The Prophecy: Battle for the ark of time

Recollection

I had just finished sword practice for the day and was heading home.

On reaching my house, I was completely lost at the sight that welcomed me, The whole place was on fire, the flames blazed through the windows, doors and everywhere in and around the house.

Without thinking, I immediately rushed in through the door that had already been blown open by the flames,

"Mom! Mom!" I screamed in panic running around the house, there was nothing left to see but flame, the smoke were so dense to the point that I had difficulty in breathing,

As I ran around the house helplessly, I suddenly stepped on something, on noticing it, I took a step backward and looked to see what it was, to my surprise, it was mom.

Seeing her all raddled up, I immediately bent down and lifted her up by resting her back on my arm,

"mom! Wake up, please....... wake up!" I pleaded.

She then opened her eyes and spoke "Charles, is that you" "Yes, it's me" I replied.

"I need to tell you something....ugu ugu ugu (coughing) you have finally come of age to know the truth" "What truth" i asked.

"I.... I am... not your birth mother.

"What!"

"I kept this a secret from you for a reason, even now, I wish... I didn't have to tell you this, but I can't do that, you have to find out the truth, it's for your own good"

"What are talking about mom, what do you mean you're not my mother, I don't..... Understand" I asked her as I broke down in tears.

"This is lot to take in, I know, but given the present situation, I have no other choice, take this amulet and this ring with you, guard this amulet with your life, it holds the secret of your true identity, ughu, ughu, ughu (coughing)" she explained as she stretched out her hands,

"Mom what are you saying, I don't...understand, who... did this, to you" i asked.

"They were assassins, maybe from the capital, it seemed as though it was an order from a high authority, a commander or someone from the royal family" she replied.

I tried the best I could to get her to stand up, but it was no use

"it's alright, just go without me, I have already been poisoned by the man I fought with, so I could die any moment, at first, I thought I was strong enough to face him, but the only thing I ended up doing, was scaring him on the right eye" she said.

"You can't give up, please get up" I continued to persuade her, I tried the best I could, but all my effort was futile.

"just go, go, the smoke is getting thicker, it's only a matter of time before this cabin comes crashing down on us, so go, and remember this, although you weren't my biological son, I still loved yo.....yo" she suddenly lost consciousness.

"Mom! Mom! Mom! Wake up" I pleaded as I felt her temperature growing cold, even in the intense heat.

I was still trying to get her to wake up, when I heard a cracking sound from the top cabin, suddenly, a pillar came rushing down on me,

Seeing this, I hugged her tightly and swiftly rolled to the other side of the room,

"boom!" sounded the pillar as it reached the ground,

The damage the flames had done to the cabin, wasn't something that could be repaired, I then realized that it was only a matter of time before the entire cabin collapsed, I started looking for a way out, but the whole place was worse than when I initial came in,

The level of oxygen in the whole room had depreciated a great deal, I then looked to my right and saw an opening which looked like a window frame, I immediately carried mom on my shoulder and headed straight for the opening,

It was a narrow escape but the moment we jumped out, the cabin collapsed,

"Mom! Wake up please, mom! Mom! I beg you, wake up!" i kept on pulling and pushing.

It took me a great deal to accept what had happened, mom was dead and there was nothing I could do about it, I pondered on it for a long time, I then turned around, the cabin was completely destroyed, there was nothing left but ashes, I carried mom's corpse to the back of the already burnt cabin and buried it there,

"what could mom have done to make this people come after her, even If she did something, they didn't have the right to take her life, she never allowed me to see anyone since we lived in a secluded forest, but I never once hated her for that, I knew she did it to protect me, I will find whoever did this and make them pay"

I then embarked on a journey to the capital to find out the truth and also get revenge.
