Chapter 64

It was 7:30pm when Maxwell decided to go back home. Mirabella offered to drop him off, but he insisted on going on his own to avoid suspicion from whomever he thought was watching him.

“Give us the one you owe. A deep voice barked in the open air, and the order echoed from a distance. Maxwell was still standing beside Mirabella’s car outside the bar when the voice started booming. They both turned in the direction the voice had come from.

Three hefty men surrounded a guy who lay on the floor bleeding. The men kicked on the chest one more time, and the man on the ground yelled for pain. Maxwell couldn’t hold the sound of the beating anymore, so he thought to intervene.

“Ignore them. Mirabella tried to convince him, but he ignored her and went on to save the man on the ground.

“Yo! Do you want to kill him?” He asked as he approached the men. One had a cigar in his hand. He walked up to Maxwell and puffed the hot air into his face.
