she usually wore like armor. Her Hermès blouse, now wrinkled from hours in custody, seemed harshly out of place against the stark metal table.Zhang placed a thick folder on the table with deliberate slowness. "Let's start with Ray Alvarez." He began, shooting daggers at her. "I have nothing to say about that unfortunate incident," Victoria replied, her voice steady despite her circumstances. "As I've stated publicly and vehemently, his death was a tragic accident."Marcus stepped out of the corner of the room, a cold smile playing at his lips. "Show her, Detective."Zhang pulled out a series of photographs, laying them methodically before her. Security camera stills showing Landon Keller entering Ray's office. Bank statements documented transfers from shell companies. Text messages between Victoria and Keller flickered on a tablet screen. Almost

Marcus's penthouse apartment glowed warmly against the darkening city skyline. The floor-to-ceiling windows offered a breathtaking view of the twinkling lights below, so different from the harsh fluorescents of the courthouse and police station where he'd spent most of his days while he was trying to put his enemies behind bars. The dining room table was set with fine china and crystal glasses that caught and scattered the light from the modern chandelier above. Next to him sat his trusted friends and business associates. "To justice," Marcus raised his glass of wine, looking around at the intimate gathering of friends who had become something like family during the long battle against Victoria Wong and her cohorts. Detective Zhang, Sarah Martinez, Derek Zhao, and Lori all lifted their glasses in response, the echo of the glass filling their ears as they clinked them together."I still can't believe it's really over," Lori said, shaking her head with a smile. She'd been Marcus' assis

Marcus leaned back in his leather armchair, gazing out the floor-to-ceiling windows of his corner office, his desk left unattended as he watched the people below move around like ants without a purpose. The city skyline stretched before him, a testament to the heights he'd reached. A far cry from how his life was almost a year ago. Five months of unprecedented success had gone by, transforming him from a promising newbie in the business world into a formidable leader. His acquisition of all the Wong and Parker companies had gone smoothly—almost too smoothly as Victoria’s incarceration had helped move the mind of her boards—and now Marcus found himself at the helm of three thriving enterprises. Three enterprises apart from Rivera Technologies. Not only that but Marcus had gone into another venture with his business partner Derek Zhao. A venture that was shaping up to be a big hit soon. Marcus sighed and got up from his armchair, going back to his work station. His fingers traced the

The restaurant Marcus arrived at was he and Derek’s regular haunt. An exclusive establishment where the waiters knew their preferences and the sommelier had their favorite wines memorized. Derek was already there when Marcus arrived, nursing a glass of bordeaux and reviewing something on his tablet."There he is!" Derek stood to greet him, his enthusiasm infectious as always when he laid eyes on a somewhat sully Marcus. "You're going to flip when you hear what the R&D team came up with."“What’s going on?” Marcus asked, feigning interest as he took his seat from across Derek. A waiter arrived, placing Marcus’ usual in front of him without asking a question more and then disappearing.“So, the team came up with this software that allows us to tag our clients and trace their preferences by their online presence. I mean it sounds like stalking but that’s just the basis of it. The rest of—” Derek droned off while Marcus stayed distracted, his responses delayed as his mind was clearly else

The car ride was spent in silence between both of them till the car came to a stop in front of a gate made of gold. Just the gate seemed more expensive than the entire Wong mansion. Marcus’ own even. As they approached the gate, Eric pressed a button to open the outer gate, signalling that the mansion had a visitor. As they got to the security post, it spoke. It was an AI gate and only really wealthy people could afford them. Marcus had contemplated getting one but decided against it. “Please identify yourself.” The gate said as Eric rolled down the window to speak.“Eric Wei.”“Voice recognition, success. Welcome, Mr Wei.”The inner gates opened automatically and Marcus' eyes widened . Calling it a mansion did not do it justice as it looked more like a luxury estate. He had money but this was far over the top. Extremely so. How could one person own all this? Streetlights lined the driveway, and each of them were made of gold, not gold paint, real solid gold. It took almost ten minut

The party had lasted longer than Marcus had hoped and people still walked around the room unwilling to go back to their homes. He could still see his father, uncle and grandfather mingling with various guests, each of them still with their game face on. Marcus wondered how they got the stamina to be on their feet for about five hours straight. He was already tired as he stood alone at a column in the room overlooking the rest of the guests. Rachel had left some time ago. Actually, she left immediately she turned away from him and that was the one thing that Marcus didn't want to dwell on. He had had enough of the marriage talk especially when it was with another entitled rich woman. Marcus sighed and stopped leaning on the column. He had had enough of the party. They could all stay down here but he was done with the event in general. He began to walk away, out of the hall and towards the stairs in the lobby when he felt a hand on his arm. He turned around to see his father, Micah."

They should have been talking strategy or a compromise but here they were, speaking about a potential marriage when they could be sharing ideas and business plans on how to get their company to grow. The Blythes were one of the most powerful business families in the world, the Wei’s being behind only them in the city of New York. Unfortunately, Bruce Blythe was not doing

"Welcome back." He said under his breath. Once Elias finished speaking Marcus was able to get free of his hold. It wasn't bad or anything, hugging for long just made Marcus a bit uncomfortable. He smiled at his supposed grandfather, noting that the man wasn’t as old as he expected him to be. He had bought a gift for an old man but his grandfather looked anything but that. "Thank you." Marcus said still not able to get over the fact that this man was finally standing before him. His hand went to his pocket ready to bring out the gift that he bought and revived last minute when Elias spoke up."I can't believe I'm looking at my grandson after all these years of looking for you. I'm sorry we couldn't find you earlier but I'm glad you're with the family now." Elias mentioned, still holding on to Marcus’ shoulder. Elias turned at Micah, gleefully."He has your features and if what you've told me on the phone is true then he's more like your late wife than you."Marcus' mother. Elias had

Marcus sat back in his chair after the three board members of one of the subsidiaries of Wei Conglomerate left his office a bit disappointed as Marcus had informed them that they were doing poorly in some areas. He rubbed his chin and sighed. He knew that he was new to the job but he didn’t expect them to be a bit arrogant about it from the start. Regardless, they would have to listen to him. He was their boss after all. Just then there was a knock on his office door, causing Marcus to turn his attention to it.“Come in.” He said out loud.Lori walked in, her hair in a high ponytail and her nose buried in her tablet when she spoke. “How was it?” “As expected. He had been expecting to be woken up that early like the day before especially when the week had ended. “It's the weekend, Eric, why are you waking me up so early?” Marcus asked as he yawned and stretched in bed. Eric chuckled as he pulled the blinds away, letting the light flood into the room. “You of all people should know that you must not be the heir in words only. You have to at least have basic knowledge of your father’s business if you are to inherit it all from him. I know that you already know how to run a company but what your father owns is far bigger than that, so we need to teach you some important things if only you’re willing to learn. Knowledge is power after all.” Eric replied, standing to the side. “Can’t we start later?” Marcus asked, groaning. Why was this necessary? “You need to get used to waking early even here, Marcus. It will be a normal routine for y
