CHAPTER 60

The music played softly in the background as Jason and Summer stood on the stage, under the bright lights.

The crowd below them started cheering, but Jason’s mind was elsewhere.

He could feel his heart beating in his chest as he looked at Summer, unsure of what to do.

He wanted to take her hand to guide her in the dance, but he hesitated.

Summer has a boyfriend, and Jason didn’t want to overstep any boundaries. He doesn't want anything that would come between Summer and her boyfriend; she's a friend he really wants to keep.

If things were different, if Summer didn’t have a boyfriend, he would have held her hand properly; let them enjoy the moment fully. But now he couldn't.

Summer stood across from him, her eyes meeting Jason's eyes briefly before looking away.

She was feeling a mix of emotions too.

Deep down, she regretted lying to Jason about having a boyfriend because she knows he must be thinking about that now, and he would want to respect the boyfriend she doesn't have.
