Mysterious Box

“Well, Thomas, can you bring me that cake?” Alvina used her son’s method of driving people away.

“Mom, thank you for everything, but mom doesn’t bother doing all that. I can take care of myself,” Sean said after his father left. Sean was happy that his mother cared, but Sean also didn’t want to keep his mother busy because of him.

“Mom, not bothered. I’m thrilled to prepare all that.” Alvina held her son’s hand, which was still very small but had grown into a man’s hand, more significant than her palm.

“Don’t let mom get into trouble again because of this,” Sean said quietly because his mother had suffered enough.

“No, honey, your grandmother has changed.” Alvina deliberately answered with a lie because Alvina didn’t want her son to worry too much about her like that.

“That’s good then, but Mom shouldn’t be busy anyway, for my sake.” Sean said while turning his face in a different direction.
