Chapter Ninety Nine

Vincent strolled out of the university gates, the weight of his backpack pulling at his shoulders. The setting sun cast long shadows as he ambled through the quiet streets, lost in thought. His house, nestled on the other side of town, beckoned him with the promise of solitude.

As he turned a corner, the tranquility shattered. A group of local gang members, their faces masked by the fading light, emerged from the shadows. Tension hung in the air like a storm brewing, and Vincent's heart quickened.

"Hey, look who we got here," sneered the apparent leader, a menacing figure with a twisted grin. Vincent's attempt to sidestep them was met with an aggressive shove. The ominous silence was broken by the echo of laughter as the gang closed in, a pack of wolves surrounding their prey.

"Thought you could just walk away, huh?" one of them jeered, a cruel glint in his eye. Vincent, bewildered, stammered, "What's this about? I don't even know you guys!"
