Joan smiled smugly and adjusted her hair, feeling happy for the unlikely coincidence that occured, validating her lie.

"Wow, he must really like you a lot. Has he given you the jewelry set he bought that day?" Miriam asked, turning to look at her.

Joan instinctively wanted to shout of course. However, she knew that any mistake she commits right now will lead to her lie being found out, making her fake a pout.

"Not yet, he's probably waiting for me to apologize," she whispered, looking sad.

"Why don't you want to apologize? What did you do?" Miriam asked, feigning concern.

"I won't. I feel too ashamed. Besides, I can't swallow my pride, no matter how hard I try. I will just wait for him to come back on his own," she whispered 'sadly'.

"What if he refuses to apologize this time? What if he leaves you and chooses a humble girl that will worship and love him? What if he had bought it for his new girl instead of you?" She asked, looking sincerely at Joan.
