After Vera finished the call, a big smile spread across her face.

She couldn't believe how quickly her good fortune had shifted against her.

Alex couldn't contain his excitement as he waited for Vera to break the good news to him.

Vera showed her appreciation to Alex by bowing her head as soon as the phone call was finished.

"This is only possible because of you, Alex. Thank you very much for helping me out today!"  

Vera was under the impression that Alex was the one who came to her aid.Because, after all, who else has a wider network than he does?

Alex was taken aback after hearing this information.

He couldn't trust what he was hearing at all. On the other hand, he was aware of his face and flashed a broad smile.

"Of course, I did tell you that my father would say some nice things about you to the organisers. You are no longer required to express gratitude to me. After all, what's the point of having friends if they can't look out for one another?”

Alex mocked Jaden by turning his back on him and saying, "If I hadn't been here today, I'm sure this good for nothing would have left you to suffer." Alex said this while maintaining his smugness.

“ I warned you not to give him any more opportunities; if you do, he will squander all of your chances and leave you regretting”

Beverly Cox, on the other hand, couldn't hide her bemused expression.

Subsequently, she laughed.

How could anyone be this shameless and two-faced?

Annoyed, Berv steps forward and is about to lash out at Alex to force the truth out of him.

However, seeing her sneaky movement,Jaden pulled her arm and held her back,stopping her from doing anything.

Berv felt Jaden’s hand on her shoulder. She turned to look at him and asked, "Why are you stopping me? Let me go. I have to make him talk."

Jaden replies, "Don't bother about him anymore. Let it go."

Even though Alex took the credit for Vera’s reenactment, he couldn’t bring himself to truly be happy. He was afraid of getting exposed for his lies.

He knew he wasn’t the one who helped Vera, but since nobody knew the truth, he could as well take the credit and bask in its glory.

Suddenly Alex noticed the stern warning in Bervelyn’s eyes. Exasperatedly,  he asked, "What are you staring at? Do you think I didn’t help her by simply taking credits?"

"If I didn’t help her, then who else did? You two losers! Haha! Don’t make me laugh."

"You two are forgetting your status. You should know where you belong by now, don't you?" Alex asked, mocking the two of them.

Beverly was boiling with anger by now, and if she had the chance, she would pull him aside and slap him across the face.

Seeing this scene,Vera chimed in, saying,saying,"Him? What could he possibly do to help? Even if he wanted to help, he can’t do anything other than watch like a spectator."

"You think too highly of him, don't you,Alex? The only thing Jaden Reed is good at is chores, nothing more. He can’t even earn enough money to survive on his own."

"Let’s go. You shouldn’t pay too much attention to a lowlife like him. Who knows what he might do next?"

Jaden was about to say something, but Vera shook him, saying, "I told you not to brag anymore, didn't I? You’re just a lowly man; what do you have to brag about?"

Jaden was rendered speechless.

Jaden couldn’t say anything and simply watched as Alex led Vera away from him.

Berv looked at Jaden pensively after the duo left.

Seeing the pain in his eyes,she asked, "Jaden, why didn’t you tell her the truth? It was you who helped her with the matter. Why did you allow yourself to be treated like a worm?"

Jaden adjusted his expression and said, "I can’t do anything about it now. Nobody is allowed to know my true identity now."

Unable to hold back the growing curiosity in her chest,Beverly asked, "Why?  Why not? This is not fair!"

Jaden looked up, seeing the sad expression on Beverly’s face. Jaden smiled and said, "This is because my mother and I had an agreement for three years—in two months,everything will change. Until then,this is how my life is likely to continue."

"Don’t worry about me; you should go ahead; I'll find my way around."
